NJ — A live video captures Bernardsville Police shutting down a borough business for repeatedly violating Gov. Phil Murphy's executive order for having a non-essential business open during the coronavirus pandemic. Katherine Hermes of Peapack and owner of Country Home Store at 21 Olcott Square can be heard on the video making an emotional plea to the officer. "I am just trying to save my business," Hermes says. "I am widow with three children who need to eat." (See below)
Hermes was making a Facebook Live video on Tuesday night to sell some of her products when Officer Tyler Demott came into the store at about 9 p.m.

This could make a good campaign ad for someone running against a local incumbent.

One comment for any officer supporting g this Governor:
How does it feel to act like a Jack-booted thug? You have biolatedyour path to uphold the constitution. You are NOT protected by the excuse of, "I was just following orders". Recall the Nuremberg trials? My dad assisted in that.
You will be remembered, and not to your advantage.

Live in NJ, you are a subject to the jack booted thugs. This has been clear on the gun rights front for decades.
NJ is an evil place.

Well, they are DIMS, after all. Gotta be good little stormtroopers for Fuehrer Murphy.
Who is running for a Congressional seat from New Jersey in November? GREAT video for ALL the GOP candidates.
"THIS is the New Jersey Democrat Party showing you how they will RULE YOU if you vote them into office in November!"

Every shop that is closed because they are "Non-essential" should hang a portrait of their governor in the window for everyone to see as they walk or drive by.

President Trump needs to regain the initiative, these blue-state governors are going to keep the economy locked down until November. He should tell AG Barr to appoint a DOJ team to investigate and prosecute violations of constitutional rights. He should announce that a federal tribunal will be named to hear these cases (a la Nuremberg) and that "following orders" will not be a defense. And make it easy to report cases like this that need to be investigated. I don't know the legalities of all this, I understand federalism and states' rights, but the federal government can enforce the protection of constitutional rights. If police realize they will be held personally and criminally accountable for their actions, they would not be so quick to shut down an honest citizen trying to earn a living.

They aren't just saying certain businesses are non-essential. They are saying the people that work there are non-essential.
Don't the police have more important things to do? Guess its easier to go after a business owner than a drug pusher. Seriously, who are these people protecting?

I would encourage concerned citizens to call the Bernardsville Chief of Police Kevin J. Valentine, to render your opinion regarding the enforcement action taken against Katherine Hermes by Officer Tyler Demott. The chief can be contacted at either (908) 766-0037 or at police@bernardsvillepd.org. The chief needs to be reminded that there is the "letter of the law" and the "spirit of the law". Also, ask the chief if he is still collecting his pay check! Chief Valentine gets a zero on the hero scale.

After hearing this on Rush with Ken Mathews, I had to see this for myself as a past NJ resident near to Bernardsville. Long video but skip to about 1:55 to see the cop at the door with the CLOSED sign showing.
An unidentified complainant caused this to happen. I hope the store owner remembers 'snitches get stitches'. And hopefully worse.
