GQ Magazine was forced to issue a correction after one of its columnists misidentified former segregationist Alabama Gov. George Wallace as a Republican in an effort to smear the GOP as racist. Laura Bassett, who also writes as freelance political reporter, wrote a Wednesday op-ed titled “The Anti-Abortion Movement Was Always Built on Lies,” attempting to chronicle evangelical efforts in building up the pro-life movement. The crux of Bassett’s piece rests on the foundation that the pro-life movement was “bought and paid for the Christian right,” to morph the Republican Party into the pro-life party.

To compound her stupidity someone could point out that many Democrats were pro-life in the 1960s-1970s.

I often thought that the GOP or a GOP PAC should put up billboards in some urban neighborhoods with pictures of famous democrats - George Wallace standing in the schoolhouse door blocking the black children with the caption "Governor George Wallace was a democrat, Bull Conner with a picture of the fire hoses blasting and police dogs attacking the civil rights protesters and the caption "Bull Conner was a democrat" and of course Robert Byrd split shot with him in his Grand Kleagle outfit right next to the one of him hugging Hillary with the caption Robert Byrd, democrat and Grand Kleagle of the KKK. Or would be too harsh? Because people who should know it, don't.

GQ magazine published an anti-Trump issue in 2016. The issue was one huge, ugly, Trump-attacking piece. I wondered at the time why the magazine would purposely alienate half of its readership. And for the record, that's the last time I ever read GQ.

TBH GQ started going off the rails in the 1970's. The usual suspects saw an established market and corrupted it.

Didn't their correction just say he was not a Republican? Shouldn't they have said: “Correction 5/21: An earlier version of this piece misstated that George Wallace was a Republican. He was a four-term Democrat governor of Alabama and ran three times as a Democrat candidate for President. We regret the error,” All it said was that he wasn't a Republican. Yeah, you and I know he was a Democrat, but no one has gone broke underestimating the stupidity of many of our fellow citizens.

The abortion movement was founded by a hard core racist whose intent was to rid the world of black babies and 'other undesirables'. Read Margaret Sangers own words she was a racist, trying wipe out blacks. She planned to "hire black preachers" (her exact words) to push birth control and abortions in black churches.

For Mother's Day, I interviewed Craig Shirley about his most recent book, "Mary Ball Washington: The Untold Story of  Story of George Washington's Mother.” Four books on Ronald Reagan, one on Newt Gingrich and one on December 1941 – my own favorite – and now you turn to George Washington’s mother? How did that happen?  Actually, I’d been thinking about a book on Washington for a long time. (Snip) I wanted to get at Washington in a different way and I realized that there had never been written an accurate and detailed biography of his mother.

Stay-home orders that extend too long could cause the U.S. “irreparable damage,” Dr. Anthony Fauci warned Friday. Strict crackdowns on large gatherings and other orders, such as for home quarantines, were needed when the coronavirus first hit the nation, but those rules can now begin to be lifted in many parts of the country, Fauci said during an interview on CNBC. “I don’t want people to think that any of us feel that staying locked down for a prolonged period of time is the way to go,” the member of the White House coronavirus task force said.

Every state and local politician who imposed lockdowns pursuant to the COVID-19 pandemic claimed their decisions were based on “the science.” In reality, they ignored the advice of leading epidemiologists, relying instead on statistical models produced by “experts” with histories of wildly inaccurate projections. The most notorious of these oracles was, of course, Neil Ferguson of Imperial College London, who claimed that coronavirus could kill 2.2 million Americans. Based on such apocalyptic predictions, combined with overcautious warnings from Beltway bureaucrats like Dr. Anthony Fauci, all but a few governors implemented economically destructive stay-at-home orders — despite the reservations of respected epidemiologists who questioned the logic of lockdowns from the beginning.

There are so many angles to the FBI-Michael Flynn imbroglio, and most have been covered in great depth across a divergent set of viewpoints. But one aspect that has not been covered, and that opens up a wider lens into FBI policy, is the fact that the FBI refuses to audiotape, much less videotape, interviews of witnesses or suspects such as Flynn. That policy is counterproductive and makes no sense in 2020. The FBI needs to take itself out of the J. Edgar Hoover era and align itself with modern law enforcement best practices.
