As reported weeks ago — in mid April Dr. Fauci admitted that it was he and Dr. Birx who persuaded President Trump to lock down the US economy knowing the massive destruction this would cause in jobs, lives and commerce. President admitted that during a press conference in April that “two very smart people” came into his office and urged him to lock down the economy or 2.2 million Americans would die from the China virus.
But President Trump did not say who those “two very smart people” were. President Trump: The big projection being that 2.2 million people would die if

In my very first post conjcerning Kung Flu, I suggested that the U.S. look at old fashioned regular flu deaths and compare those to kung Flu deaths.
The two physicians relied on the work of the top man in the field, Ferguson. they were faced with an immedate emergency, as Kung Flu hit the U.S. They were trying to protect us, and they may have relied on bad data.
It is just plain silly to suggest that Birx and Fauci be fired - or prosecuted.
but in my first post about Kung Flu, I mentioned the over-reaction of the Ford administration in 1976, to the threat of Swine Flu.

But WHYYY would Trump even do that?! All it took was a couple of people showing up and he goes "Okay, we'll do what you want to do..." without any other research? That story doesnt ring true! Not that Im questioning Trump's intelligence, but it all sounds so casual...does this mean if I just show up for a meeting with Trump and say "the Texas border needs murder hornets to guard against illegals because Im an expert in murder hornets" then he'll say "okay, lets do it."???????? WTH???????
I agree about Fauci and Birx needing to feel retribution. While we're at it can we include Bathhouse Barry, HIldabeast, and that Lizard Lady, ValJar????

These two were not to be trusted from the get go. It was so obvious. Get these two frauds off the stage NOW. Look at the damage they have done, along with the psycho Dem governors.
Enough is enough. America must get back to work. Open it all up. People need to be making wages, not unemployment. School must open now. Kids had their summer vaca a little early. Hold classes in June & July, off in Aug, back in Sept.

No one bothered to apply critical thought before acting on this model? No request for a "second opinion"? The entire complex of American Government, from White House to town halls, panicked, stampeding the American public into COVID hysteria...and now cannot afford to pay the anticipated political price for backing off, honestly explaining the "threat", and "re-opening" commerce and society at large for fear of a "second wave" and ballot box repercussions for even appearing to "endanger" lives.

By my reckoning it is day 51 of "15 days to flatten the curve". Trump got rolled by the deep state on this one. What's the best way forward? Status quo isn't going to cut it. West coast and New England state "pacts" are working to keep house arrest in place long enough to destroy the economy and drive Trump from office. We can't recover from this when more than 1/2 of the political establishment does not want a recovery.

Two million people are going to die from CV! This is scare tactics! How do they know? Can they see the future? Do they have a crystal ball or a time machine? No!
A model is not proof! Another model can come out saying only 3000 people will die. Which one is true? Is either true? Nobody knows their accuracy. How can you base government policy on future models? You can't.
People fell for this fraud. Our President fell for this fraud. Trump's enemies perpetrated it. Fauci and Birx are supposed to be scientists? Sure fooled me. They shutdown the economy over this! They closed thousands of businesses and cost tens of millions of people their jobs and livelihoods because they were 'unessential'. NO PERSON IS UNESSENTIAL! They created a catastrophe. All to unseat a duly elected President.
It should never have happened.
There might be criteria where a lockdown is warranted, but they were never adequately defined. Over 50000 people die in the United States weekly. CV never reached numbers like that. CV never warranted a lockdown. Have to imagine none of this would ever have happened during an Obama presidency. its an election year, and this is all politics. That's why this happened.
Our politicians are playing politics with people's lives. It has to stop.

I'm in the group that believes that at the beginning nobody knew what this virus really was or how bad it could get, so the initial strategy to "flatten the curve" in order to buy time for our medical supply chain and medical facilities and resources to supply-up and staff-prep-up was reasonable. Where it all went haywire was when it became clear that (a) supplies got replenished, (b) the vast majority of the hospitals were NOT being stressed, and (c) the models were absurdly wrong. At that point (about 2-3 weeks ago), the President should have pulled the plug on this giant "extended lockdown hoax". Yes, it now is totally a hoax and a weapon of the blue state governors and a great big CYA for the RINO governors.
And those governors who clearly saw this and took appropriate prudent and LIMITED measures should rise to the top of the list of 2024 candidates. In particular, Ron DeSantis of Floria and Kristi Noem of South Dakota bear watching.

Well duh it was a fraud. They stuck with it until too many people figured out these two were plagiarizing this model and calling it their own. Both of these people have deep ties to both Bill Gates and the Clintons and need to be exposed for exactly what they are. Complete frauds. They also need to bear the burden of being responsible for all the suicides beginning in January up to now. More people died because of the fear mongering of these two than the actual virus.

Keep in mind President Trump could stop travel in and out of the country, get companies to produce emergency materials (PPE) and such, but the state governments are the ones 'locking down' themselves. It's all very good to use a broad brush and claim the President did it, but without a declaration of martial law he hasn't the authority. He trusted these two bureaucrats (one a confirmed shrillary lover) and other fedguv 'experts' and the leftards took advantage of it to harm us. So lets keep the anger and retribution directed appropriately. No leftard should be allowed within a light-year of any political office or job in government.

Fauci and Birx ran to Trump with this fraud, using the British model prepared by another crazy leftist, a model never tested by the scientific community. I think it was a 4th coup attempt by the left, who knew only Trump could destroy Trump. It is incredible that Trump did not recognize it. Now Trump decided to shut down the Virus Committee, which was right, or this will never end---then he changed his mind. What is happening? Trump was reversing socialism, now he has agreed to impose more socialism than ever in our history. The left never quits, and now has succeeded in getting Trump to destroy himself, and us. This has been a colossal mistake. Pelosi laughed and left town for SF during it all, getting her new plastic surgery, new clothes, and taking a 2 month vacation, all while Trump destroyed himself. This is the biggest fraud of them all, and has worked. We will have another 3 years of trying to get the documents on this coup attempt.

Well the Leftist and liberal Democrats can’t say that President Trump did not listen to his best scientific advisors before he took the actions that he took.
Dr. Fauci is scheduled to testify before a Senate Committee in a week or so, and since the basis of his advise to the President to shutdown the US economy has now been outed as a fraudulent foreign study, Fauci had better have his story straight, because he not only will be questioned by friendly Democrats and wimpy Republicans during that appearance.
Following that, Trump might want to change out his scientific advisors.

I am not sufficiently knowledgeable to begin calling for lynchings and jail time for the only experts we had at the time this novel virus began to break out bigly in our country. No one knew much about it. China had nothing to offer. Neil Ferguson came out in the UK with his model. Read his bio. He is highly respected relative to infectious diseases. A sample from his Wiki page:
Neil Morris Ferguson OBE FMedSci (born 1968) is a British epidemiologist[3] and professor of mathematical biology, who specialises in the patterns of spread of infectious disease in humans and animals. He is the director of the Abdul Latif Jameel Institute for Disease and Emergency Analytics (J-IDEA), head of the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology in the School of Public Health and Vice-Dean for Academic Development in the Faculty of Medicine, all at Imperial College, London.
Ferguson has used mathematical modelling to provide data on several disease outbreaks including the 2001 United Kingdom foot-and-mouth outbreak, the swine flu outbreak in 2009 in the UK, the 2012 Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus outbreak and the ebola epidemic in Western Africa in 2016. His work has also included research on mosquito-borne diseases including zika fever, yellow fever, dengue fever and malaria.
Ferguson and his team were very seriously off the mark with their model, which was replaced with a very downgraded model a few weeks later. I do not believe that Ferguson’s model allowed for mitigation, which is believed to have worked in this country. Meanwhile Dr. Birx had nothing but the non-info out of China and Ferguson’s study to guide her advice to the President.
We know nothing. The President had to rely on those who believed were most qualified. They in turn had to rely on data from sources believed to be trustworthy.
And Jim Hoft has to get clicks.

Thank you, #10, for a dose of sanity.
We can now see, in the clarity of 20-20 hindsight, what we COULD NOT SEE two or three months ago. The Imperial College Model, AT THAT POINT IN TIME, enjoyed a reputation for 'the highest quality', and was used as the basis for actions - when inaction could cost literally MILLIONS of lives. It appears that their models were inaccurate.
To me, we will NEVER KNOW - it is absolutely impossible to know - what we avoided by all our efforts. If the rest of the USA had been subjected to what the Bronx has been subjected to, ~1,900 deaths per million people, which has actually happened, that is about 625,000 dead in the USA. This is ten or twenty times worse than a normal "bad year" with the flu.
If you paid $600 for a set of Blizzak snow tires, and drove the entire winter snow season without an accident, is the correct conclusion that you wasted your $600, that "that damned tire salesman ripped me off"? Or maybe that by spending $600 you avoided being in a wheelchair from sliding into a bridge abutment on slick roads? You can NEVER KNOW what you avoided by prudent safety efforts and expenses.
The people blaming Fauci and Birx should be embarrassed at what they wrote, but won't be.

Here is an interesting article from way back on March 26 that is well worth the time it takes to read it. Most won’t bother. The few who do will learn something I didn’t know before about Ferguson’s models. That is plural. The outrageous one was assuming that no mitigating efforts would be employed. That nothing would change in the UK’s (and our country’s) daily life… And there were other models included, based on various forms of mitigation, locking down, and so forth, that significantly reduced the death numbers.

Okay, so what now?? Sorry to be so cynical . . . . Comey and company wreck the FBI and destroy public trust in the top law enforcement agency. If he and his ilk are not held accountable, we can expect the burgeoning of organized crime. And Fauci and Birx, if this is true, need to be held accountable. If they are not, and they continue to defraud the country and break us even more, our country is totally finished. The only thing left is a banana republic overridden by organized crime. What next??!!

Thanks, #37. An interesting article. I am disappointed at the folks who cannot grasp that if you work really hard to mitigate a problem....you might actually succeed, and it wouldn't be as big a problem as it may have been.
There is no way to ever know what the death rate would have been....we changed the course of history, that time line where we didn't do anything didn't happen, so all we have is estimates of what COULD HAVE happened - but we made NOT HAPPEN.
Like any risk modification behavior - you cannot tell what things you may have avoided. Didn't walk next to that cliff? Can you prove a week later that you prevented yourself from falling off? Nope, can't prove what you avoided, EVER.

Weren't these the same twits who hyperbolized the rise of AIDS in the nineties? We were told that the rapid spread of AIDS in homosexuals was only the prelude and that it would make the jump to normals in nothing flat! Our kids were bombarded with 'safe sex' messages and every gas station restroom and convenience center had prominently displayed condom dispensers. Funny how AIDS never made the leap! Oddly enough though, the practice of tracing sexual partners to contain the spread of STDs (called "venereal disease" when I was young) disappeared because of the stigma of associating AIDS with homosexuality. Funny how political correctness trumped public safety in that case, isn't it?
