A hunter bought a pair of Purdey firearms, thought to be worth around £50,000, in a private deal five months ago, before the couple quit the UK for Canada and later moved to the US, The Sun reports.
A friend of the anonymous buyer said: 'He bought them because he wanted them, not because they belonged to Harry, but he was quite chuffed when he found out.
'They are beautiful examples and he's very pleased with them but he's not the sort of person who wants to boast about the royal connection.'

FTA: The Sussexes are said to be eyeing up a sprawling six-bedroom home near LA's wealthy neighbourhood of Pacific Palisades and are planning to have Meghan's mum Doria Ragland move in with them and baby Archie.
Next a surgeon to strip him of the rest?

Probably shotguns, not rilfes. But the media, especially the British media are beyond clueless on firearms.
Purdey does make rifles, but most of what the royals do is bird hunting, and that takes shotguns. Purdey is world renowned for fine shotguns.

He's never going to need them again, since he's given up his Royal moniker, and won't be bird hunting in Malibu or Pacific Palisades any time soon.

Harry shown with a water buffalo he got in Argentina. The weapons he sold were made by Purdey, a company that dates back to 1814.
Someone opined he sold shotguns, not rifles. Always thought shotguns were for birds… but what do I know...

The guns were probably purchased with taxpayer money and ginger boy needed the cash to support his new addiction. Wait until she dumps him in a few years, he better enjoy it while he can.

She has totally and completely castrated her husband. What was once a strong manly man has been reduced to a whimpering crying little wimpy boy doing what his out of control little left wing liberal feeling little wife orders him to do. Keep it up boy. In a few more years she will divorce you and take you to the clearers after she runs off with her limo driver.

#8, lots of good bird hunting in the USA. Pheasants in the upper midwest, quail in the SE states. Fine shooting opportunities here....if your wife will let you.

They were probably the most awesome shotguns you've ever seen...side by side, heavily engraved, maybe an engraved portrait of a beloved, dearly departed retriever. I haven't seen them but they already bring tears to my eyes just imagining. Harry, a woman made you get rid of them?

I sure would like to know what MM has (or does) that he finds so irresistible. I hope it lasts because he's given up a lot for it. If he ever comes out of his addictive fog, he's going to have a lot of anger for what she's done to him.

Once you have a Purdey, you don’t EVER sell it! You pass it down to your son.

Me thinks that Mama Doria is too crafty to give up her little house in the burbs..which I think she inherited from her family.anyway..she can always have a nice place in their new pad..but I suspect she is smart enough to know..this may not last forever..and she is not going to give up the security of her own little house.

Purdey makes the finest double barrel shotguns in the world. When the buyer orders one, his or her physical dimensions are used to make the shotgun fit perfectly. (sort of like ordering a tailored suit.) and the reason for a matched set is that when pareticipating in a driven pheasant hunt, the shooter has an assistant who reloads the first double barrel shotgun while the shooter is shooting the first shotgun. Repeat the process, as long as the pheasants are flying.
One of the most dedicated hunters in England was Lord Ripon. He had three, instead of two purdeys, and he had two assistants to reload.
Each Christmas, Lord Ripon included in his Christmas cards, a tally of all the things he shot. And during the summer months, he shot butterflies, using lead powder rather than pellets.
He died, hunting pheasants.

Harry has to be severely p-whipped to stop hunting and to be selling his very expensive rifle and shotgun. Since Harry apparently is in the process of immigrating to America, someone should tell him that most American gals and guys who enjoy hunting and shooting would not do that.

Some examples of his hunting from The Sun, linked in this article:
Harry shot dead the water buffalo in Argentina in 2004 during his gap year — and he and William hunted wild boar in Spain in 2014.
And in 2017, while engaged to Meghan, Harry and his friends killed 15 wild boar in Germany.

#11, if he was hunting water buff, that would use a rifle. Just looking is sometimes not obvious, too, since the common side by side double barrel shotgun is extremely similar looking to the extremely expensive double rifles, rarely seen in the USA due to cost.
All the pix I had seen previously of 'the royals' out hunting were bird hunts with shotguns, often in the heath in Scotland.
