A hunter bought a pair of Purdey firearms, thought to be worth around £50,000, in a private deal five months ago, before the couple quit the UK for Canada and later moved to the US, The Sun reports. A friend of the anonymous buyer said: 'He bought them because he wanted them, not because they belonged to Harry, but he was quite chuffed when he found out. 'They are beautiful examples and he's very pleased with them but he's not the sort of person who wants to boast about the royal connection.'

Probably shotguns, not rilfes. But the media, especially the British media are beyond clueless on firearms. Purdey does make rifles, but most of what the royals do is bird hunting, and that takes shotguns. Purdey is world renowned for fine shotguns.

Purdey makes the finest double barrel shotguns in the world. When the buyer orders one, his or her physical dimensions are used to make the shotgun fit perfectly. (sort of like ordering a tailored suit.) and the reason for a matched set is that when pareticipating in a driven pheasant hunt, the shooter has an assistant who reloads the first double barrel shotgun while the shooter is shooting the first shotgun. Repeat the process, as long as the pheasants are flying. One of the most dedicated hunters in England was Lord Ripon. He had three, instead of two purdeys, and he had two assistants to reload. Each Christmas, Lord Ripon included in his Christmas cards, a tally of all the things he shot. And during the summer months, he shot butterflies, using lead powder rather than pellets. He died, hunting pheasants.

#11, if he was hunting water buff, that would use a rifle. Just looking is sometimes not obvious, too, since the common side by side double barrel shotgun is extremely similar looking to the extremely expensive double rifles, rarely seen in the USA due to cost. All the pix I had seen previously of 'the royals' out hunting were bird hunts with shotguns, often in the heath in Scotland.

As a general rule, when the New York Times, the Washington Post, National Public Radio, Public Broadcasting Service, NBC, CBS, ABC, MSNBC, and CNN begin to parrot a narrative, the truth often is found in simply believing just the opposite. Put another way, the media’s “truth” is a good guide to what is abjectly false. Perhaps we can call the lesson of this valuable service, the media’s inadvertent ability to convey truth by disguising it with transparent bias and falsehood, the “Doctrine of Media Untruth.” Take the strange case of the respective records of liberal New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and Florida counterpart Ron DeSantis. Both states have roughly equal populations, with
