It could be more than a year before churches are allowed to resume their in-person gatherings, according to Democratic Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker.Pritzker announced a five-phase plan to reopen Illinois that gives guidance to schools, businesses, churches, and other religious centers about when they will be allowed to reopen. In phase three, gatherings of up to 10 people will be allowed. In phase four, gatherings of up to 50 people will be allowed. Gatherings of more than 50 people will not be allowed until phase five.During a press conference on Wednesday, Pritzker confirmed that churches will be held to the same standards and not be allowed to hold in-person

Completely unconstitutional. Take it to the SCOTUS. This dictator is trying to destroy the churches by financial ruin.

A dream come true for the Marxists, who promised such years ago. Will this be enforced on mosques as well, Gov. Putzker?

I want to see a *penalty* for these abuses. Not just a "Oh, I changed it back, sorry" I want these politicians to *pay* for depriving me of my civil rights. Jail is acceptable, cash not so much. I want the politician to pay, not some donors.

The Corona Virus has a smattering of communism attached to it for some governors and big bloated heads of big city mayors.

Take it to the SCOTUS nothing! Take it to the streets. There must be a thousand times more citizens without incomes than there are cops WITH paychecks.

More and more, what our government is doing has nothing to do with the corona virus. This is about suppressing religion and keeping people from congregating. Our Democraticly elected government is turning into a tyranny.

The fight to preserve our rights enters the next of an infinite number of phases. As long as freedom loving people exist with their god given rights there will be those trying to take them away for one reason or another.

@#1 - Once a lawsuit get started, it would be 6-7 years at the least before this type of case would make it to the SC. By then, the damage is done.

Our town board just voted on closing down one street in town so that restaurants can expand seating and maintain guidelines. When asked about that today, Governor Flintstone said that compromise is not within the "epidemiologists guidelines." It won't be "allowed" until PHASE FOUR! Is this billionaire going to take care of those families? Give business owners some credit! This is cruel.
Now, no church openings for a year?? Most people will still contribute their offerings but missing out on the Easter collection from the 2x's a year folks hit most very hard. Of course they can cut back on that whole "feed the hungry" thing. Their has to be some kind of compromise here too. Freedom to worship is in one of those Bill of Rights things isn't it? Are we still doing those?
I saw a cute cartoon, it said..."I've tried your free one month trial of communism, I've decided not to continue." Me too!

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
US Constitution 1st Amendment. Note that the 1st amendment leads off with the religion clause, before freedom of speech or of the press.
State laws and government activity under the color of law must also follow the Constitution. President Trump is hopefully considering federalizing the Illinois National Guard and deploying them, along with troops from the 101st Airborne Division, to churches like Eisenhower did in Little Rock for school integration.

If Pritzker keeps the churches closed, then the time has come for the Churches to go underground. Will a Cristero Estadounidense revolt be far behind? (American Cristero revolution)

AG Barr, where are you? Any restrictions on 1st amendment rights have to be narrowly tailored to the least restrictive alternative. Pritzker is using a sledgehammer, not a scalpel.

No, #23, synagogues are in the crosshairs too. Remember what happened in NYC when that rabbi died and the mayor threatened the mourners with jail for daring to attend his funeral. And, like Christians, Jews won't kill you in civilized countries.
Mosques, on the other hand, will probably get government handouts and "exemptions" from any limitations for other religions. The governor knows it can easily be fatal to upset the muslims!!!!!

Churches should just open up, period. What's going to happen, some mayor will try to have his police shut down a church with hundreds, possibly thousands of people in attendance? Won't that look good on the nightly news? Like the Nike (who I despise) ad: "Just do it!" Going to court is not the answer.

For the democrats it’s not freedom of religion it is freedom from religion. May we remind the good governor:
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

So much for freedom of religion. The demonrats will do anything and everything to shut it down. Islam will be exempt of course. Well Mr. Barr, here's your first case for trampling on the citizen's rights or was that all blowhard too? As to IL citizens, how do you like that demonrat jackboot on your neck?

That is how ignorant these people are. Do these ignorant people realize that the church is an extension of a person's heart for God? They still can't take away the hearts of people who are for God's ways.

FTA: "I'm not the one providing that guidance. It really is what the scientists and epidemiologists are recommending."
He does realize that he is the one in charge, not the nameless scientists and epidemiologists, doesn't he?
As for potential lawsuits, I wish the businesses and churches he has financially destroyed could sue him rather than the state, the obese-one has billions, IL has only debts.
