Sometime between Saturday and Sunday, it’s expected that Chicago’s total number of coronavirus-related deaths will cross the 1,000-person mark.
“Think about that: 1,000 people dead simply because of COVID-19,” Mayor Lori Lightfoot said Saturday.
Chicago and the rest of Illinois have been under a coronavirus-inspired semi-lockdown for six weeks, and residents are instructed to stay at home as much as possible for another four weeks.
Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s latest stay-at-home order will expire at the end of May. But the mayor did not take the possibility of an extension off the table.
“We’re going to stay in the status quo as long as we need to,” she said.
Lori Lighfoot!!!
Hilarious!!!
The sheeeple seem to love being regulated!
And told what to do!
In Chicago?
1000 out of millions?
“As long as WE need to”..she said.
Who’s WE?

Seriously, someone ask her how this compares to the deaths from flu cases in previous epidemics and whether the city survived despite not being shut down then. Ergo, why now, Mayor?

41% of deaths in Illinois were in nursing homes. I'm assuming quite a few more were in prisons and jails. What does this say (aside from the fact that the governor dropped the ball on protecting our seniors)? It says that the virus spreads in confined, indoor spaces where people are living in close quarters. It also affects the most vulnerable population, the elderly who need constant care, disproportionately. Locking up the rest of us makes no sense. There is plenty of hospital capacity for new cases (assuming they are serious enough to require hospitalization). If the death rate has peaked, it means the infection rate peaked several weeks ago. If deaths and hospitalizations are down by the end of the month there will be no reason other than politics to keep the state closed.

The order may extend beyond May, but there aren't enough cops to enforce it.

Illinois has had 2,559 death out of a population of 12,670,000. That's less than one-quarter of 1 %. And most of the deaths are in 'Crook' county or inner-ring suburbs. It's crazy to keep the whole state locked down.

FTA: We still haven’t seen cases go down – they’re continuing to go up.”
Could it be that the "stay-at-home" strategy is the cause?

MAYOR Lightfoot or SCHOOLMARM Lightfoot? "If you girls and boys don't behave, you'll be in detention even longer!" And yet . . . being outdoors might actually be good for folks.
I LOATHE her and the Governor of my state. The witch can get her hair done and the governor's wife can travel to Florida to a horse ranch -- and yet no one else can. We can't go to the beauty parlor or a barbershop. And we're supposed to avoid nonessential travel.
GO TO HELL PRITZGER!

The cases are going up because of increased testing. That doesn't mean the infection rate is going up. Some of the "new" cases might have been contracted a week or more ago. The relevant information is the hospitalization rates and the death rates. The death rates follow the infection rates by 2-4 weeks. So if the death rate is peaking now, it means the infection rate peaked several weeks ago. But don't expect the average person to understand this or for politicians to keep citing the "new" case rate.

Stay at home order will probably go into late June in California. Comrad Nutcase will wave his dictatorial hands and run us into the ground. Then he may have to shut the economy down over and over again if we don’t obey.

The leftist and liberal Democrats would love to see the country’s economy shutdown until after the election thinking that will help them defeat Trump in the November election, regardless of how many businesses are destroyed or how many people are bankrupted. But Trump is not playing along with the Democrat doom and gloom game, and by election time should have the economy on a roll, and out there everyday encouraging all Americans to make America Great Again.

I got a better idea. Build a 20 foot wall around the city of Chicago (airports included) without any means of ingress or egress and only allow cargo flights.

They can extend the "order" but I doubt if people will even obey the current one in place much longer. The masses are catching on that, while this is a nasty flu, these extreme measures were not needed. One of the three legs of government by law is that the law must be perceived by the majority as being useful and needed. Once people see a law or executive order as being unnecessary and capricious it will no longer be obeyed by that majority and become unenforcible.

The stay at home BS is already over for most people. The weather is warming up and people are getting out despite the edicts of all those socialist governors. Already we're hearing states crying they need money. Keeping this stupid stay at home order much longer is only going to make matters worse.

The stay-at-home order will last only as long as people think it should last. Absolutely not longer.

We in Louisiana expect to get sentenced in 15 more day increments right up to election day. If they dared tell us that it will be months, they might have a riot or a recall election on their hands.
Here's the deal, if you live in a democrat state: they are willing to tank the economy, violate constitutional rights and even arrest children if it would win them the right to get mail in ballots for November. If they can cheat their way into victory they will gladly do it.

The People better stand up soon or the country will go broke and we will be the next Venezuela. This must be Bernie and AOC's dream come true. Nobody works and they print money.
This is all about the election in November and trying to stop it.
