We all know the old saying that tough times bring out both the best in people and the worst in people. And right now, the coronavirus pandemic has brought tough times to literally billions of us all around the world. For a vivid illustration of both the best and worst response to the pandemic, you have to look no further than the rash of small but disturbing protests taking place intermittently around the U.S. against shelter-in-place orders that are saving lives. We’ve witnessed the sad spectacle of irate protesters equating “liberty” with shortsighted and selfish urges to deny the harsh reality that the vast majority of Americans are doing their

But ...what kind of life will survivors have once they've lost their job, their house, and can't feed and clothe their children?
The situation here in Tucson, AZ is far different than in NYC. Why should lives be ruined here because of the poor leadership/planning in New York state?

Wait...I thought Brazile left her job as a Democrat Party operative and works for Fox now?
Maybe Fox would care to comment on this snd tell us if they agree with her statement?

My protest was to go to Spec's and get me a new jug o' Russian Standard vodka this bright and sunny morning . . . sans mask. Because I ran out of Lysol mixer.
After I finish "working", I'll set up a disinfectant station in my back yard hammock under the 90 degree Houston sun and humidity.

The only MD she has is a Moron Democrat. Her other "qualifications"? She was the campaign manager for Al Gore, Jesse Jackson, and Walter Mondale. So yeah, let's listen to this loser.

Life is not without risk. Individuals need to decide what risks they are willing to make. That's how we survived all these years.

Not surprising, as the Democrat line is that the sinking Trump economy should remain shutdown until after Trump is defeated in the election, with Biden then taking over, using “Hope and Change” to bring the nation back to the “normal” in a redo of the great Obama economy, along with the fact that Biden, according to the Democrats, has had a long and productive relationship with the Chinese Communists who Trump seems to be blaming in a discriminating manner for the ongoing pandemic.

Funny how every leftist wants to keep the economy closed down. Not, that it has anything to do with the fact that this is an election year or anything.

Whether the restrictions are mandatory or not, everyone is free to stay home as much as they like and study their walls or listen to those childish ads on TV. With mandatory rules, half of the people are unhappy and don't want to allow the government this much power. As far as protests go, you haven't seen anything yet if these idiot governors attempt to move their deadlines out again.

Why is it a world ending crisis when there is a government shut down and "non-essential" government employees are sent home. There is endless news / media coverage of the government employee's suffering and worry about their next meal and paying their bills. Of course, all of the government employees always get back pay after not working when the government reopens. Now that it is everyone else who is laid off, it doesn't seem to matter too much. Who care if businesses never reopen and millions are not working. People in New York are dying! It doesn't matter if a majority of the country is not experiencing the same problem. If it happens in NY or DC, then we must apply it to everyone because they know what is best for everyone else!

In an effort to save lives, major metro areas across the country should put all "folks" of a certain age and demographic bracket on home quarantine. Saving lives trumps civil rights, that is the new normal, isn't it?

Donna is either dishonest, dumb or most likely both. The point of closing non-essential businesses was to 'flatten the curve'. As the experts have stated repeatedly, the area under the curve which is total infections and by extension, deaths, remains the same. The goal is to spread out the infections in time so as not to overwhelm the healthcare system with a huge bolus of sick people. Once we are reasonably certain that the healthcare system is not going to be overwhelmed there is no reason to continue the shut down because the shut down is NOT saving lives.

Funny you chastise protesters shouting for liberty because they are being denied Constitutional rights but say nothing when protesters beat up an old guy wearing a Trump hat. We know who you are and every one like you.

Up front...Her attitude leads to 10 mph speed limits, no farming...get my drift? Inposeca question. How many lives will be lost this summer if we maintain lockdown, v how many lives will be lost this winter if we do not have herd immunity and flu and this nat soup stuff hit at the same time? My vote, get bat soup infection now, going into summer, rather than catching both simultaneously going into winter

@ #6. One of my FL doctors did a video showing how to make hand sanitizer: 91 or 93% rubbing alcohol and vodka. 1:1 ratio. Mix and put in small spray bottle. Shake before using. I bought a 2 oz. bottle of hand sanitizer from a friend who does natural things. Cost me $6. I will do this alcohol and vodka. Can use both for other things and save $$.

I read very recently about a woman who owned a spa and beauty salon and lived in one of those states that were allowing some businesses to open, whose employees were angry with her for wanting them to come back to work because they got more money staying home - not working.
Could this be Donna Brazile's motive for not wanting people to go back to work?

Somebody remind the Brazile Nut that the U.S. was born from the audacious idea that the government is the people's servant, not their keeper.
"Give me freedom, or give me death" is not some quaint platitude.

Protests are just fine when the liberals are doing it. Protests are bad when productive Americans who want to work and have the right to choices, are bad. I hope there will be lots more protests, Donna/Karen.

This is the difference between the Dems and some of us Reps. We value freedom from tyranny higher than safety. I'm a high risk person with medical issues that make me voluntarily distance and sanitize and all. But destroying the nation is not making us safer.

"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." - B. Franklin
Placing entire states under house arrest, is giving up essential Liberty. All because the media wants us to be terrified of a virus that has caused fewer deaths this than the flu.
