EPA looks at suspending
ethanol blending requirement

Original Article

I’m not sure how much this will matter now that we’re basically out of places to store all of the oil that we’re pumping, but it’s still worth looking this proposal over. Last week we discussed the possible opportunity available to us if the EPA would agree to at least suspend the mandates of the Renewable Fuel Standard until the worst of the pandemic is behind us. Getting rid of it entirely would be preferable, but that would require congressional action that the Democrats would never agree to and it’s unclear if the President could be convinced to support the idea even if they did.

Ethanol is for drinking, not driving. Well, except really fast and in a straight line. :)

Ethanol is an adulterant to gasoline with less than two-thirds the energy content of pure gasoline. To the extent that it is present, the alcohol in the mixture robs the motorist of both power and fuel efficiency. Ethanol also attracts water--gas does not--and is a solvent, breaking loose solids on the inside of the fuel lines and clogging fuel injectors. There is no advantage to mixing alcohol into gasoline. End the entire renewable fuels program. It never made any sense.

We've been hearing about the shortage of meat in recent days, so here's a suggestion. Use the corn for feedstock. Also, more corn for the bourbon distillers and breweries might even bring the price of good bourbon and beer down. Talk about a win-win. Pure gas for our vehicles and more good food and drink available.

They should definitely use this opportunity to eliminate the ethanol mandate. I can't tell you how many small engine carburetors I've had to rebuild because of that crap. It killed the carb and fuel pump in my 1954 Mercury as well. It has outlived its usefulness and that corn can be redirected to making bio degradable bags.

Despite the sign on the pump saying not for motor vehicle fuel, I once filled my car with non-ethanol. I did get several more MPG. That it's the ONLY fuel that should be put into small engines goes without saying anymore.

It's about time. Our cars were meant to burn gasoline without blending corn made ethanol into the mix. Ethanol lowers your gas mileage and probably has it's own pollutants to add to the mix. I had hoped when Donald Trump was elected he would have put a top to ethanol for use as fuel.

I don't like the the mandate but a lot of farmers have planted fields with it in mind. Pulling the demand out from them could do serious damage to farmers.

Ethanol is terrible for fuel. Gallons per mile and it starves corn eating people by raising the prices beyond their reach. Another liberal scheme to make them rich when elected. Corn kickbacks?

Ethanol is wreaking havoc on engines. Especially plastic and rubber components. Engines that are used infrequently or that sit for a while are being destroyed quickly - lawn mowers, outboard engines, emergency generators, farm tractors . To prevent replacing engines you have to drain the tanks and carburetors and refill for each use. The environmental cost of replacing engines and parts far outweighs any benefits from ethanol Of course, liberals love this.. Once again Deep State "science" ignores the facts and jumps on idiotic ideas with fanatic zeal.

In this current crisis, the longest if not the first complete shutdown in U.S. history, the freedoms of American democracy are being tested in ways we scarcely ever imagined. Out of nowhere little Napoleonic governors arise to enact decrees prohibiting gardening or strolling on an empty beach — decrees that seem to have little purpose other than to reflect that they can do so. Snitches volunteer to out felonious social deviants who are seen cooking in the backyard with a neighbor. A little horned-devil virus seems to be trying to do what those Russkies never could.

How does Nancy Pelosi get away with it? How does the speaker of the House, in the midst of an unprecedented pandemic crisis, delay desperately needed aid to small businesses and, in the process, escape blame in a highly politicized environment? Pelosi didn't stand in the way of aid for just an hour or two, or a day or two. She stonewalled for two weeks while small-business people across the country struggled to stay afloat in a time in which public fear of the coronavirus and government stay-at-home orders reduced their business incomes to zero. On March 27, President Trump signed into law an act

Sacramento- I was thinking of heading to the gas station to see how much the local retailer will pay me to fill up my tank. As the Washington Post explained this week, an oil glut caused “sellers holding U.S. crude contracts (to pay) buyers as much as $30 per barrel to take it off their hands.” Unfortunately, I haven’t started up my car for a while — and the tank remains full. And all those assorted taxes still keep gas prices here at around two bucks a gallon. Nevertheless, the dramatic tanking of oil prices brought to mind one of my favorite doomsday predictions.

Usama bin Laden wanted to assassinate then-President Barack Obama so that the "totally unprepared" Joe Biden would take over as president and plunge the United States "into a crisis," according to documents seized from bin Laden's Pakistan compound when he was killed in May 2011. The secretive documents, first reported in 2012 by The Washington Post, outlined a plan to take out Obama and top U.S. military commander David Petraeus as they traveled by plane. “The reason for concentrating on them is that Obama is the head of infidelity and killing him automatically will make [Vice President] Biden take over the presidency," bin Laden wrote to a top deputy.

The Trump administration on Tuesday prohibited undocumented college students from receiving emergency federal cash assistance for expenses like food, child care and housing. The economic rescue law passed by Congress gives $6 billion to colleges to dole out to students for expenses stemming from the disruption on campuses caused by the pandemic. But Education Department officials in new guidance said the money can go only to students who qualify for federal financial aid — U.S. citizens and some legal permanent residents. That prevents undocumented students from accessing the money, although the law includes no explicit restrictions on which students could receive the emergency grants.

American department stores, once all-powerful shopping meccas that anchored malls and Main Streets across the country, have been dealt blow after blow in the past decade. J.C. Penney and Sears were upended by hedge funds. Macy’s has been closing stores and cutting corporate staff. Barneys New York filed for bankruptcy last year. But nothing compares to the shock the weakened industry has taken from the coronavirus pandemic. The sales of clothing and accessories fell by more than half in March, a trend that is expected to only get worse in April. The entire executive team at Lord & Taylor was let go this month.

The kerfuffle over how much authority the president has vis-à-vis state governors boiled over at a recent White House coronavirus briefing. Missing in the debate is the conundrum that became apparent in August 2005, during Hurricane Katrina. I find it creepy how eager some people are for authorities to boss us around.
