Intelligence report warned of coronavirus crisis

As far back as late November, U.S. intelligence officials were warning that a contagion was sweeping through China’s Wuhan region, changing the patterns of life and business and posing a threat to the population, according to four sources briefed on the secret reporting. Concerns about what is now known to be the novel coronavirus pandemic were detailed in a November intelligence report by the military's National Center for Medical Intelligence (NCMI), according to two officials familiar with the document’s contents. (Snip) And it paints a picture of an American government that could have ramped up mitigation and containment efforts far earlier to prepare for a crisis poised to come home.

Here's what the article buried: "As a matter of practice the National Center for Medical Intelligence does not comment publicly on specific intelligence matters. However, in the interest of transparency during this current public health crisis, we can confirm that media reporting about the existence/release of a National Center for Medical Intelligence Coronavirus-related product/assessment in November of 2019 is not correct. No such NCMI product exists," the statement said." Lying bastids.

These guys can can really dig up the minutiae against a bete noire when they want to, can’t they? Can anybody remember what Trump was preoccupied with last November? When this pandemic is over, the first government group to be “reorganized” will be the CDC, from top to bottom. They are a total waste of breath. So are our vaunted “intelligence” agencies, who are full of Democrat holdovers from the Clinton and Obama regimes.

This article uses a lot of words and out of context procedures to bury the basic timeline: first warning in November, went to policy makers Nov-Dec including our vaunted NSC and didn't make the President's Daily Brief (PDB) until January. And...? It's true that these assessments go through a lot of vetting and continued analysis until it gets to the POTUS. This is for a reason; i.e., so some 20-something green horn or a foreign born LtCol don't drive the policy with biased analysis. The process is painful; I know. So the conclusion is Trump didn't pay attention - whaa. I have a question for DIA and NCMI: What is the status of the 300 soldiers who participated in the World Military Games in Wuhan in October? Analyze that.

There’s more than enough misleading information here for Schiff to hold House Intelligence Committee secret meetings in Capitol basement. He’ll call the same Democrat zealots disguised as law professors who will assure Schiff that the fake memo justifies impeachment, just as Trump’s normal phone call with Ukraine justified impeachment in 2019. Testimony from the Medical Intelligence Unit debunking the memo will be kept secret just as Schiff still keeps secret the testimony of his 18th witness last September. CNN and MSDNC will endlessly interview Schiff, Nadler and Pelosi on the proposed Articles of Impeachment. With the election just 7 months away, the Dems can’t just rely on voter fraud to win.

She says she told him that his constant bashing of the media was tiresome. “Why are you doing it?” she says she asked him. September 11, 2001 changed a lot of things for a lot of people. I’m no exception. Up until that monumental event I was only marginally political; I read the news, but hadn’t yet formed any sort of cohesive ideology. If anything, I was a fairly typical college student in the South, raised to respect tradition. A decade and a half after the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and Flight 93, another monumental event would soon rattle my worldview and drastically alter my political trajectory. And then the planes hit the towers, and my obsession with politics began.

Horse trading is the oxygen of politics; it is how politicians are persuaded to care about things that otherwise would not make their radar. Not only does it happen all the time, but it is a core feature of our political system; representative government relies on this kind of political trading to ensure a plurality of interests and needs are satisfied. Bargaining isn’t corruption—it’s policymaking. (snip) It is not corruption. It’s the warp and woof of a democratic political system.
