Ex wildlife chief: Trump rule could kill billions of birds

At a former open-pit copper mine filled with billions of gallons of toxic water, sirens and loud pops from propane cannons echo off the granite walls to scare away birds so they don't land.
After several thousand migrating snow geese perished in the Berkeley Pit's acidic, metal-laden waters in 2016, its owners deployed a sophisticated arsenal to frighten away flocks, including lasers, drones, fireworks and remote-controlled boats.
Montana Resources already had been hazing incoming birds with spotlights and rifle shots into the water — and a spokesman says those existing deterrents likely helped the company avoid a penalty or prosecution under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.

It could kill bird, but it also couldn't (if companies voluntarily comply to avoid bad publicity). Tis is not the 1940's or 50's and corporations and the public are much more sensitive and aware of wildlife and the impact of their projects on the environment. There are also local environmental rules that they must still comply with. The environmental do gooders must stop looking at every developer or corporation as an enemy of the environment. Most have dempnstrated that you can have development and a clean environment (and animals).

Have they forgotten how many birds die from colliding with wind turbines?

The only birds I like are chickens and turkeys. Former fried or BBQ. The later roast. Also since these two can't fly worth a flip they don't require me to wash my car, etc. I once bought a $ 5 cup of coffee and, as I was drinking it, a bird flying over scored a direct hit into my cup. Alfred Hitchcock's movie The Birds illustrate why they are to be feared and loathed. More cats. Fewer birds.

Hey AP, lots of humans are dying right now because of a communist government you cover for. Birds are just not that important right now.

Trust me when I say there is no shortage of those nasty Canadian geese.
And they no longer migrate back and forth - they are lazy bums who stay where they are not wanted.

Almost record time for the corrupt, Dem propaganda media to come up with a "sky is falling" "expert" on a Trump policy they disagree with

Aren't they being fried mid-flight over the solar panels? In addition to #2 mentioned wind turbines.

They make this personal by saying "Trump". Without looking, I'm sure if Barry Obama made any unpopular decisions, it wasn't framed like this. This is so unfair and dishonest. There is a huge bureaucracy that has many minions who were on the payroll before Trump was elected, and who are making decisions. That being said, it's probably a stinking lie anyway.

So let's talk about the wind powered solar energy towers and how many eagles those babies have killed. Or how about the solar panels in Vegas which fry birds in midair if they fly over the panels. Leftist policies and schemes have killed more wildlife for real than Trump ever has or will. Anyone remember the poisoned river on Obama's watch? That river was vital to three states, not to mention the aquatic life and the wildlife which drank from it. How much has Obama killed?

What a stupid moronic article. That pit filled with poisonous water was there long before Trump got elected. More likely during Barry's reign while he was stuffing his coffers with mining money. As for killing birds, nothing does a better job than whirling wind mills. Visit any one of them now (if you can sneak in without getting arrested) and you'll find the ground littered with corpses.
