Trump team failed to follow NSC’s
pandemic playbook

The Trump administration, state officials and even individual hospital workers are now racing against each other to get the necessary masks, gloves and other safety equipment to fight coronavirus — a scramble that hospitals and doctors say has come too late and left them at risk. But according to a previously unrevealed White House playbook, the government should’ve begun a federal-wide effort to procure that personal protective equipment at least two months ago.

Monday morning Quarterbacking at it's finest. Obviously, no football coach would ever sway from their playbook

I don't believe anything Politico say. Credibility completely gone. Not sure where the lie is but sure it is to be found.

The NSC ? The group that believes only they know how to run a country? That group where the impeachment " witnesses" against Trump came from?

According to the Playbook - the States - including New York State - were supposed to stockpile ventilators, masks, gowns, etc. They did not do that. I wonder what they spent those Federal grants on instead of public health materials?

Crud. Now we can have Shifty back in his secret SCIF plotting Impeachment #2 for not doing what the NSC wants again. When did I vote for NSC? I know I vote for President, Senators, and Congressman. But I didn't see NSC on the last ballot I cast.

Government studies are a dime a dozen. You go to war with the army you've got; you fight a pandemic with the bureaucracies you've got. The real issue is strategic surprise. By any measure, Trump was ahead of the game by shutting down China flights. Democrats will pick and choose "facts" from what was nothing but bureaucratic noise that they themselves ignored.

This appears to be an Obama-era 'playbook.' Was it similar quality to the obamacare playbook? Obama was advised to replenish the 100 million N95 respirator masks used in the 2009 swine flu epidemic that killed over 12,000 people. He didn't do it.

When a war starts, and this is certainly a pandemic war, the best laid plans are the first that go down the tubes. You have to remember back on any past date certain, the White House team only knew what they knew at the time and not what would be subsequently known weeks in the future. If you have been watching President Trump since he was elected, the last thing Trump wanted to happen is for a Chinese corona virus to sneak into the USA through “open borders” inside the bodies of up to 3,000 Chinese a week who were flying direct from China to the USA, spread to Americans making them sick, and doing a hatchet job on the US economy.

Well, gee, Politico. Maybe if you and your leftist pals in the House hadn’t been interfering with PDT and his administration via the impeachment idiocy for weeks on end, he might have had more time to deal with this kind of thing. But, no. You just had to impeach him and then you just had to call him a racist for closing our border to the Chinese. Now shut up and drop dead.

Undocumented workers have long filled thousands of jobs in Massachusetts on construction sites, in restaurant kitchens and on cleaning crews. And like their coworkers, many have been laid off as efforts to stem the spread of the coronavirus bring everyday life to a standstill. But there's one crucial difference: Undocumented immigrants can't access unemployment benefits. Three people who call the Boston area home, but have no legal status, shared their fears with WGBH News about surviving without a paycheck and, during a worsening public health crisis, being fearful of accessing medical help.

One of the cornerstones of the Senate coronavirus stimulus package is the direct payment of money from the federal government to American individuals and families. In the middle of the bill's hundreds of pages are details regarding exactly who can expect to receive money and how much they can expect. Here is a breakdown. Who is eligible? The bill makes clear that everyone is eligible except for nonresident aliens and those who can be used as the basis for deductions for another person. "Seniors, veterans, the unemployed and low-income Americans would be eligible too," Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley said Wednesday.

The reeling US newspaper industry will be eligible to tap a portion of the $2 trillion stimulus package that contains $349 billion earmarked for small businesses. But the potential rescue package comes too late to help dozens of newsrooms that have been slashing jobs as shuttered local businesses stop advertising. News advertising has plummeted between 20 and 30 percent in the past two weeks compared to a year ago, according to the International News Media Association. The Washingtonian stopped using freelancers, laid off all its fellows and instituted a 10 percent pay cut for surviving staffers. The Austin Chronicle is moving from a weekly

Governor Gretchen Whitmer from the Michigan Directorate has threatened to turn the eye of the state upon any doctor or pharmacist who would attempt to prescribe chloroquine to treat their patients suffering from coronavirus. Medical licenses may need to be revoked. The agency’s March 24 letter warns physicians and pharmacists of professional consequences for the prescribing of hydroxychloroquine (and chloroquine). Beyond the rational recommendation against hoarding, the letter includes threats of “administrative action” against the licenses of doctors that prescribe hydroxychloroquine.

Epidemiologist Neil Ferguson, who created the highly-cited Imperial College London coronavirus model, which has been cited by organizations like The New York Times and has been instrumental in governmental policy decision-making, offered a massive revision to his model on Wednesday. Ferguson’s model projected 2.2 million dead people in the United States and 500,000 in the U.K. from COVID-19 if no action were taken to slow the virus and blunt its curve. Ferguson thus dropped his prediction from 500,000 dead to 20,000.

President Trump pushed back at CBS reporter Paula Reid on Wednesday when she pushed the usual "nonpartisan experts say you're all wrong" line on him. After the live briefing, CNN host Wolf Blitzer turned to in-house analysts Daniel Dale -- the "fact checker" -- and Gloria Borger. Dale didn't check any facts, lamely noticing that Trump can't have any rallies, but he repeats his catch phrases like "big beautiful wall." Thanks, genius. Then Wolf Blitzer turned to Borger to lament the attack on those Nonpartisan Journalists. (Video)

I have updated this chart a number of times, based on data from the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control, and will continue to do so. It shows, for one thing, how far COVID-19 has to go before it equals the average seasonal flu mortality, worldwide. If I had to predict, I would guess that it will eventually reach the average level. Will it get to 2x the average number of flu deaths, worldwide? Looking at current trends, I don’t see how that will happen. But time will tell. Likewise in the U.S. You still can’t see the bar for COVID-19,
