Coronavirus Is the 'Chinese Virus'

Original Article

Posted By: Toledo, 3/18/2020 7:41:07 AM

This week, President Donald Trump came under fire for his use of the phrase "Chinese virus" to describe the coronavirus, the source of the new pandemic that has led to a global economic shutdown as well as lockdowns of citizens in every major Western country. That media have somehow found time to hone in on the one issue that matters least -- the labeling of a Chinese virus as such -- in the middle of an unprecedented planetwide freeze demonstrates the utter unseriousness of those objecting. That the term should be controversial at all is nearly beyond belief. The virus did indeed originate in China.

I think it will be helpful to note who comes up with the vaccination, as we try to determine the source. Some company or government is going to make billions on this.

We have a Chinese student living with for her high school senior year in our town. I asked her a couple of weeks ago what her parents/family call the virus? She said simply, "Wuhan".

Another desperate attempt by the media to get Trump. Like everything else they have tried, it will blow up in their faces. Frankly, I’m surprised that they haven’t started calling it the Trump Virus.

It is the Wuhan flu and that is not racist to say. Started in Wuhan, and hte media needs to start being honest about it and not trying to bring their own bias into the story as usual. The people who are really irksome right now are the so called experts who are trying to gin up even more fear in the population. I guess the media figured out they weren't getting the job done so they brought out more 'doctors' to lecture us.

A few weeks ago, Hindu friends and colleagues in India turned to me in desperation about the way in which the Western media has been covering the latest chapter in the forever ongoing Hindu-Muslim wars. Every single article in the mass media has blamed Hindus only and has presented the Muslims as the most innocent and non-violent of beings. Missing entirely is the history of eight hundred years of Muslim persecution of Hindus in India; what happened in 1948 that led to partitioning India into a Hindu state and into two Muslim states: Pakistan and thereafter, Bangladesh, both states where Hindus and Christians are persecuted.

Just a few days ago, the word "caremongering" did not exist. Yet just three days later what started as a way to help vulnerable people in Toronto has turned into a movement spreading fast across Canada. More than 35 Facebook groups have been set up in 72 hours to serve communities in places including Ottawa, Halifax and Annapolis County in Nova Scotia, with more than 30,000 members between them. People are joining the groups to offer help to others within their communities, particularly those who are more at risk of health complications related to coronavirus.

It's an indisputable fact that the Democratic Party has moved left in recent years. Now, the party is about to choose a standard-bearer, in the person of former Vice President Joe Biden, and what has become clear is that Biden has not only shifted left with his party over the years, he has taken significant leftward steps in recent weeks. Three examples. First, for years, Biden has defended the Obama administration's record on deportations against those on the left who criticized President Barack Obama as the "deporter in chief." Then came last month's Nevada caucuses.

Voters in three states will head to the polls on Tuesday amid a coronavirus health crisis that has led other states to postpone their elections. The primaries in Arizona, Florida and Illinois will continue as planned, as state officials say they’ve taken the necessary precautions to ensure that voters can safely cast ballots. The fate of Ohio's primary was settled late Monday when Gov. Mike DeWine (R) announced his administration would order all polling locations to be closed due to a health emergency, capping a day of mixed messages and confusion.

The “experts” and the “media” are eternally and loudly predicting doom and gloom, so I took Sunday to look at the bright side. Here is a view from ground level. Everybody went shopping last Thursday. Normally our local big chain crowds up on Sunday afternoon in the winter, but Thursday probably set an all-time attendance record. The atmosphere was all business; shoppers on a mission. There wasn’t a particular run on things, just those you would expect; rice, spaghetti noodles, mac and cheese. There was plenty of meat, and lots of beautiful produce. I love roasted red peppers.

The Centers for Disease Control has a $6.6 billion budget and one job which it messes up every time. The last time the CDC had a serious workout was six years ago during the Ebola crisis. Back then CDC guidelines allowed medical personnel infected with Ebola to avoid a quarantine and interact with Americans until they showed undeniable symptoms of the disease. There were no protocols in place for treating the potentially infected resulting in the further spread of the disease inside the United States. At the height of the crisis, confidence in the CDC fell to 37%.

After rattling the country with his implausible bravura and rather embarrassing statements at his press conference last week, where he astounded the scientific community with the depth of his epidemiological knowledge, President Trump is now turning the corner on the coronavirus crisis. His original performance was a bit like President Obama’s in 2014 when — after having tacitly encouraged the rise of ISIS with his petulant withdrawal from Iraq and having announced that he would intensify targeted bombing and increase training and advisory services to the defeated Iraqis — he declared,

Has the plague of coronavirus ushered in a new monetary age of the Purell-backed dollar? We first heard the wise crack from James Grant of the Interest Rate Observer. We’d called him for some wisdom after the Federal Reserve announced a plan to inject $1.5 trillion into the debt markets — only to see the Dow Jones index collapse by another 2,300 points. How else to redeem all these dollars? Is Purell the new gold? We don’t mean to belittle the seriousness of what is now officially declared to be a pandemic.

Black voters voting behavior is a perplexing dynamic. Their unwavering support of Democrat politicians and the liberal agenda that creates an illusion of caring about their plight of living life at the bottom is stunning. But this didn’t happen overnight. It’s been decades of head in the sand mentality that has cost black voters dearly. Recall former Democrat Senator Robert Byrd, who rose to a leadership position as a member of the Ku Klux Klan. Byrd filibustered the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

Michael Bloomberg was a horrible mayor. I will never forgive Bloomberg for destroying my home town. After the dreadful terror attack on 9/11, most of us wanted to give Mayor Rudy Giuliani a third term, even though term limits was the rule. Alas, Giuliani didn't have Bloomberg's billions because after Bloomberg's two nanny –filled terms, he managed to bribe the Democrat City Council to waive that rule. Phony baloney Bloomberg ran as a Republican in 2001 even though we knew he was a Massachusetts liberal Democrat but it was such a terrible time that we were shell-shocked by the horror in our city.

On August 18, 1944, Senator Harry S. Truman met President Franklin D. Roosevelt for lunch at the White House. Truman had just been nominated to be Roosevelt’s running mate that year, and the two men dined on the White House lawn and chatted about the upcoming campaign. Truman had not seen the president for over a year and was shocked at Roosevelt’s haggard appearance. He noticed that FDR was so ill that he couldn’t even pour cream into his coffee. Despite seeing direct evidence of Roosevelt’s poor health, Truman told reporters afterwards that Roosevelt “Looked fine...He’s as keen as a briar.” Truman was lying. Roosevelt was a dying man,
