During his address to supporters on Tuesday night, former Vice President Joe Biden confused his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, which his sister, Valerie Biden Owens. "They don't call it Super Tuesday for nothing!" Biden exclaimed, touting his success in the majority of states. "By the way, this is my little sister, Valerie," Biden said, grabbing his wife Jill's hand. He then grabs his sister's hand saying, "And I'm Jill's husband." Jill Biden was laughing as though her husband was making a joke. Valerie, however, was looking to Jill for a response.

Is it possible that the day before early voting begins in a October, Biden simply cannot be at the top of the ticket. “He has Alzheimers” they announce. They need his running mate, a loving and sympathetic wife and daughter who understands the needs of this poor old white guy and all Americans dealing with aging parents to step up to the top of the ticket in the greatest “surprise“ in modern American political history... Enter Michelle. Weirder things have happen.

My wife and I saw this behavior with her father--confusion, wandering off, etc. Based on our experience, he's in the early stages of dementia. If by any chance, he's elected, he'll be a figurehead, like in that old Star Trek episode where the once revered ambassador who preached Naziism to the people of the planet to help them get organized and later on was was doped up by the evil guys who took over. Only this time, the people who will be calling the shots will be Valerie Jarrett, the real president for eight years, and Obama. We can't let this happen.

in 1972, George McGovern selected Tom Eagleton to be his running mate. Eagleton had a well known history of severe depression, known to 'everybody' who worked in the Senate, according to my graduate assistant, who had been a Senate staffer. when news reports came out that Eagleton had undergone shock treatments for his depression, McGovern said he supported Eagleton 1000 per cent, but dumped Eagleton a day or so later. how did the dimocrat party, by then,m post convention, handle the replacement process? They held a conference call among the members of the DNC, and selected Sargent Shriver to be the VP running mate. (Shriver was JFKs brother in law, and a nice fellow. The DNC believed that some of the Kennedy magic would have rubbed off on shriver. They were wrong.) why do I tell this story? Because if Biden wins the nomination, his running mate could replace biden by the DNC, and the DNC would be praised by the media for doing so. and that is why I am really interested to see who the VP nominee will be.

What's most appalling is that the Democrat powers-that-be and a lot of democrat voters are willing to vote for a mentally failing candidate in order to satisfy their Trump-hatred. Biden has a reputation for making gaffes, but his recent behavior is far beyond an occasional mistake. There's something fishy going on with his "amazing" Super Tuesday surge and how every democrat talking head is linking Biden's surge to the recent 600 point rise in the DOW, including The Washington Post. Is the push for Biden a strategy to get him elected & then for him to bow out because of medical reasons, leaving the VP, or someone in the shadows, to run the country? I wouldn't put it past the cheaters on the left.

I have become truly concerned about Joe Biden's diminished cognitive mental abilities. What the media refers to as "gaffes" made by Mr. Biden, they are actually symptoms of either dementia, mild-cognitive impairment, or Alzheimer's. My mother passed away recently after suffering a 10 battle with Alzheimer's. At the onset of her disease my mother exhibited similar symptoms to what Joe Biden is exhibiting now. She had difficulty thinking and understanding, was confused and/or disoriented, became forgetful, tended to make things up, had difficulty concentrating, had difficulty recognizing common things, and became irritable. I am not a physician merely a loving son that lost his mother to a dreaded disease called Alzheimer's. I hope for his sake, and the sake of our country, Mr. Biden submits to a complete physical, including cognitive testing prior to the November election.

“Not me, us.” The message that Bernie Sanders has campaigned on throughout the 2020 primary became a self-soothing mantra for his supporters last night. At a bar in Washington, D.C.’s Penn Quarter neighborhood—just blocks from the theater where Abraham Lincoln was shot—a group of more than 100 Sanders followers stood, shoulder to shoulder, facing two massive projector screens, as results from Super Tuesday states trickled in. The event, hosted by a local Democratic Socialists of America group, had all the hallmarks of a gathering of Bernie fans: a patchwork of flannel shirts, scattered baskets of red-rose buttons, and very few people over the age of 35. Yet the mood was uncharacteristically somber.

For decades, the cliché about American political parties has gone that "Republicans fall in line, while Democrats fall in love." But for a significant portion of today's Democratic electorate, that is not the case. Joe Biden's campaign came back from the brink of death on Super Tuesday, on the winds of a sudden burst of coordinated support from the Democratic establishment. (Snip)But this flash coronation wasn't because Biden convinced his competitors that he had the best policies or the best temperament to take on Donald Trump. There is one reason and one reason alone the establishment has rallied around Biden: He is not Bernie Sanders.

She will run against incumbent Chip Roy in the general election on Nov. 3 to determine who will represent the district in the U.S. House of Representatives. In 2014, Davis lost to Gov. Greg Abbott in Texas’ gubernatorial race. Texas’ Congressional District 21 spans from Austin to San Antonio and covers Blanco and Gillespie counties.

Brokered conventions are the fan fiction of political junkies. They’re rich in dramatic possibilities, and can fill a mundane process with intrigue. In every presidential election, the prospect of a brokered convention is raised not because it is likely but because it is fun to discuss the what-ifs and to imagine the convention as something other than the choreographed boredom it has become. But now that a convention beginning without a clear nominee is more plausible, the amusing hypothetical has given way to a nightmarish reality. A contested convention would be an opportunity for a political party to tear itself to pieces on live television.

Bernie Sanders faced more pointed attacks last night over his potential vulnerabilities than he ever has at a debate. But the blustery and disorderly session once again failed to fully explore what could be the Vermont senator’s greatest general-election weakness: the massive size and scope of his spending and tax proposals, which, depending on the estimate, would cost $50 trillion to $60 trillion over the next 10 years. That would roughly double the size of the federal government, an unprecedented increase outside of wartime. More so than in any previous session, Sanders at times seemed rattled and tentative as his rivals subjected him to a crossfire of criticism—

Fifty years ago, the Broadway musical was marking time. The songwriters of the pre-rock era were all past their prime, and except for Burt Bacharach and Hal David in Promises, Promises and James Rado and Gerome Ragni in Hair, none of their successors was writing scores that made idiomatic use of contemporary pop music, much less producing shows whose subject matter reflected the fast-growing social complexities of modern American culture. Then, in the spring of 1970, Stephen Sondheim, a 40-year-old lyricist best known for writing the words to Leonard Bernstein’s music in West Side Story (1957) and Jule Styne’s in Gypsy (1959), teamed up with George Furth on a plotless show

“People across this country — Republicans, independents, and Democrats — agree that our top priority has to be fighting corruption in Washington,” Massachusets Sen. The case, key to the future of the CFPB, could also have broad implications on other independent federal agencies, according to experts. A decision is expected by the end of June. The dispute turns on whether the CFPB’s director is given too much independence. Entrepreneurs in Australia have an ambitious new plan they claim could provide enough electricity to replace 20 percent of the existing grid of Singapore. The idea is to pipe renewable solar energy through an undersea cable from Australia’s largely empty Northern Territory. If this sounds wild, it’s modeled after existing technology that’s already in use in similar contexts. The high voltage direct current (HVDC) cable, in its extra-long format, is in use in China and in Europe as part of those countries’ existing power grids. Europe’s system carries wind power among other sources, and combining as much capacity as possible into as few low-loss cables

Socialism these days is like the Hydra of lore: for every head chopped off, the monster regrows two. One cannot escape this metaphor when watching Bernie Sanders’s seemingly irresistible progress toward the Democratic presidential nomination. He defines himself as a socialist and clearly meets the criteria, starting with the historical models that he cites. The European social-democratic template of the 1960s, as achieved in the Scandinavian countries (the so-called Swedish model) and in France and Germany, is Sanders’s blueprint for the United States. Nostalgia likely inspires Sanders, at least to some degree—social democracy was at its peak when he was young.

A fired-up Senator Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., appeared to issue a vague warning toward Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh on Wednesday, during a rally held as the court heard arguments in a high-profile abortion case. (Snip) "I want to tell you, Gorsuch. I want to tell you, Kavanaugh. You have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price!" Schumer warned. "You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions."

It’s the year 2020 and the prodigal Dixie Chicks have finally returned, no thanks to George W. Bush and his ilk. Their new Jack Antonoff–produced single and music video, “Gaslighter,” dropped today, ahead of the May release of Gaslighter, the first new Chicks album in 14 years. Naturally, we have a landslide of feelings about it. Cowboy, take us away! Madison Malone Kircher: The Dixie Chicks are back! I could cry. In fact, I did. Rachel Handler: Let me begin by saying, for perhaps the 500th time in my brief life: Fuck you, George W. Bush. I cannot believe our erstwhile president nearly ruined music forever.

St. Louis resident Alicia Clarke says she feels as if she has been “failed by the system” and is now “not feeling safe,” and she has good reason to feel this way. After she was savagely beaten and stabbed by her neighbor, her attacker walked free. The court considered it decisive that he has an IQ of 49. He is also a Muslim migrant, which may explain both the reluctance to prosecute him and the scant and incomplete coverage this incident has received. St. Louis’ KSDK reported Monday that Clarke went out for a run near her home; when she returned, her cell phone was missing.

"The View" co-host Whoopi Goldberg didn't realize on Wednesday that the "Dr." in Dr. Jill Biden's title didn't represent a medical degree. After former Vice President Joe Biden's wins on Super Tuesday, Goldberg floated the candidate's wife for surgeon general. "I'm hoping Dr. Jill becomes the surgeon general ... she's a hell of a doctor. She's an amazing doctor," Goldberg said, as if she knew of the former second lady's medical expertise. After co-host Meghan McCain cast doubt on that, Goldberg said: "I could be wrong. I thought she was a PhD."

Republican Pierce Bush, a grandson of former President George H.W. Bush, failed to advance out of Tuesday’s primary in his bid for a Houston congressional seat, becoming the first member of his family to lose a race in Texas in more than 40 years. Aside from the recognition of coming from America’s most enduring Republican dynasty, Bush 34, was endorsed by the outgoing GOP incumbent, Rep. Pete Olson and raised more money than many of the other 14 candidates in the field. Troy Nehls and Kathaleen Wall, staunch defenders of President Donald Trump, advanced instead to the runoff.

Elizabeth Warren suspended her campaign on Thursday morning after her horrible Super Tuesday performance. The much expected move clears the way for a two-man race between former vice president Joe Biden, 77, and Democratic socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders, 78. On Wednesday, her campaign said she was assessing the future of her candidacy. “Last night, we fell short of viability goals and projections and we are disappointed in the results,” campaign manager Roger Lau said in an email to staff.

What Super Tuesday tells us is that a lot of Democrats would rather risk losing to President Trump with Joe Biden than allow a socialist like Bernie Sanders to hijack their party. That’s good for America, but it’s also a treacherous Hail Mary pass for the party. The 77-year-old former vice president showed why, moments after taking the stage in Los Angeles on Tuesday night: He mistook his wife for his sister. “They switched on me,” he tried to explain. He went on to give a good speech about healing the nation, and dutifully kept to the script on his teleprompter.

Mike Bloomberg dramatically quit the presidential race Wednesday morning after a disastrous Super Tuesday and immediately backed Joe Biden. The billionaire gained just 44 delegates by 10.11am, the time he announced his departure - but ran up a bill of $1 billion. He immediately and whole-heartedly backed Biden, the night's big winner, hinting that his vast fortune is now at the former vice-president's disposal.
