Will Obama let the Democratic Party sink

For someone as loquacious as Barack Obama, the current Democratic primary race must be almost painful to endure. The ex-president has said he would refrain from sticking his nose into likely the largest intramural party competition in recent memory, featuring two dozen candidates at one point. His former vice presidential partner, Joe Biden, was the longtime front-runner who faded and then

I assumed that was going to be a done deal when he got himself elected in ‘08. By 2016, it was “fait accompli.” The Dem Party succeeded in irreversibly branding itself as far leftist as I have ever seen in my seventy plus decades. It’s just a few tweaks to full-blown communism since Bolshevik Bernie had made such amazing headway amongst the Kool-aid proletariat this election cycle. It’s really going to be a mess this time, worse than the Chicago Riots in ‘68.

There is no fight quite like a fight between socialists over the spoils to be had by plundering capitalists. Does WWII ring a bell? Never mistake the resistance by a socialist against another as having a differing political position. It's when they both know they are in competition for the same prize that all hell breaks loose. To this day the average idiot sees Hitler and Stalin as opposite ends of the political spectrum when in fact they were conjoined twins fighting over the same liver. Do not mistake the democrat establishment's rally to stop Sanders as stopping socialism. They don't want the outsider to seize the power and spoils of totalitarian socialist rule. Socialist intramural squabbles have been among the bloodiest in history.

Obama’s game is to select Biden’s Vice-President who will become President after Biden rides off to a five star Florida rest home. Chances are that Obama pick will be a very liberal minority person who has not recently been on the national political scene and who could not get elected President in his or her own rite. In return Obama will endorse Biden. As the incumbent President that Obama pick would then be eligible to run for re-election in 2024 and 2028. But first Biden has to defeat Trump in the general election.

It’s one of those scenes most everyone takes for granted but shouldn’t — a makeshift polling station set up for the day inside a school gym, a neighbor’s garage, fire station, veteran’s club or, in this case, a church activity center. You walk in, wait briefly, sign the book, take a ballot to a fold-up cardboard voting booth, slip it in the box and be gone, duty done. And sacred privilege exercised. No voter intimidation. I’ve voted in pretty much every election since 1964

News is what is, well, new. The trouble with the Internet age is its insistent, nonstop demand for news faster than news happens. That’s what Mike Bloomberg did Thursday to Bernie Sanders, the front-runner in the Democratic primary contests. Thirty-six hours before the South Carolina primary Bloomberg is trying to raise renewed concerns about the health of Sanders, who suffered a heart attack in October. The New Yorker’s campaign released detailed blood flow numbers from Bloomberg’s latest physical exam last summer. Both men are 78, older than anyone ever entering or exiting the White House.

The U.S. military is about to experience another first: Barring injury in the next few weeks, an enlisted soldier is about to become the first female Green Beret in Army history. That comes seven years after the Pentagon lifted its longtime ban on women serving in combat roles. As with all special operators, the military does not release names or identification. But the woman is expected to graduate soon from the rugged, roughly year-long qualification course and become a Special Forces engineer sergeant. Another woman is also making her way through the demanding yearlong course. The length of the course depends on the operator’s specialty

The future show also shouldn’t air between 5 and 6 p.m. when local restaurants offer their discounted Blue Plate Specials. And as seniors know now, 9 p.m. is the new midnight. Have you noticed somehow once-pedestrian television ratings, those arcane numbers that used to be the subject of churning stomachs only within that industry, have come now to resemble sports franchises, each with its own avid fan base rooting for their favorite, as if it mattered? As a reflection of the bitter partisan splits affecting many Americans, people privately cheer good news for one network and bad news for another. And vice versa. Fox News is kind of like the dominant New England Patriots that win a lot — too much in the eyes of non-New Englanders. Fox News has won a lot of ratings competitions since Rupert Murdoch founded it

What Super Tuesday tells us is that a lot of Democrats would rather risk losing to President Trump with Joe Biden than allow a socialist like Bernie Sanders to hijack their party. That’s good for America, but it’s also a treacherous Hail Mary pass for the party. The 77-year-old former vice president showed why, moments after taking the stage in Los Angeles on Tuesday night: He mistook his wife for his sister. “They switched on me,” he tried to explain. He went on to give a good speech about healing the nation, and dutifully kept to the script on his teleprompter.
