Dr. Marc Siegel explained yesterday that those with symptoms should be the ones wearing masks. The masks to not protect the rest of us against airborne droplets from sneezing or coughing which can enter through the eyes. Or can get onto our hands and be carried to our faces and eyes...

Ten plus years ago N1H1 was gripping the country. I had a 28 year old niece die from that strain of flu in three days. In all approximately over 4,000 Americans died. At no time was the country as hysterical about those circumstances as they are now. I also don't remember the stock market going bonkers. Yes there is a need for concern. We want to know what precautions to take and that our medical community is supplied with what they need. But the media is acting this is a replay of the Hawaiian natives being exposed to disease by James Cook. It appears one of the biggest problems is the lack of medications being produced and shipped back to the United States. Time to reconsider who makes our meds and have these factories right here, at home. I read an article this week that reported that Obama did not get involved with the N1H1 problem until 1,000 Americans had died. One American has died and there could be more but this is not the end of the world. Cooler heads need to prevail.

To be correct the "hoax" were the Democrats blaming Trump for not acting expeditiously. Blame is the watchword for Democrats whose coffers of support for this administration are empty.

Yep. Just like the regular flu, you will probably be fine. While multiple orders of magnitude more people are likely to die from the regular flu, that flu does not have the cachet of hysteria that COVID-19 does. So those people will just have to die being ignored.

A note about some of the early posters: Articles don't always get published and stay published in their original form. News orgs will edit a piece. I didn't see Trump references in the article... but that doesn't mean they weren't there. Good insight on previous .... plagues.

News is what is, well, new. The trouble with the Internet age is its insistent, nonstop demand for news faster than news happens. To satisfy this perceived need for new news products, writers are forced to improvise. The result is consumers are too often offered instead questions: Will Obama finally take sides? Can Bernie be beaten? Or, What’s at stake on Super Tuesday? Worse, 5 takeaways from South Carolina. None of them have real answers, just conjecture. Which isn’t news. Anything to

So, you probably saw that Pete Buttigieg dropped out of the Democratic primary race over the weekend after another disappointing finish, this time in South Carolina. It’s a classic political move: Do something you know an opponent doesn’t want to do and challenge him to match you. That’s what Mike Bloomberg did Thursday to Bernie Sanders, the front-runner in the Democratic primary contests. Thirty-six hours before the South Carolina primary Bloomberg is trying to raise renewed concerns about the health of Sanders, who suffered a heart attack in October. The New Yorker’s campaign released detailed blood flow numbers from Bloomberg’s latest physical exam last summer. Both men are 78, older than anyone ever entering or exiting the White House.

In fact, 60 percent of likely Democratic primary voters know that

The U.S. military is about to experience another first: Barring injury in the next few weeks, an enlisted soldier is about to become the first female Green Beret in Army history. That comes seven years after the Pentagon lifted its longtime ban on women serving in combat roles. As with all special operators, the military does not release names or identification. But the woman is expected to graduate soon from the rugged, roughly year-long qualification course and become a Special Forces engineer sergeant. Another woman is also making her way through the demanding yearlong course. The length of the course depends on the operator’s specialty

Have you noticed somehow once-pedestrian television ratings, those arcane numbers that used to be the subject of churning stomachs only within that industry, have come now to resemble sports franchises, each with its own avid fan base rooting for their favorite, as if it mattered? As a reflection of the bitter partisan splits affecting many Americans, people privately cheer good news for one network and bad news for another. And vice versa. Fox News is kind of like the dominant New England Patriots that win a lot — too much in the eyes of non-New Englanders. Fox News has won a lot of ratings competitions since Rupert Murdoch founded it

Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg explained in an interview with “60 Minutes” why he believes America will choose him over President Donald Trump this fall by characterizing those who swept Trump into office as mounting a “revolution” against the educated elite. “A few years ago there was a revolution against the intelligentsia,” Bloomberg told CBS’ Scott Pelley. “People said, ‘you know, those people, particularly on the coasts, are trying to tell us what to do.’ They wanted a change. That explains Donald Trump. Now, people seem to have changed. This cycle, people want stability.”
