A number of pundits have recently argued that younger voters, especially those under 30, are less inclined to be bothered when they hear the word “socialism,” since they have no firsthand memory of the Cold War.
To some extent, this must be true. Those who weren’t alive during socialism’s cruelest catastrophes — or even its many banal failures — will be less put off by the idea. Then again, if a presidential candidate were praising the excellent public transportation system of the Third Reich or going on about the some alleged benefit to American slavery, they would rightly be chased from the public square forever

When you get enough people looking for a hand out with the ability to vote, you get Old Commie Bernie.

Easy, we don't teach history anymore -- neither the world's nor our own. Thus leaving the majority of Millennials and Gen Xers intellectually shallow and perpetually ignorant.

How many of us L.dotters grew up in families who had parents who served in the military or who had parents and grandparents who lived through HARD TIMES? We heard the stories of hardship and having little of nothing to call our own and our parents sacrificed and DID WITHOUT all the conveniences of life?
Who had holiday gatherings of family where often times the men would hang out together and talk about their military service, or being away from home during the holidays service their country somewhere far from home? How many of us have never really known a time in our lives where having a hovel to live in, or enough food to eat, or the basics of life were at risk?
To be sure, there are many who do live in poverty. There are many who have it worse and MUCH WORSE than we do, but the solution is NOT socialism and its unintended consequences of virtual slavery and servitude to the government dole.
Much of what is fueling the adoration of CrAZy Bernie the Red is that many of the younger followers don't KNOW and correctly perceive the dangers of government dependence, and earning a HARD_EARNED dollar, and are SPOILED rotten.
They have a sense of "fairness" and think that money to pay for everything is easily within reach, and that we already have socialism in small amounts and that we can do good by having more of it. People have lost their lives for disagreeing with tyrannical dictators who give things out to secure support only to have them taken away.....
In the Great Depression there was much human suffering, but a lot of character building, and the Greatest Generation is all but gone now, and their children are fading out of the picture now. With 30-35% of the young people below age 32 (and eligible to vote), the challenge is real.
They haven;t thought about what happens when all the money from the "rich" is GONE forever, and the consequences.

How can Bernie happen? FTA: 'For that matter, many Americans — including Bernie — lived through Stalin and Pol Pot and Mao and they still champion the idea of socialism.' For dye-red in the wool commies like Bernie, it doesn't matter if socialism works for the people; it only matters that it works for THEM. They don't really care about the downtrodden. They expect to be millionaires with their dacha by the lake. For Bernie, that's already happened. ditto the klintoons, the obummers etc. etc.

Place the blame where it belongs, in our schools and colleges.
Our youth is being taught by liberals and socialists.

It's disastrous the malpractice that many colleges and many professors are doing to their students. Many of the students will not have successful lives. They are creating the worst generation.

First the Socialism, followed by a totalitarian government to back it as it falls apart, and lastly the confiscation of guns to prevent an uprising.

Sanders was an obscure congressional laughingstock for DECADES - even among lefty democrats - until Barack Hussein Alinsky came along and radicalized a bunch of economic illiterates by astroturfing and embracing the OWS mob using textbook Marxist class warfare rhetoric giving Bernie his opening.
Nice work Barry, you screwed your party REAL GOOD !

The lazy, greedy, low information crowd has been putting democrat politicians into office since LBJ figured out that magic formula. They don't care what name you give the system as long as the groceries, housing, beer and cigarettes keep arriving free and on time. If they managed to gather enough numbers to put Bernie into office, they would enjoy life for a year or two and then the horror of what they had done would hit them hard. Atlas would shrug and the bread lines would turn into crumb lines.

We have found the enemy.... School and college education in our country is now indistinguishable from child abuse. Unless that is corrected there will be a string of Bernies coming along. There wouldn't be a PDT every time to stop them!

Easy, it was by design.
Perhaps we should have listened to Khrushchev. Soviet dictator Nikita Khrushchev said of Roosevelt’s “New Deal” paradigm shift, “We can’t expect the American people to jump from Capitalism to Communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving them small doses of Socialism, until they awaken one day to find that they have Communism.”
All we had to do was to listen to our enemies and take them seriously. No conjecture, no untested wild speculation, no conspiracy theories no tin foil hats.

#4, sometimes, nothing had to be said at all. It is deeply etched in my mind that my Uncle Virgil fought in World War II. I clearly remember him sitting in my grandfather's kitchen talking to himself, and we were told he had "shell shock" from fighting in the war. A picture is worth a thousand words.

The dimocrat party has been the socialist party for many years. They were implementing socialism incrementally--more and more free stuff. With the current line up of dim candidates they are willing to jump right into full socialism. The socialist supporters today just see it as more free stuff and believe this country is not capable of devolving into another Maoist, Che, Castro, Stalin, etc. experience. I don't care to test that theory and neither do the majority of voters in 2020.

They would never refer to it as the dumbing down of America.
It was their brilliant indoctrination of students, while their dumb parents allowed it.

"How Can Bernie Sanders Happen in America?"
1. Because of the msm.
2. Because of a sense of entitlement.
3. They have never experienced first-hand, a world war and the fought-for values of freedom.
4. They have never had it so good and do not understand why our land of plenty has made it all possible.
5. Lack of spiritual training, most of them reject God and have never gone to church.
6. They have been conditioned to believe less is better and if they can't have it, you can't have it.
7. They suffer from economic ignorance.
8. They suffer from historical ignorance.
9. They suffer from societal ignorance.
10. They have succumbed to the brainwashing effects of social media. Thanks, Zuckie.
11. They have been controlled by our indoctrination centers since Age 5.
12. Their teachers apologize for America almost every day.
13. They have been raised in a PC culture since they were old enough to cry.
14. They hate their divorce mothers for bringing them up badly.
15. Disintegration of the family unit.
16. They have never experienced hardship. No depression. No food shortages.
17. Wi Fi always available and so is social media.

Bernie could make the argument that slaves were the beneficiaries of socialism. The slaves got free food, shelter, medical care, and a free education in agriculture! C'mon Bernie, let's hear it!

Wait, what? "especially those under 30" No. When I was in high school in the 1970s, I had a social studies teacher who had visited the Soviet Union and she sang the praises of their system. A high school teacher evangelizing class after class of teenagers about the wondrous virtues of communism. In the 70s. The same government that gives us FBI, DOJ etc. also gives us government/public education. OF COURSE that government is going to teach the young that authoritarian tyranny is wonderful!

The schools have been being infiltrated since the 1920s, and it has taken generations of leftist traitors worming their way into the system to get there. They finally reached critical mass in the 70s, just after I left the college campus, but since then have been running riot with their Marxist propaganda lies.

Bernie Sanders used a method Hitler used to take over Germany. He had minions publishing Hitler's policies throughout Germany. This method was easier with Sanders as he has a better communications system than Hitler did. The socialist propaganda was used to inculcate socialism in the entire school system and that made it even easier for Sanders ideas to come to fruition across the nation. Now Sanders may be the Democrat nominee. I was a Sailor for 30 years fighting against socialism or communism becoming the American system and losing the Constitution, one of the best documents giving the people the power and not the government. It's a sad day when a professed socialist (Sanders is actually a communist) is running for president.

It was interesting reading all the reasons for Bernie, except we forgot to blame the Democratic Party. When Bernie left the Republican Party as a senator to become an Independent the Decorates jumped all over him to caucus with them for the need of a majority. If Bernie was not left alone as an Independent he would have no platform to run from. Problem solved as always the Democrats will do anything to have a majority dead voters, aliens etc.. They will sometime in the future regret Bloomberg. Its a shame they have no viable people in their own party and it's a reason to never vote for them because they have no principles.

I think most of the socialism kiddies have been the beneficiaries of a parental "free lunch" - handed everything, working for nothing. And, to some of them, Bernie just looks like the generous and loving grandpa they had or wish they'd had.
When one grows up, one learns that there is no such thing as a "free lunch." Somebody has to pay. And most of us know that both Bernie and the "free" lunch he is offering are lethal.
