San Francisco Mayor London Breed has declared a local emergency amid coronavirus fears.
“Although there are still zero confirmed cases in San Francisco residents, the global picture is changing rapidly, and we need to step up preparedness,” Breed said in a statement Tuesday. “We see the virus spreading in new parts of the world every day, and we are taking the necessary steps to protect San Franciscans from harm.”
While three people have been treated for COVID-19 at San Francisco hospitals, there have been no confirmed cases of the illness in the city. Breed made the announcement following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s warning

LOL
I hope the emergency crews don't slip and fall in the human feces and get stabbed by drug needles littering SF.
Does this guy have priorities or what? "We don't have any cases now of the corona-virus, but we want to be prepared!" hahahahaha

"Never Let A Good Crisis Go To Waste"... Even if it is someone else's crisis? That's new.
If only there was something in San Fran that had actually killed people, so they could make addressing that an emergency. If only there was someeeethinnnnng. Hummm?

Is he trying to cause a panic? No confirmed cases. Rush says it's nothing more than a bad cold. All the other dire epidemics/pandemics pretty much were much about nothing. The only serious pandemic was the Spanish Flu in 1918, which started at a pig farm in, I believe, Oklahoma.

Zero confirmed cases, but he declares and emergency....these idiots don't have all their neural pathways connected...he ought to be more worried about endemic diseases from all the poop and needles littering his streets...

If I was in SF I would be more concerned with fecal coliform or cholera. Are they ho-hum about AIDS now?

The Democrats are creating an issue to use against Trump.
On the other hand, SF is a port city getting shipments from Asia. That would apply to any port on the west coast though. If we are restricting flights from China, what about other transportation?

The answer to Op is yes. The only problem, she can NOT justify the emergency. She has zero people infected. This woman really needs help.

So, is cleaning up the poop sources part of the plan?
Yeah, I didn't think so. But they'll be happy to take some of that $8.5B that Chuckie Schumer wants to use as pre-election payola.

@ #9 - There is no he/she qualifier in the above snippet and my default was male, or at least XY, never occurred to me to be a female name, since I live on the right coast and don't know all the players in CA politics. I also thought Chesa Boudin was female until I found out otherwise. What's in a name? A lot of first impressions. Seems to be other poster's default gender guess, too.
That being said, as others have noted, SF would be better suited to issue a fecal emergency.

I've read there's concern that COVID-19 may be spread in feces, which implies it may be much worse in third world countries such as San Francisco.

If the Corona Virus is caused by Schiff in the streets you'd better give Schiff a Schiff shovel and tell him to start shoveling Schiff. I live in the Atlanta, GA area and driving around today I saw 2 homeless people (previously known as bums) wearing masks for the deadly corona virus. I don't need any new diseases. But 99% of what I worry about has two legs.

Next, he'll recommend/force everyone there to wear wreaths of garlic around their necks in order to prevent vampirism. See?! We solved the impending vampire crisis.

So he calls an emergency for a non existant disease in his city but ignores disease ridden feces all over his streets. Typical touchy feely out of touch liberal.

So, this idiot mayor declares an emergency for a disease which does not exist at all in the city, and barely exists at all in the whole USA, and which no American has died of -- while ignoring all the other diseases brought in by the much catered-to illegal aliens; multiple drug resistant tuberculosis, leprosy, Chagas, Dengue Fever and the disease spread by the human filth in his streets; shigella, Hepatitis A, typhus, trench fever, lice, rats - all sorts of medieval horrors once eliminated in modern America.
Insanity, no question about it. Ignore REAL health threats and declare an emergency for a currently imaginary "threat". Things may change, COVID-19 may become a real thing in SanFran, or the USA one day, but now it is not any sort of a real threat.
Relax, breathe normally, and stop with the foolishness, like this "emergency".

Last night on the local news they did a story on China Town in SF. They're losing business because people are afraid of the virus. Guess who was there? Old Nancy Pelosi was telling people not to be afraid and to visit. She wasn't even wearing a face mask.

What did you expect? Pelosi came out and said Trump was behind the power curve on the Coronavirus. That means that Pelosi's minions have to get behind her to support that statement. The state of California may get behind her because Chuck U Schumer wants 8.5 billion dollars to fight the virus. That would possibly mean a bucket full of money for California. The government is as crooked as a fiddlers elbow.

I'd be more worried about the spread of fical borne pathogens in your filthy city mayor, rather than focusing on the Corona Virus. What exactly do you plan on doing mayor, placing China Town in you stinking city in quarantine?

Apparently typhus and other 3rd world diseases arising from the poop and pee on the streets isn't considered a crisis but lack of the coronavirus is.
