The Trump administration today is reinstating a Clinton-era welfare reform rule -- once widely embraced by top Democrats in Congress -- requiring immigrants to be self-sufficient, a move that could end up to $3 billion in federal and state welfare payments to them. After receiving a blessing from the Supreme Court Friday, the so-called “Public Charge Grounds Final Rule” kicked in nationally, essentially forcing immigrants to prove that they won’t become a burden on taxpayers.

Dem (dim) leaders naturally turn their backs on good policies they'd once promoted. If it comes from this Trump administration it just can't be tolerated. And many communities will themselves step up to support their own - as they (we) should. It isn't charity when it comes from money taken by force, i.e., taxes.

Dems are going to squall like stuck pigs about the cruelty of PDJT, taking away the safety nets of the poor, poor, pitiful migrants, but I liken it to cataract surgery. Little by little, layers of safety nets have been laid out over the decades, and citizens are mostly unaware of how blinded we've become. Trump comes in and slices through the bureaucracy and suddenly the veil is lifted - WE CAN SEE AGAIN!!!

Yeah, the Dems and MSM will howl about this-because Trump did it. If I were POTUS, I'd answer these critics with a link to the record archive in Congress showing specifically who voted for this legislation, who proposed it, and why they said it was necessary. I'd shove it right in their faces.

Yes, high time. The notion that people can come from anywhere for free everything created the caravans and every other form of illegal immigration. And even the “legals” must be self-sustaining. Our ancestors had to be.
I recall how much financial verification my late friend had to provide to be permitted to live in France. And it was checked periodically.

I'm tired of paying taxes to support people who view my country as one giant piggy bank, disobey our laws and disrespect our values at the first opportunity.

Hallelujah! I'll never forget the day we were called to a meeting at the health unit where I worked, and told point blank that if we only had enough money for services for one client, and two applied, we HAD to give the service to the illegal alien first, even if the other was an American citizen. Thank god for Trump.

What are they going to do about the "Free card" for anchor babies ?
I say offer them a free ride back to where they came from. Most think of those invaders south of the border but we have half of the Caribbean to support too.

When people immigrated through Ellis Island, they had to demonstrate they weren't sick, had family to support them, were able to work and have enough money to pay for their food and transportation. No unwed mothers. They remained in a maternity ward until the baby was born and it was not an American citizen.
