A civil rights group is calling on Roman Catholic church leaders to reject a sermon in which a Minnesota priest described Islam as a threat to the U.S. and Christianity.
The Rev. Nick VanDenBroeke is pastor of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in the small town of Lonsdale.
He said during a Jan. 5 sermon that large numbers of Muslims should not be allowed to seek asylum or immigration to the U.S.
The homily that was posted for the public on the church's website has since been deleted.
"I believe it is essential it is to consider the religion and the world view of the immigrants or refugees.
Never, never apologize for the truth!

Never apologize. Say it louder.
The problem is 9/11 is lost in lazy thinking, ignorant chatter and willful BS. Here we go again, I figure.

In cases like this it is best to take the advice of (attributable to Churchill or Queen Victoria, or both): 'Never apologize, never explain...' In general, I'd say good words to live by.

Islam IS a threat to Christianity and to every other religion that is not Islam. Their book tells them they must subdue the polytheists and unbelievers by any means necessary. And because Islam is a political as well as religious creed it poses a threat to all non-Islamic nations politically, culturally and philosophically. Islam cannot coexist with the non-Islamic world - their book tells them this quite clearly.

The fact that it is no longer permissible to identify the problem means that we already LOST. It's only a matter of time unless some modicum of sanity is restored soon.
The UK is a generation away from loosing their own Nation and two generations away from regressing to barbarism.
The rest of Europe is right behind them.
And we are next in line right after that.

Didn't go far enough.
The being called 'Allah' is nothing but a demon of Hell, a minion of Satan. Islam is the worship of a demon, and nothing but that. Evil. A doctrine of demons. Why should we pretend otherwise? Certainly we can and must pray that the Lord will open their eyes and enable them to make their way to Him. But to defer to and even pretend respect for this? NEVER!

The Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations
There.
That's ALL you need to know about who complained about this. Where is the Archbishop of the Diocese on this? Where is the RCC Council on this? Are they going to stand up for the Faith? The SHOULD assert that is Islam IS a threat, an anti-Christian vicious meme.
Why isnt the Parish protesting this apology? There never should have been one.

Islam is NOT a religion. It IS Political Ideology. And it DOES threaten, not only Christianity, not only the U.S., but the whole world

Why is any organization outside of the Church (and maybe the Synod... if that's the right term) to interfere with the teaching of the Church? I'm trying to recall whether or not BO's old pastor Jeremiah was reprimanded by any authority/ies? I doubt it, because the complainant would have been castigated as racist.
Stand on the Truth and facts. Religious Muslims cannot swear allegiance to any authority other than their own deity. Some who don't ascribe to orthodoxy have shown themselves to be true Patriots, and yet are able to practice their religion in its moderate formulation. But the worry we legitimately have is that the fundamentalist Muslims eventually, once embedded (thinking about what has happened in Great Britain), will demand the "right" to practice sharia law.
So while other people practice their faiths religiously, even fundamentally, IF they commit a crime they are subject to the Laws of the Land. There have been "conscience" cases where the person asserts his religious convictions as preventing him from doing transgressive things. An example might be the conscientious objector. Sharia practitioners insist on THEIR laws having priority. This is why we have had cases of so-called "honor killings". I remember reading an article by a Canadian who was bemoaning the influx of Muslims who claim the right to polygamy, and who have been relying on government (i.e. taxpayers) largesse for social services, usually for many children. (not saying anything about how many children one ought to have)
So the Pastor may have spoken strongly and bluntly... SO WHAT? Don't go to his church; mind your own business. Go home and re-read the First Amendment. Indeed, I think the Church members ought to do a little study of the First Amendment, and the Black Robed Regiment of the Revolution. This is not to advocate ANY unbiblical behavior. You can win people over by kindness and patience and love, but ALWAYS standing on the Truth.

There are the thousands of surviving relatives of Christians who have been tortured and killed and/or forced to flee Iraq and Syria who might beg to differ with the civil rights group

Anyone who cannot and will not follow the laws, morals and culture of the US is indeed a threat. Sharia muslims fall into this category.

"St. Paul-Minneapolis Archbishop Bernard Hebda said all who believe in God must work together to banish every form of discrimination and intolerance."
"Red" Hebda runs a gang of leftist pro-DACA ministers who travel to
the local parishes here to try to bolster illegal immigration..
had hopes for him.. THIS cements his legacy

My then new pastor was upset when I suggested praying for the conversion of
muslims. He later put multiculturalism in the bulletin as a parish standard. Democrat!

read history and even current events, of course Muslims are a threat. They are a threat to other Muslims not of their branch and to those of us not Muslims. To deny this is both ignorant and foolish. If red headed left handed white men were conspicuously murdering anyone not red headed and left handed, you would consider any body with red hair and that was left handed a potential danger and threat until they were proven to not be.

You cant hit a man for telling the truth. Ok, maybe you can. If you go to the middle east for a while you will find a great many very nice people like you will find anywhere. The difference is they are living in an absolutely evil society based on an evil religion. We don't need to be importing that.

Well, then I'll step in for the pastor: Muslims ARE a threat. Islam is incompatible with Western Civilization.

Christians are not called to work together to banish every form of discrimination and intolerance. They are to discriminate between good and evil, and not tolerate sinful behavior. God certainly practices discrimination. The Lord will come and separate the sheep from the goats. Christians preach the Good News of the Kingdom of Heaven, and converts willingly ask for forgiveness of their sins. Any so-called religion that practices forced conversion, slavery, rape and murder is certainly not of God.
