Tens of thousands of people converged in the streets of Richmond, Virginia, on Monday to protest their right to bear arms in the face of swingeing state gun control laws set to be enacted later this year.
They started arriving before dawn – army veterans, stay-at-home-moms, attorneys, welders, democrats, republicans – united under banners defending the second amendment and, they believe, a constitution under attack.
And many of them came with their guns: AR-15s, long-guns and handguns. Governor Ralph Northam had issued a ban on a list of weapons including guns on Capitol Grounds

Gov Ralph Northam likes citizens who are unarmed and helpless because they are easier for the government to control. That includes helpless babies in the womb whom he thinks it alright to kill. He is such a brave man.................

"Tens of thousands" - Love the pictures!! They are making me cry. No arrests, no incidents as far as I've heard at the moment.
It looks to me as if Governor Blackface has been put on notice. I think this rally shows him to have failed bigly. These citizens are serious, and they will not hand over their firearms.

IIRC extreme gun control measures has been an electoral loser for democrats. So why is this happening in VA right now? Are the dems that far around the bend and out of touch? Are the voters changing and coming 'round to more gun control? Or maybe the VA dems think they can actually change public opinion in their favor? Or is this another sign of the democrat party fracturing? Their most admirable strength over the years has been to stay on message and enforce this up and down the ranks. Do the national dems want this issue being played out so vividly in a presidential election year? Seems like this hands the issue to Trump in flyover country.

LOVED all of those orange VCDL stickers.... Folks in the UK gotta love pics showing 250 years on memory of King Geo3 still lives on in the former colonies. I haven't heard if the new democrat black-face Governor, nor the accused-rapist democrat Lt Governor have put up any legisilation to change the VA flag motto from 'Death to Tyrants' to something more politcally correct....

The foreign Daily Mail seemed to concentrate on pictures of a few men who had masks and guns. However another 10,000 gun owners to be seriously interested in their Constitutional Rights. I doubt that the pictures of the men with masks (and guns) were actually a part of the protest.

Let me rephrase that.....their headline is intended to inflame antigun sentiment with that bullet proof vest stuff.
But, the many photos were good, and overall, a far better job than what I have seen in the American media, the lazy leftist pukes that they are.
I LOVE the guy toting the Barrett 50 cal. A semiauto in .50 BMG caliber, now THAT is a serious weapon, but what a pain to haul around. It weighs 31 lbs unloaded! Cartridges are about a quarter pound each.

#10, I loved that guy with the M82 also - his response to the question from the appalled Brit reporter to why he brought such a large weapon was priceless - 'Because I can!' (That, plus if you've spent at LEAST $8000.00 for that gun, you don't want to leave it at home!)

#14, I was wondering what the average Brit thinks about this. I wonder if they are envious of our rights to be armed, or if it is running down their leg out of fear of "some crazy Yank with one of those bloody huge guns"?
Probably some of each.
I'd love comments from any Brits on the site.

I wonder if any of the Dem antigun tyrants have ever actually LOOKED at the Virginia state flag?
I attended grade school in Va up to 6th, and studied Virginia History (which it turns out, was a HECK of a lot of US history, since a whole lot of it happened in Va), and happen to know that flag well. I have had family living in Virgnia from the middle 50s (me and family) up until the last one died or moved in the last decade. Suffice it to say I know Virginia very well, lived there a lot, still own a good bit of land there.
On the flag is Virtus (depicted as a warrior woman) standing over a fallen tyrant, crown off of his head, chains broken. The motto is "Sic Semper Tyrannis" which is "Thus Always to Tyrants". And Virtus is defined as: One who possesses valor, excellence, character, worth, and courage. VIrtus represents the people of Virginia, and they showed up today to remind the tyrants.
And yet, these tyrants would run over The People. I really wonder if they have any idea what they are in for? Probably clueless. Best wishes to the real Virginians.

The guy who wrote the cut lines should learn the difference between a tactical vest and an armored vest, and a tank and an armored car. We saw no bullet proof vest and no armored tank. Idiots.

What this clearly shows is that it is not law abiding gun owners that cause the violence, it is the leftist like Antifa that cause it. What this also shows me is that when we are armed, Antifa and other Leftists don't not act up -- probably out of fear of armed citizens standing up to them.

Pathetic British, Irish and other assorted subjects of the world love to mouth off behind their keyboards. Armed citizens are not only a mystery to them, but terrifying. The idea that someone would defend their life, their family, their community to the death, never enters their rabbit mind.
A few years ago I emailed a British writer about an article he wrote that was wrong in several important statements. He replied, 'I know, but it was too good a story to pass up.' They make up feces over things like look at the protesters in masks who won't tell us their full name. Meanwhile it was so cold two of the cops had face masks on. To a limey every tactical vest is a 'bulletproof' vest and .50 cal rifles can be 'bought on the internet.' The LYING, LAZY, English reporter refused to ask what that New York citizen had to do in order to buy and transport the rifle 'that is used by the IRA' to bring down planes. In NY state permit holders, and I'm guessing anyone spending that kind of money for that rifle is also a concealed carry permit holder, have a LOWER crime rate than NY police. NY permit holders committing crimes is statically speaking, zero.
Punks in Europe begged the USA to send weapons when the Hun went on the march. Then they begged us to shed blood for them. Their comments about armed Americans ought to be tempered by a BIG dose of THANK you for saving their lives, their countries and whatever culture they have left.

#28, you CAN buy a Barrett M82A1 semi-automatic .50 cal. rifle on the internet. There are quite a few for sale on GunBroker right now. BUT - that rifle, like any other gun bought on the internet, can only be shipped to a licensed gun dealer and you WILL pass the background check before the rifle will be handed over to you.

#30 I know that, as anyone who shops for firearms knows, BUT that wasn't the intent of the quote, that isn't the common perception of the quote. Gun haters and TV educated dopes think it is the same as a 1950s experience of buying a rifle from Sears using mail order. It is NOT like that and anyone who bothers to do about 10 seconds of internet searching will find out. ANYONE can NOT buy a firearm over the internet. They can try, but unless they qualify the background check from an authorized FFL dealer, they will fail and end up on a list of people who tried and failed.

Sic semper tyrannis The pictures were good but missed the variety of people attending. Whoever was there were pretty brave as I am sure the State & the FBI & the crooked ATF have them in their files now. A few did have masks - likely to protect themselves from the spies & the cold - and it was darn cold - 25 degrees F. I guess the FBI caught some neo-Nazis afterwards. And the Mail did note that that big ole' M82 had been used by IRA terrorists to snipe during never ending Troubles.
