Earth's magnetic north pole, which has been wandering faster than expected in recent years, has now crossed the prime meridian.
Magnetic north has been lurching away from its previous home in the Canadian Arctic toward Siberia at a rate of about 34 miles (55 kilometers) a year over the past two decades. The latest model of the Earth's magnetic field, released Dec. 10 by the National Centers for Environmental Information and the British Geological Survey, predicts that this movement will continue, though likely at a slower rate of 25 miles (40 km) each year.
This model is used to calibrate GPS and other navigation measurements.

Shhh... nobody tell AOC.. she'll want to tax everyone to make the magnetic poles correct again.. because only a TAX on something; can fix something. I'm sure i read that on the internet.

Critical question for liberal loons: How can we blame this on President Trump?

Due to global waming, er, climate change, er, climate disruption.
Whatever, i'm sure somehow it's OUR fault.

No doubt that this is caused by too many SUVs, cow farts and burning coal in power plants.

We are passengers on this large oblate spheroid "train". It doesn't much care or respond to
anything we do, think or say, EVEN Greta, the obnoxious robot girl, and Sandy, the tip-stealing barmaid. We need to just stay out of the way and try not to get squashed or shredded by one of the periodic "big events" which just happen.

How does this affect the weather? A serious question. Curiosity would like to know.

I am waiting with great trepidation to hear what dire prognostications the (un)Holy Maid of Sweden will make concerning this. I am sure we are all doomed. /s

I'm surprised that our current crop of "world leaders" haven't figured out a way to monetize it yet.

Shhhh! Don't tell Congressman Hank Johnson! he'll think there are too many people weighing down the north pole, tilting us toward Siberia, then the planet will tip, and we'll begin to roll and tumble toward that frigid Siberian wasteland, maybe all the way onto Russia, maybe all the way to Ukraine..

That's okay. We can just build a windmill there and blow it back into place.

One of the commenters in this article, as his last paragraph said "We can do this. But the existing power structure and greedy money influence has to stop. We will in-fight our way to oblivion if the Sociopath 1% don't start taking bold action. The people are figuring things out, and the current prolonged economic stagnation period should be all the indication necessary that change is coming. Hoowah"
I think he should have ended it with "Hogwash"

I was going to try to write some witty remark that:
-We're all going to DIE!
-It's Trump's fault.
-It's OUR (USA's) fault for driving SUV's,
-Western Christian civilization, especially the USA, is EVIL, has caused this, and must be destroyed.
-The solution involves working Americans to pay confiscatory taxes and giving up our freedoms, Especially giving up our guns.
But...... it looks like you L-Dotters before me pretty much covered all the bases.

So the experts were wrong with their prediction on the rate of migration so far, but now we are supposed to believe them when they say it will slow down because...this time, they are right? Hmm, what else have experts predicted that haven't turned out the way they thought?

#7, seriously, probably not much will be felt or seen in effects if the poles reverse. Compasses will need to be reset or read backwards.
IMO, the biggest issue may be migratory birds, some of which have been shown to have small magnetic sensors in their brains which seem to act as compases, but likely in conjunction with visual and smell information to guide them on their journeys. It may be the magnetic signals will be easily corrected (recalibrated) in their brains by the visual (sun direction primarily) and other things, and not much of
a real problem. But, we are fairly ignorant on migratory bird's full repertoir of navigation skills so hard
to really know.
Probably won't affect people a whole lot, directly. When was the last time most people used a magnetic
compass? Pilots and hikers do more than most, although GPS has been over running that lately.

Why does this matter? Because many aircraft navigation charts are set up for Magnetic North and even though the best navigation equipment calculates True North, conversions to legacy Magnetic are still done and used. This is accomplished using sophisticated calculations and look up tables, which were updated once every 10 years, then 5 years, then ??
What I want to know is when will Al Gore claim this to be another effect of Global Warming?
