I went back home to Ohio's
Trump country. In Appalachia,
honest people have hope again.

GALLIPOLIS, Ohio – I've been a journalist for 21 years. I've never struggled to write something as much as I have this column.
The assignment: Go back to the place where I grew up, here in the middle of Ohio's Appalachian region across the river from West Virginia, talk to family and friends and my hometown people and offer a perspective on the heart of Trump country that few others in the media can.
Trump won 76% of the vote in Gallia County three years ago, his largest margin among Southeast Ohio counties. His sweeping success across Ohio's Appalachian region — he won 30 of the state's 32 such counties

In reporting about Trump success in a small, poor county, this obviously liberal writer drips condescension. He manages to make all the east/west coast lib points. Ugly.
He does note he doesn't see any Trump signs but hears plenty of positive support for Trump and dislike of the media. No one wants to be a target of the Trump bashers.

When you go into a situation with a bias, it is very difficult to set it aside to do your job. That is the reason many ignore the media. They know they cannot be trusted. Truth be told, the people the author talked to also recognize a lib when they see one and know they won’t get a fair shake and will be looked down upon. I live in the southwest of Ohio and can tell you the majority of people here like this President and what he is doing. My small town and the ones surrounding are red, and have been for decades and most here certainly believe that the left has lost its mind. The democrats are losing reasonable, common sense Americans. Impeachment and voter fraud is the only strategy they have for winning. Now more than ever, Trump 2020!

FTA ""I don't want to talk about it because you can't have an opinion unless it's their opinion," an African American Trump supporter said about the left. "Either you believe the way they believe, or you're a racist or a homophobe. The reason I'm working is because of what Trump's done. I just want to put my hard hat on and go to work every day.""
And THAT is why President Trump will win again.... unless the Democrats stage a coup and civil war errupts.

Williams is someone who regularly writes about whacked-out race-baiting lefties as if they were serious rational individuals so it takes some doing for him to admit some home truths.

Despite William's attempt to distract, folks in Ohio appear to be as tired as the rest of us of the left's "my way or the highway" schtick. I really don't think anyone will vote corrupt dim next year in Ohio or anywhere to simply fit in at the office. That's like selling your soul to the devil.
Over here in Colorado, folks on the west slope where wife and I live aren't shy at all about telling libs in the Denver deep state to shove it as evidenced by large banners and flags along I-70 west of Vail all the way out to Grand Junction. Just one small problem here - the Denver Deep State is the most corrupt and evil group of politicians that I have ever seen that needs to be dismantled. None the less, If the left doesn't like how I think or speak politically or how I carry (my Smith & Wesson 380 Bodyguard, that is), tough tacos, lefties.

My hometown is quite Trump supporting (with the exception of the college students) but I don't see many signs. The support IS there, but we are quiet about it.

A couple of comments here. 1. It is a little early in the process for signs and bumper stickers. 2. I live in rural Ohio Appalachian foothills. You do not have to worry about talking politics here. However, the people I see do not wear their politics on their sleeves. They keep it to themselves.
I typically do not put out signs in my yard. It is a waste of time and money. They always disappear overnight. A bumper sticker on your car is a good way to get your car vandalized. This is more prevalent in an urban setting where we lived 6 years ago. But, there are still a few of them out here. You know who I am talking about.
My point is that the support for Trump is strong here even though it does not show with yard signs. Just an observation, on a local county road there is a Trump Pence sign in front of a house that has been there for the last three years. It is 20 feet up on a telephone pole. That's how you keep it from disappearing!

I don't have Trump signs and stickers up yet because it's way too early in the election season just as I refuse to pay attention to Christmas preparations until December. However, this section of Pennsylvania is solid Trump and there isn't a person here who will attempt to promote a democrat. Our junior republican, Pat Toomey, turned against his constituents on gun control and that stupid move is going to cost him his job. With all of the problems that his home of Allentown has, the nut felt he had to focus on gun control. We no longer take prisoners, he's gone.

Not once did the scribbler write 'President' Trump. Not once. Then I saw the political cartoons at the end of the article and I knew why, another leftist rag.

A Democrat would have to win over at least some of the people in areas like this to prevail. Doesn't look likely. These people just want to go about their daily lives, and not overthrow everything Americans have long held dear.

The people of Gallia County have the wisdom of honest people that respect honesty. They judge a person by what he DOES. Too many politicians make all kinds of promises, but never deliver. The current batch of Democrats in Congress have spent their their time the last three years trying to overthrow President Trump. They have done nothing for the people of this country. Just think how much President Trump could have accomplished if he had not been obstructed every inch of the way. Even with the obstruction, he has accomplished more good than any other President in recent memory.
Jason Williams could learn a lot from the people of Gallia County.

What jumped out at me was " poverty-stricken area". Like the homeless living on the streets of SF or LA? Were there hundreds of homeless sleeping on the streets in the area? If not can't be as bad as a Democrat run city.

The quote at #3 jumped out at me as well. That man expressed his thoughts well and then ended the conversation and went into his house. He probably had Jason pegged.
I think if this article had been written by someone like Salena Zito it would have been more worthwhile; she would not have approached the people in that community with such dripping elitism and bias.

These good people were badly burned by Obama's Hopey Changey brand of politics just like their neighbors across the river in West Virginia. They won't be voting democrat again for a long time. They may not like to be interviewed or answer polls but you can bet they will be supporting Donald Trump. No need to send big city reporters out to dig up the "truth." Especially reporters who obviously forgot where they came from.

Yes, Jason. You carry on while "the impeachment process continues." Of course, you mean, "the impeachment process that isn't impeachment at all, but a sham show to give the media something to lead with every night until the 2020 election." You people are so tedious. So trite. So predictable...

Williams puts his faith in impeachment (beginning and end of the column). He seems to think impeachment will do in the president.
I think his delusion is shared with the Democrats, and it helps explain why the candidates are unconcerned with pulling the Party too far left for the general electorate. They figure what they really (and only) have to do is win over the Democratic leftists and snag the nomination. The general will be handled by impeaching the President.

21 years of hate, lies and nonsense from this jerk. So stupid he doesn't realize how he paints hims as a loon when he describes his 'struggle' to report the truth. What a craven, want to be elitist, liar. Like so many in the media he thinks he is actually not just smart, but so much better than the people he uses to make up his slanted stories. I find him and those like him disgusting. Sure would like to meet him face to face someday.

He really didn't want to report anything good about Trump.
He is a perfect example of why they don't want to talk about it. The Trump Haters are vicious.

Best line in the article? "I don't want to talk about it because you can't have an opinion unless it's their opinion," an African American Trump supporter said about the left. "Either you believe the way they believe, or you're a racist or a homophobe." That is the absolute truth.
