The White House announced late Sunday that Turkey will soon move forward with a planned military operation in northeast Syria, as U.S. troops who have been deployed and operating with Kurdish-led forces in the area began pulling back from their positions. The decision sent shockwaves through the region and Washington, with U.S. officials telling Fox News that top Pentagon officials were “completely blindsided” and “shocked” by the order to pull back hundreds of U.S. troops, a move that effectively green-lights the Turkey operation.

Our job was to help get rid of ISIS. No need for "nation building." That part of the world will always be a bottomless pit of tribal warfare and religious strife. Islam is a religion that was created by a lewd, immoral pedophile to justify his unnatural proclivities. Men are corrupted by making sin the problem of women and children, blaming and punishing them for tempting the immoral men. If that doesn't work, that convert or die thing, coupled with you leave, you die, keeps a steady supply of Muslims coming into the fold.

Maybe if the people who work at the Pentagon paid more attention to what their President has been saying for three years about endless wars they would not have been caught off guard.

Let's not forget the Pentagon is filled with Trump haters, ergo "blindsided". POTUS is right. Let the Turks and Kurds finish the battle. Our guys and gals have had enough.

Oh poop! They are not shocked. The pentagon is too big for it's worth. They represent the war machines and men. But they knew...cause it has all been discussed before. Frankly, it is time for the Kurds to take over if possible. Fox is adding emphasis. Nothing is done in the govt that is shocking.
If they all get too carried away (as has been the practice for about 1500 yrs with muslims) we will end it quickly....without a bunch of boots on the ground. That is the best way....like we did in the beginning after 9/11, but then got talked into the long war.
Shocked? BS! Trump has been saying for a long time.

Let them fight it out. Let's see those in the US from those countries go home and fight for their countries too.

Even the micro-managing Lyndon Johnson did not blindside his generals with ubattlefield decisions. A few months ago the President told an audience of Navy officers and enlisted aboard a cruiser that on the basis of what he learned that morning from a guide aboard an aircraft carrier he was going to order the Navy to cancel all retrofit orders for carrier launched-aircraft systems. No discussion with DOD needed. It is such regular impulsiveness that is at the root of 90% of his political problems. And if because of it we end up with a socialist president, God help us all.

The President is the Commander in Chief of the US Armed Forces and is the ultimate decider on where those forces are deployed. Just because a few unidentified janitors on the third floor of the Pentagon were not aware of a Presidential decision involving removing US troops from Northern Syria does not mean much.

Doing the same thing with the same result is not a smart strategy. We have spilt enough blood and treasure in the Middle East and what has it benefited the United States? They say we are safer but I seriously doubt the Deep State’s commitment to our safety if they are more than willing to bring the thousands of young men here. And for what reason? There is no good reason to bring these tribal warring throngs into this country especially since they see this country as the Great Satan. We are their enemy and the insane policies that BHO put into place just gives them access. The Deep State and Rinos would have us there indefinitely fighting not to win but to manage. That is not good enough for most Americans. We are sick of sending our finest to be killed and maimed for the pleasure and profit of the warring class in this country. Enough!

I say we bring all our troops home, put them on the border, and nuke the whole arab world, just to be sure. (just kidding! I can dream can't I? When anyone asks, and I say "I am for world peace" I just can't think of any other way to do it)
I doubt very much that the Joint Chiefs or those in charge of operations were blindsided. A whole bunch of Perfumed Princes, who were infiltrated in to leadership positions by clinton and obama, might have been.

Our not-so-Grand Strategists in the Pentagon are tied to a federal jobs program for contractors and support agencies. Sorry guys, I could care less about your cushy retirement jobs.

Number 8 it seems like it had something to do with replacing the steam catapaults with magnetic catapaults...and there was some question if they would continue to work in case of an EMP....

The electric cats have pretty much proven to "not be ready for prime time" so to speak.
Steam cats work perfectly, and this iteration of electric cats are not working, and preventing the ship from becoming fully operational, apparently. IMO, if they cannot sort these cats out in some reasonable period (probably the REASONABLE period has already passed) they need to rip them out and put in steam cats.
A carrier without reliable catapults is useless.

This is the way it's supposed to be. Every military action doesn't have to turn into a 25 year commitment. Remember when the media tried to scare us into thinking Trump was going to get us into World War 3, 4 & 5? Now they are trying to scare is that he won't.

Looks like time for a showdown between the Kurds and Turks. As President Trump noted, "The Kurds fought with us, but were paid massive amounts of money and equipment to do so. They have been fighting Turkey for decades. I held off this fight for ... almost 3 years..." What's NATO to do? Meanwhile, anonymous "U.S. officials (told) Fox News that top Pentagon officials were 'completely blindsided.'" Somehow, I doubt that.
