Having had stents (four of them) and knowing the gentleman who invented the first cardiac stent, you can be up and back to work in a few days in many cases. It's not like open heart surgery which laid you up for weeks. Of course, if I listened to my cardiologist (and my wife and brother-in-law doctor) and excercised, ate better, and lost some weight, I'd be better. But then again, I had a friend who gave up drinking, smoking, fattening foods, fast cars, and fast women. He lived an exceedingly healthy life until he committed suicide from the boredom.

#27, I had a broken wrist in a small city in Siberia, slipped on their ice. The clinic looked like the photos of the Ellis Island clinics you have seen from the 1920s. The literal hunchback operator of the 1950s vintage X-ray machine did a good job with her antique equipment, and the nurse who put on the cast did a fine job. But I am quite glad it was nothing invasive and that I was out of there in an hour or so. A minor break, not displaced significantly, didn't need much care, in the end. In another case, the Russian doc in Moscow completely misdiagnosed a rash on my neck, and two days later, my own doc glanced at it from the doorway of the exam room, exclaiming, "OK, a classic case of shingles, I see." A quick dose of antiviral stopped it, and vaccinations have kept it away. But the docs in Russia....I am not too impressed, some may be OK like the one who worked on my wrist. But the younger one who saw my rash....clueless, entirely.

A charity event planned in honor of an officer killed in a 2018 mass shooting at a country music bar in in Southern California has been postponed indefinitely -- reportedly because a police chief didn't want Republicans invited. The Blue Bowl, a charity flag football game, was intended to raise money for the family of fallen Ventura County Sgt. Helus died last Nov. 7, when a 28-year-old suspect allegedly attacked the Borderline Bar and Grill in Thousand Oaks, killing a total of 13 people and wounding about a dozen others.

Leftist conspiracy-monger Adam Schiff was aware of select details of the Ukraine-Biden allegations against President Donald Trump before a lying CIA snitch reportedly involved in the case filed a complaint under a whistleblower law, according to the intermittently reliable New York Times. It has been widely reported that the CIA official’s complaint was based on a July 25 telephone conversation between Trump and Ukrainian President Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the said stoolie somehow learned about. Rep. Schiff is the California Democrat, now the laughably unqualified chairman of the House

Former Dallas police officer Amber Guyger was sentenced on Wednesday to serve 10 years in prison for the fatal 2018 killing of an innocent man she shot when she mistakenly entered his apartment believing it was her own. But in a remarkable act of kindness, the brother of the victim took the witness stand and spoke directly to Guyger, saying, "I love you like anyone else," and later hugged her in the courtroom before she was led off to prison. The Dallas County jury reached a unanimous decision on the sentence just before 4 p.m. Central Standard Time, after deliberating for a little over an hour.

You have to not only be substantively neutral, you have to appear to be neutral when you’re the attorney general of the United States. It's been more than 2 years since the Belmont Club article predicting a political showdown after the election of Donald Trump was written. Since then its scenario of top rival American politicians trying to jail each other has become an actual possibility. 'Shouldn't Biden be investigated over Ukraine if Trump can be impeached over it?' Hillary's in the mix too. It turns out, as Rush Limbaugh noted in a recent broadcast, that the “whistleblower” is a CIA person detailed to the White House. Likely a holdover from Obama, he is John Brennan’s man. When Obama left office, he left in place a mechanism designed to lead to Trump’s impeachment: The revelations of the intel community about Russian collusion with the incoming president. Now that those are debunked by the very prosecutor hired to prove them, this same crowd, these same folks, have shifted their emphasis to the Ukraine scandal. CLEARWATER — For an elected body, the Downtown Development Board’s power goes only so far. It does not have authority to pass city ordinances or hire and fire staff. Its influence lies in helping shape how the world sees downtown. Its $267,000 operating budget, funded through a special tax on downtown property owners, is spent on items like festivals and holiday lighting. But this modest, volunteer board could make history next month with what might be the first elected body comprised of a majority of members of the Church of Scientology, downtown’s largest property owner. It was also my dream place, an indelible part of my youth, a poem of steel and limestone majesty, of high-end shops, hotels, theaters, and nightclubs, of dandies and high-class women,

Pig-ignorant, arrogant, jingoistic, contemptuous of foreigners, loud-mouthed, badly dressed and irredeemably bumptious. So consuming is the European antipathy toward Donald Trump — he’s never read a book! First, it is likely that President Donald Trump violated some cockamamie administrative rule when he recently spoke with the new Ukrainian president about the potential corrupt dealings of former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, in Ukraine. Fine. Can’t Trump just pay a fine or something? Yes, he should’ve been more careful (and he needs to tell Rudy Giuliani to calm down, as the former mayor risks perjuring himself before not one, but three Congressional committees). What Trump did was the equivalent of going 15 mph over the speed limit in rural Georgia: it happens. Rarely does anyone notice. Ignorance is still not a viable legal defense.
