Tiffiney Zinger said it was painful telling her daughter she couldn't use a family vacation photo for her second grade class project – the image was marred by what appeared to be a symbol of hate. The photo shows the 6-year-old girl, who is biracial and has autism, posing with an actor dressed as the movie character Gru from "Despicable Me" during a Universal Orlando breakfast event attended by the Zinger family in March. The character formed an upside-down "OK" symbol with his fingers, recognized by some as a hate symbol, on the girl's shoulder, according to a photo and video reviewed by USA TODAY. So now the Okay sign has been universally banned because some few idiots used it. I guess scuba divers will have to give up their underwater hand indication that they are 'alright'. The rainbow has been stolen by homosexual perverts as has the word 'gay' itself. And God-forbid that I wear blackface or wear an Indian costume in some apparent crime called 'cultural appropriation'. When will this end?

I dunno - but this "It can cause emotional stress on my child and her development." feels like it was written by an attorney. How in the world will a little girl feel emotional stress by all of this, except that which her parents initiate through publicity. I'm waiting for someone to name the "thumbs up" gesture as objectionable for one focus group or another. Time's gonna come where I just have to keep my hands in my pockets for fear of offending someone. I can think of a couple of gestures I find offensive, not to mention lots of offensive words now heard regularly on television - but I doubt I could muster up any support or legal backing for my sensitivities...

In many countries the "OK" hand symbol means something entirely different than what we in the States know it to mean. For instance, in France it can indicate whether you think someone is no good or worthless. In Brazil and Venezuela it represents a butt-hole and is therefore an insult. In Turkey I believe that it is considered a gay slur. Funny that no one cared a whit about any of these other interpretations until some made-up attribution to white power groups and along with that, Trump supporters....because we all know that anyone who supports Trump is a racist, right? These SJW are incredibly ridiculous. What a bunch of ill-informed babies looking for something, anything in fact, that they can be victims over. When they can't find anything they just make something up! Ugh.

I once lived in an area where there was a state school for the deaf, and used a laundromat frequented by some deaf clients. And I took #2 son with me to do our laundry. Son is affable, began interacting with deaf young people, learned a small amount of sign language. And he was amused by the fact that there was a sign for 'azzhole.' (that is, a person, not an anus.) The sign? Making the OK hand formation, but slapping the circular thumb and forefinger against one's own forehead.) And I was impressed that American Sign Language would contain slang.

Oops. Second post apology. I went back to the photo, and speculate that the person in costume would do what he did to avoid gripping the child's shoulder, an act which might have scared the child, as it would be intrusive. (The equivalent of a non romantic man hug.) I also have to wonder how low USA Today will go to offer a fake news story. Finally, I wonder about the motivation of the parents, who would take an autistic child into a fantasy setting and then fret about it. I offer one more thing. Back in the hippie days of the late 1960s, they started a rumor that if one dried banana peels, one could smoke the peels to get high. Some state legislatures debated bills to make that illegal. It was a hoax!

Well, I guess the only good thing about this is it makes it more acceptable to use the middle finger on these folks. If I do use the "OK" sign and get called on it by a snowflake, my refrain will be "I'm from Brazil, I was not being a racist, I was just calling you an a-hole".

I've wondered, ever since hearing about it, how the "ok" sign became racist. (Apparently when the forefinger and thumb close the circle, the other three fingers form a "W" - meaning, doncha know, "white power"... or something. Even if white extremists do this, average people know nothing about it, and you'd have to work to extend the other fingers, and then face the "ok" sign obliquely so that those three fingers are "thrown" toward the camera, or person. This is craziness). It's the lunacy of the times. The Left is making mundane things "racist" so that everyday actions and activities catch good people doing "bad" (according to the Left's new scape of bad) things. It's like creating landmines, hiding them, then blaming people for hopping when they step on one and blow their leg off. The scheme needs to be exposed.

BTW... In American History, the OK sign stands for 'Oll Korrect' (a joke/wry comment) or Old Kinderhook a.k.a. Martin Van Buren, our 8th president. I couldn't care a bit about what it means to the Brazilians or Tibetans. The Germans marketed a carbonated beverage called "Pschitt".... and they did so without asking our permission. We've used OK for 200 years; you don't get to steal our history.

My first thought was "You have to be kidding me!" BUT then I ACTUALLY watched the video. It was obviously intentional. No doubt. Pretty nasty thing to do that to innocent kids. I would be angry if a "character" covertly made a gesture that supported pedophilia, transgenderism, or homosexuality at a photo op with my kid and ruined family photos and memories.

More than 20 years ago, when President Bill Clinton was being impeached for lying to a grand jury – then as now a documented fact that no one can credibly dispute – some Democrats who today want to impeach and have the Senate remove President Donald Trump from office ASAP, were whistling a very different tune. Back then they strongly argued: There was no bipartisan consensus. An impeachment would be traumatic for the country and distract Congress from solving major domestic and foreign policy problems. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi: “We are here today because the Republicans in the House are paralyzed with hatred of President Clinton.

HAVANA — In Cuba after the collapse of the Soviet Union — and the end of its generous subsidies — fuel was so scarce that many people stopped driving and the government imported thousands of Chinese bicycles. The crisis trickled down to nearly every aspect of life, bringing blackouts, food shortages, even a vitamin deficiency thought to be the cause of a mysterious neurological condition that struck more than 50,000 people. Known as the Special Period, that era of hardship and severe rationing began in 1991. It finally came to a close at the end of the decade, in large part because oil-rich Venezuela and its leftist leadership

Republicans thinking about supporting the impeachment of President Donald Trump should consider this: If Trump is removed from office before the November 2020 elections, it would virtually guarantee that the next president will be Sen. Elizabeth Warren, with enough power in Congress to carry out much of her radical agenda. In the week since House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced the start of an impeachment inquiry, the biggest loser in the polls has been Joe Biden. Support for Biden among Democrats dropped from 30.3% in the Real Clear Politics average to 27.2%. Warren’s numbers have climbed from 19.2% to 23%.

The nine-page complaint regarding President Trump’s July phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky from a, so far, anonymous CIA “whistleblower” is like something from Hollywood’s favorite conspiracy-peddling director. It was by Times staffers Robin Pogrebin and Kate Kelly, authors of the forthcoming book "The Education of Brett Kavanaugh: An Investigation," from which this essay was adapted. The first 10 paragraphs were devoted mostly to Deborah Ramirez, who went to Yale when Kavanaugh was a student there, and also to Christine Blasey Ford,

“When it comes time to hang the capitalists, they will vie with each other for the rope contract.” Attributed to Vladimir Lenin. Lenin may or may not have said exactly that (there’s a more boring version in his writings). But the prediction was a little off anyway. We capitalists aren’t selling the rope. We’re buying it — literally — only from the Communist Chinese. For the record, according to the United Nations, China exported $237 million in rope-type products 2017. The U.S. imported $91 million of those goods. American rope output imported by China: $1.09 million. Our mutual trade posture writ small.

But if that’s so, he’s failing miserably at all those things they accuse him of. A spate of recent data and reports, including an update of the income and poverty statistics by the U.S. Census Bureau for 2017 and 2018, show just how bad that failure is. Take that “racist” charge. The Census report shows that black unemployment, at 5.5% in August, is the lowest it’s been since records started being kept in 1972.
