Ruling Class vs. ‘The Others’

Original Article

There has always been a troubling trend on the Left, and among statists and the ruling class in general, when it comes to the rule of law. For those types, “rule of law” means more of a series of suggestions intended to keep “the others”—that is, “the deplorables” or we peasants—in our place. It’s very much “a good for me, but not for thee” mentality. Should any of us violate the laws, we can expect to have the book thrown at us. But for them, it’s more a slap on the wrist, if anything at all.

One of the greatest public services President Donald Trump has done for the nation is forcing institutions and people to reveal their true character. While this has been the most valuable when it comes to the media, it has also been valuable when it comes to unmasking globalist Republicans. This was again on display this week, most notably in the revelation that Paul Ryan was inciting Fox News from his position on the board of Fox Corporation to "decisively break" with President Trump.

"I think this statement by DeLauro is very important," Kristol said of a key Pelosi ally calling for the impeachment of Trump. "That signals to me I think where Nancy Pelosi is going."

President Trump on Monday tweeted out a video mocking Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) over his failed 2012 presidential bid, comparing it with Trump's own success four years later. The video includes clips of election night in 2012, when Romney lost to former President Obama, and in 2016, when Trump defeated Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

The education secretary took part in a roundtable discussion at an ordinary Catholic school. The media labeled it an extraordinary scandal. Rod Dreher’s “Law of Merited Impossibility” condenses the rhetorical game played by cultural progressives to first secure, and then enforce, changes in public morality: “It will never happen, but when it does, you bigots will deserve it.” Traditionalists, in Dreher’s telling, are lulled into a truce with social revolutionaries, who mock the dystopian nightmares of social conservatives as things that “will never happen.” But when the “it” happens, the revolutionaries insist that the bigots . . . deserve it.

Republican Utah Sen. Mitt Romney said that if President Trump asked Ukrainian officials to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden, it would be "troubling in the extreme." After reports of a complaint filed by an intelligence community whistleblower, details have surfaced of a conversation in which Trump allegedly urged Ukrainian officials to dig into both Biden and his son, Hunter, for his business dealings there.

If President Trump endorses gun-control legislation, it will take 13 Senate Republican votes to pass the measure, assuming the entire 47-member caucus of Democrats and Independents backs it. Conservatives such as Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) say any proposal that goes as far as the 2013 amendment sponsored by Sens. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) will face a backlash from the right, meaning 60 votes will be necessary to break a filibuster

The other day I came across a picture of Joseph Bambera as a seminarian (below). About Bambera, the bishop of Scranton, Pennsylvania, Church insiders whisper that he may succeed the soon-to-retire Archbishop Charles Chaput in Philadelphia. Should that happen, Bambera in all likelihood will become a cardinal, owing to his friendly ties with the circle of gay mafia prelates around Pope Francis. Bambera is famous for repeatedly inviting Fr. James Martin, the leading propagandist for LGBT causes in the Church, to speak in the Scranton diocese.

Early Monday morning, Donald Trump tweeted: “94% Approval Rating in the Republican Party, a record. Thank you!” Where the president got this specific number remains a mystery. Recent polls by YouGov put his GOP approval roughly ten points lower, and Gallup, which has tracked Trump’s popularity since he took office, puts him at 88 percent. But I suppose we shouldn’t be surprised that Trump used his Sharpie to round up his score. He’s deeply invested in being — or at least claiming to be — the most popular Republican president in history.

Do we really have to listen to Walmart’s attempts to lecture us on the morality of our consumer purchases? Has American consumer culture hit the skids that badly? Last week the retail giant actually crossed the Rubicon with Middle America. Walmart announced that it was requesting its customers refrain from openly carrying firearms in its stores. Additionally, the retailer said it plans to stop selling some types of ammunition. Walmart will also end handgun sales in Alaska, the only state where it still sells them. Walmart discontinued the sale of “assault-style” weapons, otherwise known as scary-looking rifles, in 2015.

I never thought I would refer to a Pope as a fool, but it has come to that. If in so doing my fellow Catholics condemn me as somehow blaspheming against the Mother Church or God, so be it. But after reading Francis X. Rocca's article in the September 11 edition of the Wall Street Journal, which has the pontiff saying that it would be "an honor that [conservative Catholic] Americans attack me," for not standing up for traditional Catholic teachings on marriage, sexuality and bioethics, while instead opining on climate change and migration, I can't hold my tongue.

One of the conservative movement’s biggest defeats over the past two decades has been its failure to strip the gears of the climate-change propaganda machine. With few exceptions—among them the Heartland Institute, former Representative Lamar Smith (R-Texas), and a handful of conservative commentators—Republicans surrendered to the climate cabal’s 20-year rampage in our public schools, the news media, and statehouses from coast to coast.

Have you ever sat down in a restaurant and felt instantly drawn to a particular dish on the menu? The reason might be something as simple as that you love the dish’s main ingredient, but it’s often more than that. It could be the item’s placement on the menu, its name, even whom you saw eating it as you crossed the restaurant. Understanding all the factors that attract us to certain foods is a growing area of research, with enormous potential for addressing something unexpected: climate change. Agriculture — and the changes in land-use it necessitates — accounts for about 25% of

This is why God tells the Israelites to give them special care.” Citing the biblical book of Exodus, Francis said that the God
