Williamson made the remarks while answering a question from a college student who wanted to know why she thought that nuclear energy was problematic. "Well I know Germany had said at one point 'we're just going no nuclear,' but then when they said no nuclear there was a problem because they had a hard time keeping up with the other standards they agreed to,"

Donald Trump is waging a nonstop, all-encompassing war against progressive culture, in magnitude analogous to what 19th-century Germans once called a Kulturkampf. As a result, not even former President George W. Bush has incurred the degree of hatred from the left that is now directed at Trump. For most of his time in office, Trump, his family, his friends and his businesses have been investigated, probed, dissected and constantly attacked. In 2016 and early 2017, Barack Obama appointees in the FBI, CIA and Department of Justice tried to subvert the Trump campaign, interfere with his transition and, ultimately, abort his presidency. Now, congressional Democrats promise impeachment before the 2020 election.

Trump and Zelensky, who took office in May, spoke by phone July 25. The Ukrainian government released a read-out of the phone call that said the two leaders spoke about corruption investigations “that have hampered interaction between Ukraine and the USA.”

This week’s Israeli elections proved one thing. Not only is Israel the only democracy in the Middle East, it is also a global democracy on steroids. The election results showed some benefits, but mainly the faults, of a multi-party electoral system. The race started with 31 hopeful parties. At the end of the voting process Israel was left with nine political parties winning seats in the 22nd Knesset. Israel has to change the law by lifting the electoral threshold for allocated seats in a future Knesset from the current low bar of 3.25 percent to 5 percent.

A group of Arizona Democrats are demonstrating why President Donald Trump will more than likely be a two-term president. The party’s liberal wing simply cannot resist the temptation to shoot itself in its Birkenstocks. Witness the liberals riding in on their unicorn, hoping to censure the first Arizona Democrat elected to the U.S. Senate in 30 years. It seems Sen. Kyrsten Sinema is just not Democratic enough. So the party's progressive caucus is asking the Arizona Democratic Party to censure her on Saturday. (Or, if they can't do it then, at their annual meeting in January.) “We really support Kyrsten Sinema, we want her to succeed,

DURHAM, N.C. — He’s been one of academia’s leading authorities on American racial inequity for years, in high demand by Democratic presidential candidates who hope he’ll endorse their proposals to close the “racial wealth gap” — a term that his research helped popularize. But as William “Sandy” Darity shuffles through papers in his second-floor office at Duke University, the gray-haired economist explained that he was hard at work on his own proposal, one that could be the most sweeping of his career — a concrete plan for paying monetary reparations to the descendants of slaves. Darity has enlisted a dozen black academics and activists,
Elizabeth Warren’s war on men

Elizabeth Warren made the political calculation this week that she doesn’t need men to win the presidency. “We’re not here today because of famous arches or famous men,” she told a rally in Washington Square Park Monday night. “In fact, we’re not here because of men at all,” she said, emphasizing the “m” word like an expletive. Great. Then she won’t mind if men don’t vote for her, nor women who like men. It’s a losing strategy, taken straight out of the playbook of Hillary Clinton, from whom, reportedly and inexplicably, Warren has been taking advice. Millions of American women showed in 2016 that they weren’t prepared to vote for Clinton

A crew member who was on the dive boat that caught fire off the Southern California coast earlier this month reportedly sued the boat’s owner and the dive charter company, claiming the boat was not properly maintained and employees lacked proper training. The Pacific Coast Times reported that Ryan Sims, the crew member, claimed he was trapped with other employees when the fire broke out on the boat, called the Conception. He reportedly claimed he was forced to jump from the top deck into the water and broke one of his legs in three places. All six crew members were asleep when the boat caught fire, killing 34 people, federal authorities said.

An upstate New York judge resigned after posting a photo of a noose and President Trump’s ‘Make America Great Again’ slogan on Facebook page, which officials say shows ‘political and racial bias.’ The resignation of former Justice Kyle R. Canning of Altona was publicly announced by the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct on Tuesday. The 29-year-old came under review after posting a photo on his personal Facebook page in early 2018. The offending image showed a noose hanging in front of a black background with the message:

Republicans opposed to President Trump are quietly preparing to support Democratic front-runner Joe Biden, backing that could materialize in the primary as he attempts to fend off a surging Elizabeth Warren. Some Republican operatives active in Never Trump circles are discussing what form support for Biden might take and the timing. Groups such as Stand Up Republic, co-founded by prominent Never Trump Republicans Evan McMullin and Mindy Finn, could target disaffected GOP voters in key micro-battlegrounds with finely tailored advertising in a bid to boost Biden in the Democratic primary. Biden, 76, is the most likely Democrat

The more candidate Joe Biden hits the stump, the more President Donald Trump hopes he prevails. Fresh off the bizarre tale of a young Biden facing down a gang leader named “Corn Pop,” besting the thug’s switchblade with a 6-foot length of chain, the Democratic front-runner spoke about putting American women back to work.To be exact, 720 million women. The problem is, that figure is about 400 million more than the entire population of the United States.Biden, 76, was speaking Tuesday at a Philadelphia Council AFL-CIO conference when he dropped his latest gaffe.

Just days after declaring the United States was “locked and loaded” in response to a suspected Iranian attack on key Saudi Arabian oil facilities, U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday said that he directed the Treasury Department to “substantially increase” sanctions on Iran. That raises several questions: What is left to sanction? How much more could it hurt Iran than losing almost all of its oil exports? And would those new sanctions be a prelude to U.S. military action against Iran or its proxies—or a substitute?

NBC News is asking Americans to confess their climate change sins, though at least some people have taken the opportunity to troll the news company. “Even those who care deeply about the planet’s future can slip up now and then. Tell us: Where do you fall short in preventing climate change?” reads the introduction to NBC’s “Climate Confessions” project. Many of the responses appear to take the project seriously. One person confessed taking flights to see their son across the country. “I fly to see my son on the west coast. I live on the east,” reads the confession.
