A few years ago my husband and I (having left our GPS charger at home) got lost in Montana -- which is a thing not to do. The miles are much longer there and the spaces between towns take hours to cross. We knew we’d gone wrong somewhere because the Rockies, which should have been on our left, were straight ahead, looming ever closer and closer. The first town we came to was a ghost town, which provided a Twilight Zone flavor to the whole adventure. Eventually we found a real town with real people who could tell us where we were –- our map had left us clueless.

The entire premise of the article suggests that these are relatively young folks most likely from the east coast. They are used to population centers being relatively close together so navigational errors can be remedied quickly. They are utterly dependent on modern technology and when that fails them, they have no backup. I was surprised that they noticed the Rockies were in the wrong place relative to the direction they were traveling. People who are so unprepared to travel should not be allowed out of their county.
Maybe it was my time in the Boy Scouts (RIP) and my time as a Boy Scout leader while my three sons were growing up but any one of us could be dropped in the middle of nowhere and would be able to indicate the points of the compass in a few seconds. Then follow the first stream you find and you will soon find people.
Bottom line: never leave your familiar territory without a relatively new PAPER road map(s) of your destination and the route to it. Before you leave spend a few minutes on the internet learning about the route you plan to take. There are parts of Baltimore, Washington DC, Chicongo, and other places where one should not drive thru unless you start with a full tank of gas and travel with the doors locked.

Reading the whole article is worth your time. Beginning with Bill Clinton, our country began to openly discuss the relevance of character and truth. Today truth is just beside the point; the litmus test is "Can I get away with it?" I don't know how we raise children in such an atmosphere. I'm not sure I lay the fault on Darwin and Dewey, as the author does in part, but I have felt in the Twilight Zone for many years now.

“Somewhere along the way humanity lost track of truth.” Excellent and insightful article.

“Without God, there is no virtue because there is no prompting of the conscience... without God, there is a coarsening of the society; without God, democracy will not and cannot long endure.” — Ronald Reagan
(The only correction I would make to his quote is to substitute the word “democracy” for “the republic.”)

Here, here #2. One of best times I had while my son was in scouts was taking a orientation class. It taught lessons on finding one's way that I'll never forget, and has come in handy a couple of times over the years.

So that expression the Left loves so well: "Speaking Truth to Power."
Shall we change it to:
"Speaking relevant truth to Power"? (No caps for the mundane "relevant truth.")

FTA, the last sentence - "Perhaps in a dictatorship it doesn’t matter whether the truth is alive and well, because the people have no say anyway, but in a republic we have to know what’s true and if we don’t, we’ll soon be living in a dictatorship."
This sums up America's current situation. We are losing Truth and God. As Caldwell's piece also points out, these are indivisible. When one is lost, the other becomes lost.
Such is the eight stages in the rise and fall of great civilizations. Sadly, we are in the last and final stage. Can we reverse course and salvage America? Of course we can. But, now would be a really good time.

Welcome to human nature where people reject honesty, truth, and reason. There are consequences. Don't be surprised we are in a Twilight Zone nation with all its corruption, lies, and irrationality.

The left is trying to convince Americans they are to blame for their status in this world. They are to blame for being educated, for getting a job, for saving money and most of for not living in riot torn streets. It is all your fault for not being born in Venezuela, Russia or China. Let that sink in.
Trump had it right. If you are not happy here, leave. That simple. Go someplace that is idyllic. Oh wait a minute - there is no place. Why are so many Californians fed up with Calif and moving to Texas, where, now get this - can make it like California. This is human nature at its best. The deplorables are the people who are trying to make everyone else in their own image.
This is an uncivil war. It is based on stupidity and shallowness. You are accused of being something you are not. If you deny it, then you are obviously too stupid to know it and if you admit it, then you should fix it. The accusor is projecting on to you what they are themselves. But if they can attack you first, you have no defense. This is the heart of Critical Theory - which is straight out of Marxist doctrine. We are all being swept up into the cesspool of Das Kapital - and most don't know it.
It is time to turn the tables. It is time to stop cowering and start fighting back. Trump has shown everyone who knows this is wrong how to have a back bone - give it back to them. The line in the sand has been drawn. There is no middle ground. You are in this fight whether you want to be or not. You either standup for what you believe, or stop complaining about what you are going to be doing and living when the enemy takes over. This 2020 election is a huge chance for American to tell these left wing nuts where to go. If Trump loses, America will become a third rate country in 50 years and will be headed for the ash heap of history. Kiss it good bye. Now or never Gang.

Great article.
When I was scrolling down to end and started to read her short biography, I saw "adjunct professor at ......", I immediately thought "Wow, she's going to lose her job at the university where she is an adjust professor because she is writing about ABSOLUTE TRUTH, and I don't think those words are used very often in our schools today". Then I finished reading the sentence and saw she was an adjunct professor at a Bible College where I know the professors are still allowed to teach that God is the way, the truth and the life.
So she'll still have her job today. It's a hard world for kids to grow up in today.

True, the truth is out there, but the Progressives/Democrats and MSM is doing everything possible to suppress it and bury it under a ton of lies.

While #2 & 6 make good points, it's obvious they did not read the article. Their comments were on the setup quoted by OP, but the setup was just that. (Ergo, their posts are totally irrelevant to the gist of the article.)
Too bad for them, GREAT ARTICLE (in a very sad way.)
