Earlier this year, Gillette embarked on a bold new advertising campaign. For decades, the company had celebrated masculinity, telling us that being a man is good. But what this new campaign presupposes is: Maybe it isn't? [Video] OUT: The Best a Man Can Get
IN: Aren't Men Just the Worst?
It's a bold idea, expressly shaming the very market for your product. As I noted at the time:
Gillette has learned that in [current year], it's not enough for a company to make a product that people want. It's not enough to make them feel inadequate about themselves, and then sell them the supposed cure for that inadequacy. Consumers,

I dumped Gillette too, Went to Harrys and got ingrown hair. Called then and got a refund. Guess I will try Shick. Not going back to Gillette.

Nice to see that they got their lesson in marketing 101.
Let's hope that all the staff responsible for that ad series and the obnoxious "we stand by our ads" statements afterwards are all unemployed.

Schick is fine, never had any problems with them. Gillette is on my lifetime 'don't buy' list.

Gillette know their audience back 65 years ago when they sponsored the weekly "Gillette Cavalcade of Sports", a Friday night boxing lineup that brought all of the men in the neighborhood to the home of the ones who owned black and white television sets to watch a night of boxing. It was a weekend ritual.
But today, they cater to snowflakes, and I was offended with their ad. Now, there is no Gillette product in my home or travel kit. Gave Harry's a try and actually get a closer shave.

The Gillette brand loses $8 BILLION and the SJWs at Grey Advertising who created this steaming pile of stupidity, and the SJWs at Proctor & Gamble who okayed it, STILL can't see that it was a really, really dumb idea. If you can participate in losing that much money and not get fired, your bosses are as ignorant as you.

Gillette Boss 1: "Damn! But this social just warrior crap is expensive! Are you sure this is how to go to make money?"
Gillette Boss 2: "Don't worry kid. It'll turn around. See, all we gotta do is double down in sissifying men. Trust me, the women will love us for it!"
Gillette Boss 1: "Sound's good! But, why do we want women to like us? Don't we sell mostly to men?"
Gillette Boss 2: "Not any more- You know what? You think too much! Now shut up and get going with these new sisifying ads..."

Thanks, Gillette.

Harry's works fine for me and I've copped a few 5 buck credits for referring friends. Probably wouldn't have bothered with them had it not been for Gillette's dabbling in stupidity.

I dropped Gillette completely after that commercial. Now working on eliminating anything from P&G. It's lousy marketing to insult your customers. Are some men louts? Sure, but some women can be nickel-plated (w)itches too.

Dumped Gillette also.
Girlfriend signed me up with Harry's without me knowing; so far so good. I really like the razors but I rarely shave more than twice a week so I'm probably not the best guy to offer a review. I can tell you it's always a nice shave when I get around to it.

In the razor section at the store Gillette is the most expensive that's why I never used them. A bag of Bic throw aways work just fine. I hope Gillette is happy with their success in their ad campaign put on by some snowflake.

I switched to Harry's and love it. Much less expensive, great product, convenient regular shipping. Unfortunately, they have been so good, that Schick is buying them for $1.4 BILLION. We'll see what happens then.

While I am only one consumer, I "dumped" Gillette, avoiding products bearing that name. I hope my little efforts contributed to Gillette's downturn. What an insult Gillette is to its customers!

I had a Gillette for years until this latest BS. I waited until I ran out of blades and then bought a Schick. Better product...feels better in my hand....and my dog likes the results when he licks my face.

If you decide you don't want us as customers by your evil and stupid words and actions, you lose us as customers forever!!! Once you lose us, you never get us back!!!
Gillette is definitely on that list of "never again"!!!

Years ago I bought a double edge razor and blades overseas (not Gillette) that were like the old Gillette razor. The cost much less and work just fine. I do not buy their shaving cream either. Gillette's stuff has been overpriced and over hyped for years.

I will probably never buy blades again. In 2018 I bought a big pack of Gillette and of Schick, both the five blade cartridges. So I can't boycott them.
IMO competitors were catching up to Gillette in quality. And rather than compete on price Gillette decided to milk every $ they could from their fine reputation by raising prices as their market share inevitably declined.
Older men probably would just continue buying Gillette. After all what does a few dollars a year mean to most of them? And Gillette could always create, or acquire, a new brand to compete on price.
e.g. Schick is buying Harry's?
Even so, Gillette blundered this time. But those at the top seldom pay for doing so today.

This LDotter shifted over to Schick and Bic. Gillette has hired a radical feminist to push their products, and she couldn't do it without insulting men. As Butch Cassidy said to Harvey Logan (in the screenplay), unconscious after a kick in the groin, "Good thinking, Harvey!"
