A band has been removed from the Du Quoin State Fair lineup. Confederate Railroad will no longer perform on August 27. The Du Quoin Weekly reports the band was removed because of their name.
Back in June, Rich Miller with Capitol Fax, asked whether or not people thought the band playing at a state-owned facility was appropriate. Fair Manager, Josh Gross, told the newspaper the Illinois Department of Agriculture made the decision saying, "While every artists has a right to expression, we believe this decision is in the best interest of serving all of the people in our state." Confederate Railroad was scheduled to perform with

You will not be allowed to have 'certain' thoughts. We will control that for you. Now sit down and shut up.

One of our best local Alabama bands (I believe they are on YouTube) is called Unreconstructed. They are excellent. Liberal heads would explode.

Haters gotta hate, even when it makes zero sense.
Blacks are so racist, so childishly over wrought about something that ended over 150 years ago.
Something that they READ ABOUT might have happened to a great, great grandfather or something like that.
I'm sorry, I am not impressed. I doubt any person alive even TALKED to someone who had been a slave in the USA. And even if they did, SO WHAT?
A historic thing has no direct bearing on these people, and they are just ACHING for some reason to be
offended, whiney, expect special treatment and to beat on other people - for something that ended over 150 yeas ago.
I am sick and tired of this, and it needs some firm pushback.
Get over it.

The Du Quoin State Fair administrators fall into the special type of stupid category...I guess "God Bless America" is offensive too....oh that's right Kate Smith can't sing it...these mini-tyrants think we deplorables care about their little fascist temper tantrums...well I think I will go put on "Trashy Women" by Confederate Railroad and listen to it for about 10 times

I suspect this decision was made by one person. There are no reports of demonstrations, petitions, or other dissatisfaction. If I was Confederate Railroad, I would lawyer up and sue the pants off the fair manager, and anyone else liable for this discrimination!

I hope this band hires a very good attorney and sues the hell out of them for this. It is breach of contract and loss of income, not to mention defamation, etc.

This can't possibly be real, can it? I'm hoping that late today we'll read this ABC station found this story on The Babylon Bee.

A gay friend of mine was a fan of a local band somewhere in SC called Confederate Queer, which apparently played up the whole concept to a very high and funny level. I wonder if they could substitute.
BTW Confederate Railroad have some hilarious songs.

This is why local and State elections matter just as much as Federal. It is much easier to get rid of local boneheaded liberals. They aren’t cemented to their seats like Congress critters are.

I'm sure they are getting paid so that falls in the easy money category. They also have come to my attention which means I'll probably buy some of their music. And where the hell is Du Quoin?

Breaking news. The band has just officially changed its name to "Pantywaist Snowflake Railroad", and has been re-invited to the DuQuoin State Fair.

Du Quoin sounds like something I get after eating at Taco Bell. Really certain words in our language are being banned by a bunch of pointy headed doofusses.

Remember, this is Illinois, with Gov. JB Prickster, the same folks who just made the state an abortion tourism destination, just doubled gas tax from 19 to 38 cts/gallon and this is a state fair.

Nothing in the article speaks about reimbursement of the band. If the band has a signed contract, reimbursement would depend upon the contractual language. Hopefully the band has a lawyer not named Avennati.

Department of Agriculture? Yea...that helps the farmers! Way to find new ways to waste money in DC!
