Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), who recently promised to “bring a fight to the NRA like they have never ever seen before,” on Monday morning introduced a sweeping gun-violence prevention plan that centers around a national gun-licensing program, the most comprehensive and far-reaching of any candidate in the Democratic presidential field. “My plan to address gun violence is simple—we will make it harder for people who should not have a gun to get one,” Booker said in a statement, pledging to take executive action on the first day of his desired presidency.

....which will be completely ineffective but which is one more step towards confiscation. What we need is politician and reporter licensing....THOSE are two VERY dangerous things that are just running around loose.

Works well in Chicago too. Wonder if Coreyclown will be willing to "build a wall" to keep guns out of the US.

Love to hear people with no clue talk about ´licensing´ guns like a drivers license. You need a license to drive, and you need a license to carry. You do not need a license to drive if you keep your car on your property, and you do not need a license to carry if you keep your gun on your property.

There are somewhere between 350-400 million guns in the hands of private American citizens. Does Cory believe that we will follow a law to register them? Seems like I remember some state in New England trying to do that a few years back and almost no one did.
We are not like the Australians. We will neither register our guns nor turn them in. As the saying goes...Molon Labe!
Even though what I have described above is not on Booker’s agenda yet, we all know that this is where he and the rest of the demonrats are headed.

Booker is a Flaming Idiot. Looks like one and talks like one. Does anyone think that the Bad Guys (think Chicago) will REGISTER their guns? Does anyone think they actually BUY their guns? Jeesh! Get real! NOBODY will register guns they already have because why give the government that information to use when someone decides it´s time to confiscate all guns. The government already has too much information. We have to go through a background check. Some places want to get your info to buy Ammo. Some think you should have to fill out paperwork to give your guns to your son. It´s too much. Most gun owners just give the middle finger to the Cory Bookers of the world and go about their business!

No thank you Cory. I´m quite done with any new ´laws´ concerning firearms. I have complied with them so far. I will not comply with any further intrusions.

The Second Amendment is actually targeted at the States. Admonishing them that their very right to exercise state power over citizens within their borders is at stake if they mess with the natural God given right to self defense. The Amendment does not even mention or address the Federal government because it was well understood that this subject was outside the enumerated powers of the US Government. What part of the Constitution does Spartacus intend to use?

These laws can easily be made so onerous that no one could or would comply, in effect make all gun owners criminals.

Ask yourself this. If every federal and state ´gun law´ were removed tomorrow, what would change? Crime would drop. Other than that, essentially nothing. The normal citizens wouldn´t get suppressed by the state for exercising their prudent right to arm themselves against criminals in some leftard run states. And criminals would still have weapons.
Every one of the ´gun laws´ in this Republic need to be repealed to match what the constitution says.
And we need to be as well armed as the military infantry at a minimum. Look back in history to the beginning of this Republic and the ´letters of marque´ given to people who owned ships with cannons, for example.

Criminals and terrorists are not about to obey any Booker thought up gun registration laws. Even a former mayor of a crime ridden Democrat controlled big city should realize that fact.

Go to hell, literally, Booker. Kansas no longer has ANY gun control laws, none. The state is entirely uninterested in your ownership of ANYTHING. Only federal gun laws apply in the state.

Makes sense yo me.
But it should be bundled with the same requirements for House and Senate members, whose speech is absolutely protected.; Before any person can run for public office, fingerprint him, her, or it, do an extensive background investigation.
If someone wants to start a newspaper or internet site, or cable show, same thing.
And do the same with religion.
And before there is a gathering, …
or if anyone proclaims to be LBGYQ, make them demonstrate that before a public commission.
By the way, Cutie Corey, the Canadians tried the gun registration thing. Their citizens ignored the requirements, and the government, after spending billions, gave up.

By all means, let´s insert the federal government into gun licensing. They´re so unbiased and efficient in all they do. And, let´s rely on the FBI to determine who is compliant. They, too, have demonstrated a fantastic record of unbiased efficiency. NOT.

#12, yes, and it is FAR worse than you likely know.
There have been "settled law" court cases from many decades ago that you CANNOT arrest or imprison a criminal who is forbidden to own a firearm if he fails to follow a law requiring registration of guns. The ´reasoning´, and it is now law, via court precedent, is that since it is a crime for him to own the gun, registering it would be self-incrimination, so if he doesn´t do it, it cannot be punished in any way, since we are protected from self-incrimination by the Constitution.
So, not only will criminals not register their illegal guns, they ARE NOT REQUIRED TO, cannot be punished for not doing it, but any normal person may be imprisoned for failing to register.
How´s that for a really worthless law?
