Should Notre Dame include a mosque?

Just days after Notre Dame was nearly incinerated, wealthy French families pledged close to a billion dollars to restore that magnificent monument to European Christianity — several times the anticipated cost of the restoration. French secularists who’ve been at war against religion since at least Voltaire were furious. First, the yellow-vested thugs protested that the money would be better spent on them, er, I mean on social justice. And anyway, how dare wealthy families be wealthy, and how dare they remind us of it by parting with some of their wealth, and how dare they do so voluntarily?

Is Note Dame just the symbol of the "modern, diverse" French nation?
Then --- as steadfastly Catholic Flannery O´Connor would say, and I quote--- "T´hell with it."

Only Leftists reward spoiled brat behavior, because they enjoy committing it themselves. No, thanks. Restore Nortre Dame to its original glory, not some kind of muslim icon.

Once the Great Mosque of Mecca adds a Christian chapel, we can talk about it.

It´s a Catholic church. No need for a mosque. If the shoe was the other foot, would there be a church included with the building of a new mosque? Hell no. because the protest would never end. it would be an insult to Islam. The Muslims live on a one way street. Their way is the only way.

Let´s not stop there. What about an area for the Hindus, the Buddhists, the agnostics, and the anthropological global warmists? Oh, and lets not forget the atheists. Yes, a holy area for the atheists. It could be a foxhole.

Notre Dame is owned by the government of France. They are free to do with it whatever they want, no matter how misguided. The Catholic church operates it, but the French own it.
It´s always been my opinion that houses of worship are off limits, regardless the religion or denomination. While I personally believe that Notre Dame should be restored, with any necessary upgrades for safety and to protect the building, my opinion is meaningless. Its a public building now.

Mr. Beaton puts his words in the mouths of the yellow vested protestors. That is a despicable demonizing device, and he should apologize for his misrepresentations. As for Notre Dame, its significance is its history, so should be restored to its original in entirety, and nothing more.

Well sure. Rebuild the cathedral into a mosque. And using the same forward thinking open-mindedness, why not blast the tomb of Mohammed into a hole so deep it hits water?

Should all Mosque´s have a place for Christians to worship? Perhaps a cross could be placed on top of Mecca?

The cathedral (and every other church built before 1905) does belong to the French government. However, “the government lets the Archdiocese of Paris use the building for free, and will continue to do so in perpetuity. The Archdiocese of Paris is responsible for the upkeep of the church, as well as for paying employees.”
My question is whether “upkeep” includes restoration — in which case the Catholic Church would at least have a major say in the planning.

If a famous synagogue went up in flames, would it be appropriate to put a mosque in it? Why not put a Morman Tabernacle up in ND? Why not put a Voodoo witch doctor up in it? There is no limit to the appeasement that can be accomplished. It worked out really well for Chamberlin don´t you know.

No and Hell, NO!!
Islam is a genocidal philosophy that ingratiates itself in a host country, flatters, bows, then stabs you in the back. They hate everyone who believes differently than themselves.
No one is truly safe in the presence of a Muslim.

The Wealthy who contributed 1B to the restoration will go by their version of the Golden Rule. "He who has the Gold, Makes the Rules".
I am curious who is actually on the list of Donors. It would give some indication of how the Restoration will play out.

Sure, if Christians can put chapels in mosques, and Jews can hand a Star of David out front.

I’m a very upset and disappointed Catholic who can barely make myself attend mass due to the shenanigans of Francis. If the Church lets France get away with doing anything other than restoring ND to it’s pre-fire glory, I will have to find something else to do on Sunday mornings.

That wonderful, glorious building belongs to the Christian world. It is a monument to the love and devotion our ancestors had for our God. Not theirs, OURS. We’ve lost so much to the secular, godless elements and if we don’t start standing up to them, our faith will end up as isolated persecuted enclaves all around the world.
And, I still want to know how old, huge petrified tree trunks 800 years old can be ignited by an electrical spark.

I don’t believe the Yellow Vests are totally in tune with us, totally represent our values.
From Fox News last month:
"France´s Yellow Vest protesters return to the streets enraged by billions pledged to rebuild Notre Dame”
Isn’t that about what Beaton quoted?
The Fox article goes on:
Yellow Vest protestors in Paris battled police during violent clashes Saturday -- newly enraged at the more than billion dollars that have been pledged to rebuild fire-damaged Notre Dame Cathedral, overshadowing their anti-wealth cause.
Black-hooded demonstrators set fire to trash cans, scooters and a car and pelted police with rocks to draw attention anew to their 23rd weekend of protest.
Many protesters are frustrated that the international effort to help Notre Dame has drawn more attention than their five-month-old Yellow Vest movement against wealth inequality, The Associated Press reported.

I may not like Macron, but I am sure as all get out that I am not for mandated, government supported income equality. And they are protesting private donations….
Nope. They don’t speak my language.

PS. Try reading it again. The whole thing. Beaton is on our side. I’d say most of us probably agree with him.
But you won’t know until you read the whole thing….

Well, as soon as all the big mosques in Saudi Arabia and Iran install Christian churches in their mosques, then we will consider it!!!
Until then, Notre Dame is a Catholic church!!! Always has been, always will be!!!!!
