Pope Francis walked back an earlier statement Wednesday on God “willing” a plurality of religions, saying that in reality God only permits the existence of many religions. (Snip) “The only religions that God positively willed are Judaism and Christianity for he himself founded these religions through his own positive divine actions and revelation,” Weinandy said. According to many scholars, Islam, for example, was born as a Christian heresy — a perversion of Christianity — and it would be odd if God directly willed for heresy to be proclaimed. In a series of unscripted remarks Wednesday, the pope attempted to clarify

What was the College of Cardinals thinking? Or were they not thinking? Or does Francis REALLY represent the thinking of Roman Catholic Church? What happens to the faithful who have believed in the church dogma for their lifetimes?

without wishing to give offense to a billion people all at once, this thing about Islam and heresy turns out to be interesting - So the Emperor Constantine´s family after his death viewed leadership of Christianity as their right, and one of their mistakes was the heresy called Arianism. Before it had been condemned, they actually sent Arian missionaries to North Africa. Well, Arianism is the whole Jesus is not really God, and thus a mitigation of the drama of the Father sacrificing his Son, a bowdlerization of that overwhelming story of the Crucifixion, consoling to the comfortable though it takes God away from company of the suffering. So anyhow, Athanasius won the argument against the Arians at the Council of Nicea, and after that the Catholic Church was done with that. But Arianism had been set adrift in North Africa, and after the Church rejected it, shortly thereafter it reappeared as Islam. Islam´s key disagreements with Catholicism are the same disagreements as those of the Arians. I invite correction.

#3, good questions. As a Catholic, I believe in God´s PERMISSIVE will as well as His PERFECT will. God´s perfect will can be carried out in the absence of evil. But since there is evil, we often see carried out God´s permissive will. For example, the Holocaust was God´s PERMISSIVE will. Why? Because, unfortunately,an evil maniac named Adolph Hitler perpetuated horrible evil onto millions of people. Did God have the power to stop it? Since all things are possible with God, He could have. This is why so many people don´t believe in God--because they see so many horrible things happen, and they believe a benevolent God would have stopped it. But if He did, He would interfere with man´s free will. In a perfect world, Christianity would have made great inroads the world over.

Ummmmm no. Christianity was not created by G-d. G-d laid down the rules for what is now called Judaism. Men got together and created a new religion to diffentiate themselves from the Jews. Since that time, most Christian churches are following variations of Catholicism.
If we were following the "law", we would be Jews and Messianic Jews.
Before flaming me, do some historical research. And I will refer Ya´ll to Matthew 5:18.

#7: I´m not going to "flame" you, but I definitely disagree. I am quite happy and secure in my belief that GOD (not man) sent His one and only Son to save the world (i.e., Christianity) and in the process, do away with the Law that NO ONE could keep perfectly (a requirement under the old covenant); therefore, I feel no need to look up your references or debate you.

#7 - You need to move beyond Matthew and read the rest of the New Testiment. Especially the Letters of Paul - Apostle to the Uncircumcised.

Every thing in the Old Testament pointed to Jesus Christ. God telling Abraham to sacrifice his son on the altar...but then providing a Lamb at the last minute...can´t portray what Christ did for us any clearer than that. God does not "allow" Islam anymore than he condones sin! Jesus paid that price if we will repent and believe in Him as our Savior. Outside of this, there is NO salvation. And there are no works that we can contribute to this saving work by God! It is by Grace!

How in the world did the College of Cardinals elect a commie to be Pope?
Has the entire College been taken over by commies?
I´ll continue to be a good Catholic - - but who are these people - - - - - - ?

#3 and 13, look up St Gallen Mafia. Taylor Marshall has a few videos on YouTube that explain very well. Personally, I see this as fulfillment of Fatima, Akita and Leo XIII, and while all this is disturbing, keep looking to God and waiting on Him. The Catholic Church will shrink but will remain till the end of time.

Islam is NOT a religion. It is political ideology. Mohammad tried to spread Islam for many years by preaching with little success. But when he switched to politics he conquered the Arab world. And most of political Islam deals with hatred of Jews, hatred of kafir, and taking over the world. Here is a good read on the true nature of Islam:

The interesting phenomenon is that this pope had to back down, due to the growing concern among his top tier underlings. Father Weinandy wrote him a forceful letter in 2017, but apparently this has grown into a movement that is causing him concern.
The Bible records multiple "other gods" and false religions. It was God´s pet peeve that they would worship idols and follow other gods, because these gods were in fact the fallen angels who had rebelled against God. (see Psalms 106:37-39 and II Chronicles 33:1-7)

The language used by the Pope regarding Islam is straight from Thomas Aquinas. It is dogma that God gave each one of us free will. We can decide to lknow, love and serve God or we can make up any kind of god we desire. It is also dogma that God, being a reasonable lover, will hold Himself out to the people who chose other than Him so that they have a chance to make more reasonable choices.

#7 - Matthew 5:18 - “For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished.” --- Explanation: pass away – “At the last judgment.” iota...dot – “Refers to the smallest Hebrew letter (yod) and even smaller markings in the sacred text. accomplished – The Messiah’s work, especially His death and resurrection.”
Jesus fulfilled everything that was written about Him in the Law and the Prophets. Jesus perfectly kept the commands of the Law. “The life and teachings of Jesus fulfill God’s plan to reign over His from heaven. In Jesus, the end-time reign of God has come.”

With Lent ending soon to the Glory of the Resurrection on Easter Sunday, this is a very important distinction to acknowledge and understand. It should be noted that with "free will", we are all "allowed" to exist until our own Judgement Day in the manner which we individually choose to live. Finally, clarity. Next, a walk back on "climate change"? Bueller?
