We had to look twice at this headline in the New York Times to believe it. “In Trump’s Economy, Job Gains Go to Women. That’s Not an Entirely Good Thing.” Huh? Is the Times complaining that men are being shut out of the workforce? Maybe the subhead will clear things up? Nope. It says “Despite the administration’s best attempts, the diminishing status of many American jobs is driving a spike in women’s employment.” “Best attempts”? At what? Driving down women’s employment? Is that really something the Trump administration has been putting its “best efforts” to achieve?

“Best attempts”? At what? Driving down women’s employment? Is that really something the Trump administration has been putting its “best efforts” to achieve?
Every day, it seems, brings a new story of government fraud, which raises two questions: Why is fraud so rampant? And why is so little being done to combat it?
An answer to both can be found in the more than 200 programs that the federal government pays for, but the states run. These are programs that spend a total of $1.2 trillion a year, and despite their openness to fraud, the government does little to combat it.

Feasibility studies for a high-speed rail project began in 2006. By 2018, the first section was completed and opened, seven years after construction was started. Where is this bullet train? Not in California. It’s in Morocco.
California voters approved in 2008 a ballot measure for a “safe, convenient, affordable, and reliable alternative to driving and high gas prices” by a 53%-47% margin. Golden Staters were sold a train that would require a $10 billion bond and cost $33 billion to complete. Within a dozen years it would be ripping up and down the state at 220 mph, ferrying passengers between San Diego and Sacramento.
A Fox News poll finds that a majority of Democrats say they have a favorable view of the Democratic Socialists of America. But our I&I/TIPP Poll found that Democrats reject – sometimes overwhelmingly – key DSA policy proposals.
What explains the gap?
The Fox Poll also found that 52% of Democrats have a favorable view of socialism, compared with 11% of Republicans and 17% of independents. Support for the Democratic Socialists of America is even stronger, with 59% of Democrats expressing a favorable view, compared with 6% of Republicans.

One year ago, the International Court of Justice in The Hague declared that all nations are obligated to protect the sky from greenhouse gas emissions. It’s unfortunate, but climate zealotry stubbornly hangs on.
The global warming cabal, which is less concerned with climate than abolishing capitalism and advancing their cult, has been showing cracks in recent years. A little more than a year ago, we noted that “our friend Steven Hayward,” a university professor and incisive thinker, had written “a compelling essay … about ‘The Nadir of the Climate Change Movement.'”

Florida Pizza Kitchen. It doesn’t have quite the ring to it that California Pizza Kitchen does. But had the iconic chain been dreamed up in the 2020s rather than the 1980s, it would have been FPK rather than CPK, not because the California Pizza Kitchen’s co-founders moved to Florida, though one did a couple of years ago, but due to the Golden State’s corrosive business policies.

For I&I/TIPP’s July Poll, taken by 1,473 Americans from June 29 through July 2, voters were asked whether they agreed or disagreed with five separate DSA proposals. The poll has a margin of error of +/-2.8 percentage points.

As many as 60,000 illegal migrants from Africa have swarmed the Spanish territory of Ceuta after Spain’s Supreme Court ruled migrants intercepted at sea while trying to reach the area cannot be kicked out.

With the rise of the Mamdani-style communists has come a widespread narrative that the sudden rise of more openly radical politicians means the Democrats of the last few years or decades are somehow moderate. Depending on who’s telling the story, it’s a harrowing tale about Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries trying to stave off the DSA Marxists; or the “far left” floundering because it doesn’t have its own Fox News; or the party needing a storybook journey home to the moderation of Joe Biden and Barack Obama.
These are all tall tales, of course. Schumer and Jeffries are engaged in a power struggle, but it’s an intramural contest among fellow radicals.

Elon Musk, the mercurial trillionaire, is planning another massive cash binge on behalf of the GOP's midterm campaign that might just be enough to keep the Republicans in power in the House and Senate.
In 2024, Musk dropped a cool $260 million to help elect Donald Trump. No word on exactly how much Musk is willing to shell out this election cycle, but it will only add to the Republicans' massive cash advantage over the Democrats for the November contests.

CEUTA, Spain — Tens of thousands of migrants who crossed into Spain’s tiny Ceuta territory returned voluntarily to Morocco on Friday, a day after the influx triggered chaos in the North African city and reignited the immigration debate in Europe and beyond. At least 57 migrants died on the journey.
