Morocco Speeds Past California

Feasibility studies for a high-speed rail project began in 2006. By 2018, the first section was completed and opened, seven years after construction was started. Where is this bullet train? Not in California. It’s in Morocco. California voters approved in 2008 a ballot measure for a “safe, convenient, affordable, and reliable alternative to driving and high gas prices” by a 53%-47% margin. Golden Staters were sold a train that would require a $10 billion bond and cost $33 billion to complete. Within a dozen years it would be ripping up and down the state at 220 mph, ferrying passengers between San Diego and Sacramento.

Maybe since the Moroccan government doesn't pay attention to Enviro-Nazis and Green Lawyers they can build a rail system...

Do Democrats Even Know What The DSA Stands For? 10 replies

A Fox News poll finds that a majority of Democrats say they have a favorable view of the Democratic Socialists of America. But our I&I/TIPP Poll found that Democrats reject – sometimes overwhelmingly – key DSA policy proposals. What explains the gap? The Fox Poll also found that 52% of Democrats have a favorable view of socialism, compared with 11% of Republicans and 17% of independents. Support for the Democratic Socialists of America is even stronger, with 59% of Democrats expressing a favorable view, compared with 6% of Republicans. As NBC News remarked, “step outside the Democratic Party,

One year ago, the International Court of Justice in The Hague declared that all nations are obligated to protect the sky from greenhouse gas emissions. It’s unfortunate, but climate zealotry stubbornly hangs on. The global warming cabal, which is less concerned with climate than abolishing capitalism and advancing their cult, has been showing cracks in recent years. A little more than a year ago, we noted that “our friend Steven Hayward,” a university professor and incisive thinker, had written “a compelling essay … about ‘The Nadir of the Climate Change Movement.'”

The Odyssey” is taking hits from conservatives, rightly so, for its “woke” casting. Some of director Christopher Nolan’s choices are indeed odd and distracting. (Why does the Bard look like a Rastafarian?) But it’s leftists who should be even more upset about the people chosen for key roles. Sure, the movie checks all the diversity boxes, which, according to our friends at Unleash Prosperity, is mandatory if you want your film to be considered for Best Picture in today’s leftist-controlled Hollywood. So, Nolan appeased the left’s diversity gods with a cast that, according to one count, is 50% white, 24% Latino and Hispanic, 12% black, and 9%

But had the iconic chain been dreamed up in the 2020s rather than the 1980s, it would have been FPK rather than CPK, not because the California Pizza Kitchen’s co-founders moved to Florida, though one did a couple of years ago, but due to the Golden State’s corrosive business policies. Not that long ago, California was “the greatest place to do business,” Rick Rosenfield, the CPK co-founder who fled to the Sunshine State, told Fox News Digital.

The Federal Communications Commission is wasting no time unleashing the spectrum made available by President Donald Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Chairman Brendan Carr announced that the agency is preparing to auction 160 megahertz of Upper C-Band spectrum, one of the largest blocks of mid-band spectrum ever brought to market, and he’s doing it faster than anyone expected. That’s great news for customers, businesses, and the U.S. economy. Restoring the FCC’s authority to auction spectrum licenses to the private sector was one of the many fantastic provisions of the Big Beauty that went largely unnoticed

Back in June, we called on the mainstream media to pressure Democrats into answering questions about the increasingly radical Democratic Socialists of America platform. “With the rapid takeover of their party by the Democratic Socialists of America underway,” we wrote, “it’s time for every Democrat to answer for what the DSA believes in.” (See: “10 Questions Every Democrat Must Now Be Made To Answer.”) We’re glad that one news network, at least, has taken us up on our advice.

SpaceX’s IPO in June was the largest in history. The stock initially surged after its debut, reaching a high of more than $225 per share, but has since fallen below its $135 IPO price. From its peak, the stock has now lost about 42%. Rocket Lab, after an extraordinary rally over the past two years, has suffered sharp pullbacks of more than 30%. Planet Labs tells a similar story: spectacular gains followed by painful corrections. To many investors, the conclusion seems obvious: another bubble. But the real question is not whether commercial space contains speculative excess.

There’s little question that the Democratic Socialists of America are more influential than any time in recent history. Indeed, it’s perhaps the most influential arm of the Democratic Party today, wielding policy clout and winning local elections. But are DSA policies really so popular? July’s I&I/TIPP Poll asked voters to find out. The DSA’s recent “Workers Deserve More!” document outlined its main policy goals. For I&I/TIPP’s July Poll, taken by 1,473 Americans from June 29 through July 2, voters were asked whether they agreed or disagreed with five separate DSA proposals. The poll has a margin of error of +/-2.8 percentage points.

Nick Shirley, the young man who has been putting “professional” journalists to shame with his on-site reporting on rampant Medicaid fraud, released another video exposing schemes in New York, these involving senior centers for elderly Koreans and Chinese. One that he visited, an adult day care in Flushing, claims to have nearly 8,000 members, for which it bills Medicaid $1,600 each. But even an employee admits that the number is wildly inflated. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz joined Shirley. [snip] But not all government fraud is illegal. In fact, we’d say that legal fraud is an even bigger scam than what Shirley is uncovering.

Anthony Fauci on Wednesday appeared before the U.S. Senate Homeland Security Committee, but pleaded the Fifth to avoid answering questions by Senator Rand Paul (R., Ky.) and others about his obfuscation of facts surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic. Fauci told the committee in an opening statement that he believes in and respects “the value of legitimate congressional oversight,” and noted he had testified before or briefed Senate and House committees more than 200 times over his 38-year career. He mentioned appearing for hearings in the Senate and House for transcribed, sworn interviews about the Covid-19 pandemic.

Is there a serious crisis of confidence in the Social Security system? It certainly looks that way, based on the latest national online I&I/TIPP Poll, which was taken June 29 through July 2 by 1,473 Americans. The poll’s first question asked voters: “How confident are you that Social Security will pay full scheduled benefits throughout your retirement?” Among those responding, 43% said they were either “very confident” (16%) or “somewhat confident” (23%). But 47% answered either “not very confident” (23%) or “not at all confident” (24%). Another 10% said they were not sure.

A stunning paperwork failure has handed Democrats a guaranteed pickup in Florida House District 47 without forcing them to win a November general election. Democrats have effectively flipped a Republican-held seat in the Florida House after GOP incumbent Paula Stark failed to qualify for the ballot and her legal effort to reverse the disastrous mistake collapsed in court. Leon County Circuit Judge Joshua Hawkes formally dismissed Stark’s lawsuit on July 23 and ordered the clerk to close the case, ending the Republican lawmaker’s last-ditch attempt to regain her place on the 2026 ballot, according to Florida Politics. What a cowardly and shameful final chapter for Dr. Anthony Fauci, who pleaded the Fifth 111 times in the Senate Wednesday even though he has a pre-emptive presidential pardon that gives him immunity from prosecution. In the history of Congress, only a couple of mob bosses have invoked the privilege more. “On the advice of counsel, I respectfully decline to answer, based upon my rights, under the Fifth Amendment of the Constitution,” the Machiavellian career bureaucrat said over and over in the nearly three-hour hearing before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. But Fauci’s silence rendered him a villain more powerfully than his usual sly deceptions. Shameful, too,

At least three times in 1858, during speeches or in Lincoln-Douglas Debates, Abraham Lincoln brought up slavery as being on a path to ultimate extinction. Whether it was in Chicago on July 10th or Jonesboro on September 15th, crediting the nation's founding fathers as crafting the Constitution as the vehicle creating the dead-end path for that evil institution, or from the phrase's most famous citation, the House Divided Speech on June 15th in Springfield, Lincoln's meaning was quite clear. I have worked to ensure that the Department uses this funding Congress appropriated to replenish U.S. funding to GAVI, an organization that plays a critical role in averting the spread of preventable diseases globally and stopping outbreaks before they reach U.S. borders,” she added.
