More than a dozen travelers were banned from sailing with Carnival Cruise Line after fighting at the port in Miami.
The altercation took place in the Customs and Border Protection debarkation area, according to the company. The June 22 fight occurred between two families and police responded, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO) said.
“The incident was deemed a mutual combatant incident,” MDSO told USA TODAY in an email. Police documented the fight, but the parties declined to press charges.
“We are appreciative of law enforcement’s swift response and handling of the matter,” Carnival said in an emailed statement. “We do not tolerate such behavior, and 16 people have been placed

Amy touched upon this this morning. There was a terrible no-call that occurred during the Indiana Fever-Phoenix Mercury game last night. Phoenix Forward Alyssa Thomas punched Clark in the throat. No whistle was blown: (tweets/video)This is an obvious flagrant 2, but the league is allowing Clark to be used as a punching bag. Even Indiana’s coach, Stephanie White, torched the league for letting this slide: (snip)Yet, that’s not the only indignity—Clark was left off the 30th anniversary cover of the WNBA. It’s not a screw-up, as Paige Bueckers and Angel Reese are on it. Fox Sports’ Colin Cowherd ripped into the league for being paranoid, weird, and insular:

President Donald Trump's meeting with Senate Republicans might have been meant to find a way to pass voter ID and citizenship verification legislation, but it devolved into a tense shouting match over the war in Iran.
Tensions among Senate Republicans were already simmering with Trump over his last-minute decision to nuke the 21st Century Road to Housing Act, a bipartisan housing package filled with his priorities that the GOP viewed as an easy win to sell to voters in the upcoming midterm elections.
Trump described the closed-door affair in a positive light afterward.
"I think we had a really great meeting, and we're very proud of the party,"

Democratic strategist James Carville called for a “schism” in the Democratic Party, stating that he wants nothing to do with the likes of three candidates who won their Democratic primaries in New York. On Tuesday, three candidates endorsed by New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a democratic socialist, won Democratic primaries for the House of Representatives.
Former NYC comptroller Brad Lander crushed Rep. Dan Goldman to earn the nomination in the 10th district.

An Indiana University professor who presented the slogan "Make America Great Again" as a form of white supremacy that is "worse than police killing people of color" is no longer employed at the institution.
In a graduate-level course, "Diversity, Human Rights and Social Justice," instructor Jessica Adams showed a pyramid graphic listing statements and actions that she called overt forms of white supremacy, which included lynching and racial slurs.
Alongside these acts was a list of what Adams calls covert white supremacy, which includes the Trump campaign slogan "Make America Great Again"

Second Lady Usha Vance took to social media Wednesday afternoon to have some fun at the expense of the New York Times, which had just published an absurd article in which the author vigorously clutched her pearls over the recent MAGA baby boom. Egads, wrote Vanessa Friedman (who is apparently the paper's chief fashion critic), not only is Vance enjoying her pregnancy, she's flaunting it for all to see!
To which Mrs. Vance basically replied, "Oh well."
Friedman's premise seemed to be that the second lady – along with White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt and Katie Miller, wife of Deputy White House Chief of Staff Stephen Miller,

The company formerly known as Dominion Voting Systems is ending a $1.3 billion defamation lawsuit against Mike Lindell, the MyPillow magnate and President Trump ally who has promoted false claims that the 2020 election was stolen.
Dominion sued the businessman in 2021, alleging that Lindell knew there was no evidence to support his election conspiracy theories, but used the lies to sell pillows. When he was sued, Lindell told WCCO's Esme Murphy that he was "very happy" about the lawsuit, saying the truth would come out.
In October 2025, Dominion was acquired by St. Louis-based Liberty Vote, which was founded by former Republican elections director Scott Leiendecker.

Conservative Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito could barely contain himself Thursday after liberal Justice Sonia Sotomayor opted to read her full dissent in an immigration case from the bench, a rare rebuke of her colleagues.
Alito began by briefly summing up his majority opinion in Mullin v. Al Otro Lado, in which he held that the government has the right to turn back migrants stopped at the US border before giving them a chance to apply for asylum.
As Sotomayor read her 35-page dissent, Alito — never known for his poker face — began rocking back and forth in his chair before leaning forward, propping

Brits visiting the United States for the first time for the 2026 World Cup are apologizing to Americans on social media. “We owe America a huge apology,” one fan from England said.
Foreign World Cup fans have been traveling to various towns across the country this month to watch games, allowing them to get a glimpse of life in the United States, and some have taken to social media to admit they have been pleasantly surprised.
“We owe America a huge apology, because America is nothing like the media tells us. Everyone is so friendly, everyone is so accommodating, and I’ve honestly had the best time,”

Denmark is considering a nationwide ban on the Islamic call to prayer, with the country’s immigration minister saying it should not be heard “over Danish rooftops.”
Morten Bødskov said the government will reopen an investigation into whether the noise can be legally prohibited across the country.
“The call to prayer should not be heard over Danish rooftops,” Bødskov told Danish news agency Ritzau.
“It has no place in Denmark, and you shouldn’t be in any doubt whether you’ve ended up in a suburb of Islamabad when you walk around Denmark.”

NEW YORK — Mayor Zohran Mamdani got another major win Thursday night when the Rent Guidelines Board voted to freeze rents on the city’s roughly 1 million rent-stabilized apartments. The mayor-appointed panel voted 7-1 to freeze rents on both one- and two-year leases, an unprecedented move that came despite protests from landlords that it would push them into deeper financial straits. The freeze, which will cover some 2 million tenants, will take effect for leases signed starting in October. (Snip) It caps a triumphant week for the Democratic socialist, who scored a clean sweep in Tuesday’s primary elections. The mayor’s

An illegal alien has been sentenced to eight years in federal prison for his involvement in an $89 million fraudulent payroll scheme that saw illegal alien construction workers and their employers evade taxes.
“Today, we held an illegal alien from Honduras accountable for a brazen scheme that stole more than $38 million from American taxpayers to facilitate the employment of illegal aliens,” Assistant Attorney General Colin McDonald said.
“This case exposes how unchecked illegal immigration fuels widespread payroll tax fraud and underground economies that harm American workers and taxpayers,” McDonald said. “This sentence sends a strong message: Those who exploit our open borders, cheat the U.S. Treasury, and violate federal laws
