U.S. House Republicans passed their No Aid for Ghost Students Act of 2026 on June 10, marking the end of a 3-month effort to pass the bill through the House of Representatives.
The bill, originally introduced to the floor by Congressman Burgess Owens of Utah in March 2026, seeks to crack down on criminals who pocket financial aid.
These criminals — “ghost students” — are thieves who impersonate higher education students to enroll in courses and receive federal financial aid that they can steal. The problem has grown since 2019, prompted by an increase in online courses being offered.
The No Aid for Ghost Students Act would require

A mock-up for a new memorial on the National Mall drew criticism from Republicans and veterans after it was revealed by the Global War on Terrorism Memorial Foundation on Thursday.
Sen. Jim Banks (R-IN), who served in Afghanistan, called the proposal a disgrace. “Thousands of heroic Americans sacrificed everything in service to our nation during the Global War on Terror,” Banks said. “These were real people with real stories. They deserve to be honored with dignity, not disconnected abstract art.”
The memorial honors the fallen service members who served in the global war on terrorism. Standing in the National Mall, the memorial is positioned to align directly with

4,000 current and former SpaceX employees are already mapping out plans to spend their anticipated wealth from the company’s expected initial public offering, with luxury real estate, high-end watches, and private jet travel topping their wish lists. Even the company’s cafeteria workers are expected to cash in on the rocket-based gravy train.
CNBC reports that the SpaceX IPO is expected to create thousands of new millionaires and several billionaires among the company’s workforce. Although employees will not be able to sell their shares immediately due to standard lockup periods, many are already planning how to allocate their newfound wealth. Industry experts predict this windfall could significantly impact

Radical left-wing actress Jane Fonda will headline a so-called “free speech” event to counter President Donald Trump’s UFC Freedom 250 event on June 14.
The actress, known as “Hanoi Jane” for supporting America’s communist enemies in the 1970s, is hosting her “Rise Up, Sing Out” event in New York City on the same day as Trump’s big UFC event planned for Washington D.C.
“This is our documentary moment,” Fonda told Reuters. “History is going to write about this, and I don’t want to be on the side of people who said, ‘Oh my God, things are so bad, what am I going to do?’ No. I want to be

Opendoor, a U.S. real estate technology company, is shutting down its entire operations in India, the CEO announced Wednesday.
CEO Kaz Nejatian announced the move as part of Opendoor 2.0, the company’s push to simplify operations, use more AI, and better serve American customers. The company is bringing the work back to the U.S., which will affect about 250 employees in Chennai and Bengaluru, India. It’s important to note that this is not about creating a flood of new American jobs. Opendoor is simply getting smaller in total headcount. The company recently had around 1,400 employees and is deliberately reducing its offshore staff in India to utilize its emerging AI tools.

If you ask, many Americans will tell you that one of the things they hate most about "the swamp," Washington, D.C., is the fact that once a congressman or senator gets elected, pulling them out of said swamp is next to impossible, and the result is geriatric lawmakers being wheeled around in wheelchairs. It's certainly not what the Founding Fathers intended. Now, one House member may have the answer to this dilemma. Republican Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) has introduced a bill that would end both pay and power for House and Senate members who have reached 12 years of service in their respective legislative bodies.

The U.S. Department of the Interior said on Thursday it is investigating what appeared to be a large tracing of "8647" into the grounds of the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
A Reuters photographer atop the Washington Monument saw the apparent marking in the grass near the World War Two Memorial shortly before authorities arrived at the scene. It shows the numbers eight, six and seven, but a four is not clearly defined. U.S. Park Police and members of the National Guard responded to the scene.

Well, that didn’t last long.
On June 2, President Trump appointed Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte as Acting Director of National Intelligence, replacing Tulsi Gabbard, who stepped down following her husband’s diagnosis with a rare bone cancer. He will officially transition to the role on June 19. That announcement was met with swift resistance from Democrats and even some Republicans who said he was unqualified for the role and had no prior experience. He had also severely hurt the feelings of the Dems by referring Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA), Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook, and NY Attorney General Letitia James to the Justice Department for mortgage fraud.

Vice President J.D. Vance will be a guest on ABC’s “The View” Tuesday to discuss his new book about faith and field questions about current events.
Fox News reported that he will be the third sitting vice president to appear on the program. All six “View” co-hosts, including Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Ana Navarro, are expected to be on hand.
“The View’s” hosts are known for being notoriously anti-Donald Trump and his administration. Even the two Republicans on the program — Navarro and Griffin — are harsh critics of the president.

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., on Thursday released documents showing that former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Dr. Anthony Fauci had deep, decades-long ties with the U.S. intelligence community that predate the COVID-19 pandemic by nearly 20 years.
In the timeline produced by the chairman of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, Paul chronicles extensive communications and contacts between Fauci and spy agencies.
For instance, when private emails show him alarmed by the COVID-19 virus’s engineered-looking features in January 2020, Fauci helped orchestrate the “Proximal Origin” paper that publicly dismissed a lab origin and instead argued that the virus emerged naturally.
Fauci then quietly fed that same

Texas Senate candidate James Talarico (D.) earned tens of thousands of dollars working as an "equitable education" consultant for a firm that develops DEI plans for public schools in Texas. The firm, MAYA Consulting, described its work as "rooted in our diversity, equity, and inclusion philosophy" and donated to a group working to defund the Austin Police Department, a Washington Free Beacon review found.
Talarico first announced he was joining MAYA, which has since rebranded as VIDA Collaborative, in 2019, writing in a Facebook post that he would be "working with districts, nonprofits, and communities to build excellent and equitable educational opportunities." Talarico worked for the firm until October 2025
