Suicide, Canadian Style

Last week, we wrote about how euthanasia has become one of the most popular and easily accessible healthcare “treatments” available in Canada’s socialized medical care system, thanks to the country’s embrace of medically assisted suicide. We noted that, “From a government bean counter’s perspective, the more suicides the better.” (See “Canada Shows The Gruesome Side Of Socialized Healthcare.”) This week, we came across a study published in the OMEGA — Journal of Death and Dying that “explores the potential economic savings from expanding medical assistance in dying (MAID) in Canada.”

Officials deny pushing people to die, while touting the savings from pushing people to die. Government and medical officials contradicting themselves, kind of like we got during the covid scam.

The United Nations is going broke? Please, say it is so. The world’s largest parasite, the running cocktail party for despots, apparatchiks, terrorists, climate fanatics and Americanophobes, should be shut down — with prejudice. News reports tell us the U.N. is facing imminent bankruptcy, headed toward a financial collapse and is at risk of insolvency. It’s “expected to officially run out of money in mid-August.” The best part is “the United States is a big reason why.” “The United States owes roughly $2 billion to the organization’s regular budget on top of another $2.2 billion for peacekeeping
Midterm Voters: Are You Better Off Than

This isn’t normally the time when voters are asked whether they are better off than they were four years ago. That’s the question that tends to come around in presidential election years. But as the midterms approach, it’s what everyone should ask themselves as they decide who controls Congress for the next two years. Because the answer is obvious. Let’s turn the dial back to June 2022. Joe Biden had been occupying the White House for a year and a half. Democrats controlled Congress, handing him his $2 trillion “Build Back Better” spending extravaganza. The economy had more than recovered the ground

It’s been a rocky spring for President Donald Trump, at least as far as his favorability ratings go among voters. That’s the bad news. But there’s also good news for Trump: His ratings showed little change in the latest I&I/TIPP Poll, as he moves toward a deal with Iran that will reopen the Mideast’s oil spigots. The national online I&I/TIPP Poll each month asks voters to assess presidential performance. June’s poll was taken from May 26 through May 28, and included a sample of 1,589 adults, with a margin of error of +/-2.7 percentage points. The first question:

In Canada, if your doctor refers you to a specialist, you’ll likely have to wait 15 weeks to get an appointment. Then another 13 weeks to get treated. Just getting an MRI will take 4 1/2 months, on average. But if you want to kill yourself? You can get a same-day appointment. Welcome to the healthcare system that Bernie Sanders and his socialist pals want to import into the U.S. A decade ago, Canada legalized “Medical Assistance in Dying,” or MAID. At first it was limited to those whose deaths were “reasonably foreseeable,” such as end-stage

If President Donald Trump is considering handing over billions to the terrorists of Tehran and leaving them in control of the Strait of Hormuz, as some news dispatches have indicated, he will have committed a blunder. The only choice they should be offered is to give up everything or lose it all to the almighty forces of the U.S. and Israeli militaries. If not, the Iranian threat will never be eliminated, only weakened for a time before returning to its demonic affairs, leaving a mess for someone else to clean up. Because Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had

Energy Costs: I&I/TIPP Poll

Gasoline prices have soared to their highest levels since 2022’s pandemic inflation sent prices to record highs across the nation. Why are prices so high now? If you ask average Americans, they overwhelmingly choose one answer: The U.S. war with Iran, which has sent crude oil prices soaring above $100 a barrel. As the latest I&I/TIPP Poll shows, Americans are feeling the pinch from higher energy costs. With prices now at a national average of $4.53 a gallon (still below the all-time high of $5 a gallon in June 2022), the cost of gasoline again has seized Americans’ attention.

Democrats were quick to make hay of President Donald Trump’s remark that the high price of gasoline “is peanuts.” But what if he’s right? What if today’s prices are lower than they were, say, when we had a peanut farmer as president? Or many times since then? Democrats called Trump “out of touch” with everyday Americans. “’Peanuts’ isn’t how my constituents would describe the spiking gas prices that make everyday life more expensive,” said New Hampshire Sen. Jeanne Shaheen. “POTUS isn’t paying for this war. Middle-class Americans are, and he couldn’t care less.”

You’d think that the Iran war would have been good news for EV sales, given the boost in gasoline prices and general uncertainty it sparked. Instead, it might someday mark the beginning of the end of the left’s EV dreams. New EV sales in April – the second full month of the war – were down 6.2% compared with March, and down a whopping 23% from the year before, according to Cox Automotive. True, overall car sales were down last month, but just by 5.4% year over year, and 1.9% from March. In other words, people were increasingly turning to gasoline-powered cars when they bought in April.

The cost of higher education has become a major issue for many, if not most, American parents and even grandparents. As education costs explode, so has the amount of debt students have to pay off after they graduate. This month’s I&I/TIPP Poll asks: Is it worth the cost? And what role should government play? The national online I&I/TIPP Poll, taken by 1,464 adults from April 28 to May 1 , asked voters four education-finance related questions. The poll has a margin of error of +/-2.9 percentage points. The first question: “Do you believe the federal government should provide student loans and financial aid to college programs where

Predicting that catastrophe is just around the next corner is an old game for the global warming crowd. From Al Gore to Rep. That we are able to note this today is remarkable, because one crank is sure that 2026 is the year of our extinction. “I can’t imagine there will be a human on the planet in 10 years,” Guy McPherson said when asked in 2016 how much time the human race had. “We’re headed for a temperature in that span

The House approved a war powers resolution Wednesday that would halt the US military action against Iran, defying President Donald Trump as a handful of Republicans joined with Democrats to end the three-month-long war that has reordered politics at home and abroad. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) had tried to prevent an outcome that would show the mounting opposition to the war, abruptly shutting down floor action two weeks ago when the war powers resolution was on the verge of approval. But displeasure has only grown as the conflict drags on and as Trump struggles to negotiate a quick resolution. The roll call Wednesday was 215-208,

The Democratic nominee to represent New Jersey's Seventh Congressional District in the House of Representatives, Rebecca Bennett, said she "stopped going to church" because she could not sit in a room "full of people who voted for Trump," audio obtained by the Washington Free Beacon shows. At a campaign event in February, a woman asked Bennett, "I loved hearing you say that you're a patriot, but what are you going to do about that being a right-coded way of presenting yourself?" Bennett responded with a story about how she stopped attending church services because she could not bear to be around people who voted for President Donald Trump.

Former President Joe Biden crashed his wife Jill’s debut book talk Tuesday, stealing her spotlight to bizarrely ask the former first lady who she loves the most in a cringe-inducing moment before aides could cut him off. Jill Biden had been wrapping up a Q&A about her newly released book “A View from the East Wing” with moderator Whoopi Goldberg at the 92nd Street Y on the Upper East Side when Biden, 83, left his seat in the audience and wandered up to the edge of the stage. Goldberg had read a comment from the audience thanking Biden for his service, and Jill, 75, stood up —

Mom’s not the word. New York state Democrats passed a bill to erase words like “mother” and “father” from Family Court Law — in the latest gender-neutral rewriting in the state’s official records. “Mother” would be replaced with “gestating parent” while “father” becomes “non-gestating parent” and “paternity” proceedings would become “parentage” proceedings under the woke bill that was rammed through both houses of the state legislature this week. A “putative father” in paternity proceedings would now be defined as “an alleged parent” under the bill, which was sponsored by liberals Sen. Luis Sepulveda (D-Bronx) and Assemblywoman Amy Paulin (D-Westchester) and goes to Gov. Kathy Hochul’s desk for approval.

Two hundred and ten years ago this summer, a 19-year-old woman named Mary Shelley, bored one stormy afternoon, decided to write the scariest story ever told. It was a tale of a brilliant and arrogant man who wanted to change the world but ended up creating a monster. She named him Barack Obama. All right, she named him Dr. Frankenstein. But had the great author been around to witness Adam Hamawy win the Democratic primary in New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District, she would’ve understood right away that she was looking at a familiar tale of hubris, malice and ghouls on the loose.

So Tuesday marks the end of a seemingly never-ending period that ends this evening; it’s hardly election day. Well, perhaps we’ll know the winners and the losers by the end of the evening, you might argue, so we can still call it "election night." Insufferable NeverTrumper John Bolton has worked out a plea deal and will plead guilty to a single count of “illegal retention of sensitive national security documents,” reports far-left CNN. Bolton was originally charged with “eight counts of transmission of national defense information and 10 counts of retention of national defense information.” A conviction on any of those counts would’ve meant serious jail time. On this one count, although the penalty is up to five years in prison, the deal apparently comes with Bolton agreeing to plead guilty and pay a fine of $2.25 million without jail time. However, a judge could still sentence the 77-year-old to prison regardless of the plea agreement.
