In a remote Chinese desert, a vast military complex is taking shape that some security scholars say appears built to ensure no American first strike on China’s nuclear arsenal could reliably knock out Beijing’s ability to hit back.
China’s nuclear missiles can already reach any city in the United States. Now, satellite images reviewed by Reuters show Beijing is building a sprawling web of launch pads, bunkers and communications nodes near the isolated nuclear silos that hold the Chinese military’s longest-range missiles.

Police in Fairfax County, Va., responded to a “swatting” attempt at the home of Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett on Wednesday evening, authorities have confirmed to National Review.
“Yesterday evening at approximately 9:02 p.m., officers responded to a swatting call at the residence of U.S. Supreme Court Justice in Fairfax County,” county police said in a statement to NR. Swatting refers to the practice of making false emergency calls to draw a heavy police response.
“The call was received through the department’s non-emergency line,” the statement adds. “Officers immediately coordinated with Supreme Court Police personnel assigned to the residence

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt is on leave because she just had a baby. So in her absence, they have occasionally been subbing in some of the Trump administration officials to handle the briefing with the press corps.
We've seen both Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance have a go at it, and they did a good job dealing with the chaos and responding to the questions.
Thursday was Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's turn. As we reported, among the subjects he addressed was Iran and how they were not going to be allowed to put in any kind of a charging system

After weeks of speculation, CBS News under Bari Weiss has made some big changes to the team at 60 Minutes -- firing the executive producer Tanya Simon, as well as correspondents Sharyn Alfonsi and Cecilia Vega. Draggan Mihailovich, the executive editor of the show, was also fired, as was Matthew Polevoy, a senior producer. They announced a new executive producer -- Nick Bilton, a former New York Times technology columnist who has made documentaries for HBO and Netflix. The New York Times typically dissed their former co-workers for being inexperienced: “Ms. Weiss, an opinion journalist with no prior experience in television,”

As we reported, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has reportedly been reached by negotiators between Iran and the U.S., but it hasn't been approved by President Donald Trump. We'll keep you apprised on that, but so far, the White House hasn't confirmed anything.
Iran was trying to float a fake MOU that the White House had called out the day before, but this new report was allegedly based on U.S. officials and not Iran. In any event. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent explained that Operation Economic Fury had led to some big consequences in Iran and more was on the way. Their economy was in "free fall," Bessent explained. Mojtaba Khamenei has not approved a drafted 60-day memorandum of understanding with the US, which is why President Donald Trump has also not agreed to a deal, a source familiar with the matter told The Jerusalem Post on Thursday.
This follows a Thursday Axios report that negotiators from the US and Iran have reached an agreement on a memorandum of understanding to extend the ongoing ceasefire.
The proposed MoU would last 60 days and kick-start negotiations toward a final agreement on Iran’s nuclear program, the report continued, citing two US officials.
In effect, there may be an understanding among

As hard as it may be for MS NOW justice and intelligence reporter Ken Dilanian to understand, Republicans are still not happy about the FBI downplaying the partisan motivations of the 2017 congressional baseball shooter. Therefore, when the agent involved in that conclusion was fired on Wednesday, Dilanian took to the air to claim the agent was just the latest in a string of FBI officials sacked for “simply doing their job.”
First, Dilanian joined Ana Cabrera Reports and had a hard time understanding why anyone would even consider the original conclusion controversial,

As RedState reported, in 2023, a district court three-judge panel blocked the use of 2023 maps drawn by the Alabama legislature and forced them to draw a second majority-minority district. After the Supreme Court of the United States' decision in Louisiana v. Callais, Alabama petitioned for redress of this ruling, and SCOTUS vacated the district court decision in early May, sending it back to the district court to review the case.
On Tuesday, this same three-judge panel once again blocked the use of 2023 maps on the same basis: that the maps are deliberately discriminatory and violateg

Though I find it pretty amusing that there are various "political experts" out there among the Commentariat™ who are now suggesting that the seat currently held by the departing Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) might be flippable, I'm not yet ready to declare any race a "sure thing" one way or the other, considering the current political climate, where things you once thought would never happen have actually happened.
It's hard not to, though, when one considers the goldmine of material Texas Democrat Senate nominee James Talarico has put out there over the years for Trump-backed Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, the newly minted GOP Senate nominee, to exploit.

Spoiler alert: Naaah. But it's certainly fun to fantasize.
Yes, John Cornyn may have been a slightly safer bet than Ken Paxton in a general election. Given the relative difference between how the two would have voted over the next six years, the gain from nominating Paxton probably doesn't justify the assumed risk of dethroning the incumbent Cornyn. It might take more money to fight for the seat in the general election, but that assumes that Democrats would have left Texas alone had Cornyn eked out a win over Paxton.
In the end, though, Texas is Texas,

The US military has carried out new strikes on Iran, targeting a military site in Bandar Abbas, a strategic port city.
US Central Command (Centcom) said its forces also shot down four Iranian one-way attack drones "that posed a threat around the Strait of Hormuz".
The site in Bandar Abbas was struck as it was about to launch a fifth drone, Centcom said. Iranian media reported that explosions were heard to the east of the city.
The strikes come amid a fragile ceasefire between the US and Iran, and protracted negotiations to end the three-month war that has choked traffic in the Strait of Hormuz and shot up global energy prices.

Democrats gave another example of how clueless they are with a post from their official Democratic Party X account that is being blasted, including by at least one prominent Democrat.
They posted the pictures of the 13 service members who have died so far in Operation Epic Fury, saying, "We honor the American heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in Trump's war with Iran." They repeated over pictures, "Remembering the Americans who have died in Trump's war with Iran." You have to wonder what they were thinking, whoever the person was behind that post. But it's so consistent with all their other attack posts,
