Thomas Edsall's weekly opinion column at the NY Times is always a kind of doomscroll for Democrats. Nearly all of the columns have the same premise which goes something like this: Republicans are destroying America and only Democrats can stop them, but there's a problem. And give Edsall credit for realizing that this setup is evergreen at the NY Times. It is after all a paper for Democrats who are convinced they have all the answers to all the problems caused by everyone else, if only... Today's edition of the column fits right into this pattern. It's titled "Is There a Door No. 3 for Democrats?" Here's the opening paragraph. Despite

In spite of such insane behavior. Complete lack of coherent policies. Antics of madcap actors, outright treason, redistricting setbacks, there is still talk of a blue wave. What am I missing?

Yes, finding middle ground could attract more people from the middle. But dems have shown that when they CLAIM to be for moderation to get elected, they don't govern that way. Their HISTORY proves that they are liars about moderation. In fact, their history shows on only are they not moderates but they are also criminals, and voters KNOW it. Plus, all the energy in the dem party exists with the hard Left and they cannot win elections without them. If the dems pretend to move toward the middle, they may get some moderate voters but loose the Leftists. They end up not much better off. Plus there is another problem in seeking the middle. The Republicans are already there. While the dems try to paint Republicans as extremists, they mostly are not. The wins in courts lately show that when Republican policies are checked, they meet the law's requirements. Republicans want schools to educate instead of indoctrinate. That's pretty normal. Republicans want successful business policies and good jobs for qualified people. Again, pretty normal. Why do we need dems in the middle when Republicans have already filled that space? Especially, when dems have proven they aren't serious about being moderates and are also proven to be generally inept at governing.

They took Door No. 3 when they tried to impeach Trump - twice. They took Door No. 4 when they brought endless lawsuits to against Trump to "save our democracy". They took Door No. 5 when they tried to facilitate Trump's assassination. They can't see any more doors. As #1 stated, they do not want to lose their insanity.

Any 'move to the middle' will be window dressing for votes. Once in office the dressings come off, i.e. Spanberger. Warnings go unheeded by gullible, pie-in-the-sky useful idiots.

The Dem party has been taken over by the extreme left and the rest of the party is either leaving politics or simply remaining silent. While this may work in the urban centers, most of America sees it for what it is - a power grab.

FTA: "unauthorized immigration". That right there is the media's problem in a nutshell. Calling it anything else does not make it not ILLEGAL immigration. Anyone with a brain reading that knows it is dishonest.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08) has always had a slightly desperate air about him since he took over the reins from Rep. Nancy Pelosi in November 2022. He lives in her shadow, and in fact, many observers consider him her puppet. He has grown increasingly bitter over the years as his political impotence is exposed almost daily by the Republicans, who keep trumping him on issue after issue. He's gone from just being generally unlikable to bitter, vitriolic, and resentful, and his endless rage stands in stark contrast to the optimism and hope that Trump and the GOP radiate. He was at it again on Tuesday, using inciting rhetoric

WASHINGTON — The US war on Iran has degraded Tehran’s ability to launch or direct another mass atrocity on Israel like the Hamas attack of Oct. 7, 2023, the top officer in charge of the US military in the Middle East testified Tuesday. Adm. Brad Cooper, the head of US Central Command, told the House Armed Services Committee that Operation Epic Fury, combined with the American strikes on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure last year, set back Iran’s ability to wage war by more than four decades. “Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis have been cut off from the decades-long flow of military supplies, thus mitigating and eliminating

As RedState reported, there was a mass shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego on Monday, just before noon Pacific time. Three people were killed, including a security guard at the mosque named Amin Abdullah, who reportedly "played a pivotal role" in saving lives. The two teenagers who San Diego police say opened fire have been identified as 17-year-old Cain Lee Clark and 18-year-old Caleb Liam Vazquez (earlier reports that had his last name listed as Velasquez were incorrect). They reportedly became friends online, where they were radicalized. Both were found dead a few blocks away in a car with what investigators believe were self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

The votes are still being tallied, but Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) has won the Republican primary for Governor of Alabama. (He has 88.4 percent of the vote as of this writing.) Tuberville ran away from his Republican opponents: businessman and political gadfly Ken McFeeters, and self-described businessman and entrepreneur Will Santivasci. In 2025, Tuberville announced he would seek the Alabama governorship. As a former and beloved head coach at Auburn University from 1999 to 2008, Tuberville already had the name recognition and goodwill of a majority of Alabamians. Combine that with his record as a senator who stands up and fights

CRESTWOOD, Ky. — Kentucky U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie lost his Republican House primary Tuesday after a concerted effort by President Donald Trump to oust him from Congress through challenger and ultimate winner Ed Gallrein. The result showed the president’s persisting influence over GOP voters, adding to a growing number of Trump-backed primary challengers to defeat Republican lawmakers who angered him in his second term. Massie, who has served in Congress since 2012, angered Trump by pushing for the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files, criticizing the war in Iran and voting against his signature tax legislation last year. The congressman tried to convince

WASHINGTON – In a political blow to President Donald Trump, the Senate on May 19 moved forward for the first time with a measure to end the war in Iran. After several key Republican senators didn't vote – and another key GOP bloc defected – the war powers resolution advanced, 50-47. Though the vote was largely procedural, and faces an uphill battle to actually becoming law, the resolution's progress was a bad omen for the White House about potentially waning support in Congress for the war. Rising gas prices, spiking inflation and the president's sinking polling numbers have become political liabilities for battleground GOP lawmakers as the November midterm elections approach.

Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) was among the four Republican Senators who voted in favor of moving forward with a resolution that would direct President Donald Trump to pull the U.S. military out of the conflict with Iran. Cassidy’s vote in favor of moving forward with the Iran War Powers Resolution comes days after he lost his reelection bid to Trump-endorsed Rep. Julia Letlow (R-LA), and Louisiana Treasurer John Fleming. The Senate voted 50-47 to move the War Powers Resolution out from the Senate’s Foreign Relation Committee, with Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Susan Collins (R-ME), Rand Paul (R-KY), and Cassidy voting with the Democrats, CBS News reported.

The latest strike came Monday when a longtime voting activist in California reached a deal with federal prosecutors to admit to illegally paying homeless people to sign election petitions and paying people to register to vote in a two-decade scheme that allegedly leveraged the Democrat-run state’s lax mail-in voting system,
