Birthright citizenship, girls sports, the definition of Election Day, and other hot-button topics are on the line in upcoming Supreme Court decisions.
The court’s 2025–2026 term is expected to end in June with a series of rulings that could impact social issues and President Donald Trump’s agenda.
The last scheduled oral argument was held on April 29; the justices considered whether Trump wrongfully terminated deportation protections for thousands of Haitian and Syrian nationals. That decision and a ruling on Trump’s order restricting birthright citizenship could influence immigration policy for decades to come.

Admissions staff at Yale University’s medical school “used racial proxies” and “intentionally selected applicants based on their race” to the benefit of black and Hispanic students, despite a Supreme Court ruling that affirmative action is illegal, according to a new report from the Department of Justice.
“Yale uses its holistic-review procedure to uncover and then use applicants’ race through direct and indirect means,” says a letter from the DOJ, which conducted a year-long investigation into the school. “It then conducts interviews that enable the committee to know applicants’ race and ethnicity. Race preferences elevate Black and Hispanic applicants in the admissions process.”

Democrats are very distressed that the Constitution exists. Marc Elias, the Democrats' democracy-destroying lawyer who helped cook up the Steele Dossier and who spends all his time trying to rig elections, suggested dissolving the Virginia state government because the Virginia Supreme Court ruled that the Virginia Constitution applies even to Democrats.
James Carville muses about upending the US Constitutional order to save democracy, and now former Vice President Kamala Harris wants everybody to brainstorm how to change everything about how the American Constitutional system works, including elections, Supreme Court independence, representation, and, for all I know, putting mRNA in the drinking water.

Iran’s ability to threaten its neighbors and US interests has been dramatically reduced by US bombings, and Tehran’s defense industry has been set back by 90%, a senior US admiral said on Thursday.
However, US Central Command head Admiral Brad Cooper conceded during testimony before the US Senate Armed Services Committee that Iran still maintains a “very moderate if not small capability to continue strikes” in the region and that Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard is still a major force in running the country.
In response to questions from Democratic Sen. Elissa Slotkin, Cooper also said the US has the military power to permanently reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

The Supreme Court ruled unanimously Thursday that a man maimed in a tractor-trailer crash could sue the broker who arranged the load, a major win for highway safety advocates who have sounded alarms about unsafe trucking companies and the high number of deaths and injuries in truck crashes.
A CBS News investigation last month revealed the widespread scope — and deadly consequences — of the explosion in demand for overland shipping, in part because more people shop online, and the strain that demand has placed on America's trucking fleet.

The US Senate on Thursday unanimously approved a resolution to withhold their pay during a government shutdown.
The resolution, adopted by voice vote, was authored by Republican Senator John Kennedy (LA).
“My resolution to stop senators’ pay during government shutdowns cleared a key procedural vote today, moving it one step closer to final passage,” Kennedy said on Wednesday afternoon ahead of the Thursday vote.
“Fair-minded Americans know senators should feel the pain of a shutdown with the American people,” Kennedy said.
Kennedy’s resolution suspends Senators’ pay during partial or full government shutdowns.
“It’s called shared sacrifice,” Kennedy said.

President Barack Hussein Obama's Presidential Center opens in Chicago's Jackson Park on June 19, and plenty of admirers will treat the moment like a civic holiday with ticketed entry.
Nobody should pretend the Obama project reached opening day after some gentle stroll through paperwork. The Obama Foundation chose 19.3 acres inside historic Jackson Park, a public space with deep civic roots, and fought years of legal challenges from Protect Our Parks over public land, process, environmental concerns, and whether the project served the public interest. The center moved ahead anyway, wrapped in the soft language of community, democracy, and uplift.

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) built his brand on being so dedicated to transparency, integrity, and libertarian values that not even the president of the United States could get him to budge. Babies are proverbially easy to steal from, and California is going to swipe the very diapers off their bottoms.
Of course, California Gov. Gavin Newsom has promised the opposite, announcing a program to provide “free” diapers to newborns. This is meant to appear as a generous and pro-baby plan, and Newsom was even applauded by some pro-life and pro-family writers and activists.
But this is California, notorious for fraud and boondoggles ranging from fake hospices to the high-speed rail train to nowhere. So, in evaluating this program, it is pointless to try to parse the projected cost-per-diaper because California cannot accurately estimate such costs.

The child was grazed in the ear when shots were exchanged between two crews, believed to be gang-affiliated, on Southern Avenue in Longwood around 5:40 p.m., the NYPD and sources said.
The youngster was an unintended target in the broad daylight shootout — which sent panicked residents scattering for shelter, the sources added.
She was taken to Harlem Hospital in stable condition, cops said.

This week the Democrat mayor of Arcadia, CA pled guilty to charges of acting as an illegal agent of the People’s Republic of China. Prosecutors alleged that from 2020–2022 (pre-mayor but continuing into her time in office), she and an associate operated a website promoting pro-China propaganda at the direction of PRC officials, without registering as a foreign agent.
She faces at up to 10 years in prison for the crime, and it raises questions about how many more US mayors are on the payroll of foreign governments. But this scandal, like most scandals surrounding Democrats, will probably be erased from public discussion and forgotten within days.

The Justice Department filed a federal lawsuit Wednesday against the District of Columbia Bar’s disciplinary authorities, alleging that the attorney discipline process has been improperly used to investigate and penalize federal government lawyers for actions taken in their official capacities.
At the center of the dispute is an ongoing disciplinary case involving former Assistant Attorney General Jeffrey Clark, who faced scrutiny over his role in discussions surrounding the 2020 presidential election and a draft letter concerning allegations of election fraud in Georgia. According to the Justice Department, the letter was never finalized or sent, and the disciplinary proceedings improperly target internal executive branch deliberations.

There’s a pattern here.
In Maine, Socialist Senate candidate Graham Platner, who claims to be a working class oysterman, is a rich kid who isn’t an oysterman, and in Michigan, Abdul El-Sayed, whose whole pitch for office is claiming to be a doctor and running on implementing socialized medicine… has no medical license and barely ever practiced.
Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed for years has publicly said he’s a physician — but there’s overwhelming evidence that he’s had no experience as a licensed medical doctor. This April, he gave an interview to a local TV journalist where he talked up his credentials as a physician multiple times.

Billionaire Bernie has spent decades selling Americans the same tired socialist fantasy, while he gets richer and richer off the current American system. He tells us the rich need to be taxed harder (he’s very rich), the government needs to get bigger, and America should look more like those magical little Nordic countries where socialism supposedly works because everyone is happier, healthier, and somehow still has enough money left over for pricey e-bikes and IKEA furniture.
And Sweden was always one of Bernie’s biggest and best examples.

The news stories are pretty much all the same. Heartless Republicans slashed Medicaid spending and let temporary “enhanced” Obamacare subsidies expire, and now millions are losing health insurance.
But buried deep within those stories, if it’s there at all, is the fact that when measured properly, enrollment for both programs is up.
Here’s a prime example.
Axios this week ran a story with the headline “Health program cuts hit home, fueling blame game.”
It begins by saying that “Sweeping changes that congressional Republicans made to the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid are starting to take effect,

On Tuesday morning, New York City’s ultra-progressive mayor, Zohran Mamdani, took to X to take quite a boastful victory lap.
“When we came into office, we uncovered a $12 billion budget deficit,” Mamdani posted to X. “Today, I’m proud to say we brought it down to zero.”
“We didn’t close the gap on the backs of working people,” he continued. “We closed it while funding parks, libraries, safer streets and making historic investments in public housing. Call it Pothole Politics. Call it Democratic Socialism. It’s government that delivers for the people who make this city run.”
“That’s what New Yorkers deserve. And that’s what we will keep fighting for every single day.”

In explosive testimony before the Senate Homeland Security Committee Wednesday, a CIA official accused the agency of engaging in a COVID coverup well into President Trump’s second administration.
In his opening statement, James E. Erdman III alleged that the agency refused to cooperate with a DNI investigation, spied on investigators and retaliated against investigators.
Erdman testified that he was assigned to lead the Director’s Initiative Group (DIG) from March 2025 to April 2026 and investigate “COVID’s origins, anomalous health incidents, and unidentified anomalous phenomena.”
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard established the DIG task force in April 2025 to execute President Trump’s executive —

A breaking news alert from Fox News, apparently confirmed by a Republican congresswoman, states that the Central Intelligence Agency went rogue, raiding the office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) to seize files. It seems from the Fox News report that the CIA seized the files just now, though a whistleblower from the agency who testified to Congress today referred to the wrongful seizure of files in his testimony. It is therefore not clear if the raid occurred today or before the testimony, or if there was more than one seizure.

President Trump revealed on Monday to reporters why the Iranian people were unable to rise up against the regime during Operation Epic Fury.
According to the president, it was not simply because public morale had been crushed following the regime’s harsh crackdown on protests in late 2025 and early 2026. He said a broader U.S. plan to help arm anti-regime forces inside Iran was ultimately derailed by a third party: the Iraqi Kurds, whom the United States had planned to rely on as ground forces in southern Iran.

The Trump administration’s work to pare back waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government has reportedly exposed a vast network of taxpayer-fleecing scams, abuses of immigration, and of the citizenship process across all corners of the United States.
The story involves resettled refugees soaking up federal paychecks to run home healthcare and childcare businesses, transnational criminal organizations exploiting food benefit programs, and scammers using fake student profiles to make off with millions in federal student loans. It also involves non-monetary forms of fraud, especially in immigration — legal and illegal alike.

New York City’s budget crisis has been solved. Socialism finally works. Hooray.
That’s the not-too-believable message from Mayor Zohran Mamdani on Tuesday, who assured voters that despite all they’ve heard about socialism running out of other people’s money, he’d finally gotten around that inconvenient problem.
Weeks after warning that New York City faced a “historic” budget crisis and delaying its mandatory submission, Mamdani suddenly announced that he was “proud” to say that the problem was solved. When we came into office, we uncovered a $12 billion budget deficit. Today, I’m proud to say we brought it down to zero,” Mamdani announced triumphantly on X.

RIYADH/DUBAI - Saudi Arabia launched numerous, unpublicized strikes on Iran in retaliation for attacks carried out in the kingdom during the Middle East war, two Western officials briefed on the matter and two Iranian officials said.
The Saudi attacks, not previously reported, mark the first time that the kingdom is known to have directly carried out military action on Iranian soil and show it is becoming much bolder in defending itself against its main regional rival. The attacks, launched by the Saudi Air Force, were assessed to have been carried out in late March, the two Western officials said. One said only that they were

Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton just reminded Democrats that a legislative chamber isn't a daycare center with microphones. Sexton removed all 24 House Democrats from their committee assignments after disruptions during a special session on new congressional maps.
WPLN News cleanly broke it down.
Sexton has taken issue with the way Democratic lawmakers protested — linking arms and walking out of the chamber as the vote was called. In a letter, Sexton alleged that Democrats “created disorder” by using banned props, walking out and “encouraging disruptions … in coordination with paid protestors and attendees in the gallery.”

The UAE is prepared to fight for its life against Iran, and has militarily joined the U.S. and Israel in taking down the region’s largest supporter of terrorism. Although it acted secretly, the UAE reportedly attacked a refinery on Lavan Island in the Persian Gulf; the attack took the facility offline for months.
Iran has attacked the UAE aggressively, sending 2,800 missiles and drones into the country. The UAE responded to these attacks, and the U.S. and Israel quietly acknowledged and welcome their support.
Out of all the Gulf countries, the UAE is the only one that has responded to Iran’s attacks. It also signaled

The phrase "quit while you're behind" comes to mind ... for everyone else but Democrats, apparently. Now, even The Atlantic has begun sending warning flares.
The current freakout over Louisiana v Callais may fill up campaign coffers, but the party's determination to cling to racial set-asides in all areas of policy has alienated its former core constituency, warns Richard D. Kahlenberg. Working-class voters want policies that improve their lives directly much more than they worry about diversity, equity, and inclusion quotas in either the public or private sectors. Watching Hakeem Jeffries et al propose utter nihilistic destruction of public institutions

James Erdman III is testifying today before the US Senate Homeland Security Committee, and he is blowing the whistle on the CIA's willingness to bow to Dr. Anthony Fauci's insistence that COVID did not originate in lab leak, likely tied to gain-of-function research.
No surprise there, I have to say. At the time, the CIA agreed to withhold its conclusion that the most likely explanation for COVID's spread was a lab leak, although it has subsequently stated that the lab leak was likely. BOMBSHELL: Here is the entire opening statement from CIA whistleblower James Erdman lll. He testifies that Dr. Fauci's role in the COVID cover-up was INTENTIONAL.
