Sami Winc: So, Victor, let’s turn to California. And recently, the—we know as well a lot of our viewers know—California has a jungle primary, where the primary is all the parties are in. And the last—the two that are on top are on the ballot for November. Well, no surprise, but our chair of the Democratic Party in California, Rusty Hicks, has decided that this does not work as a primary process.
Victor Davis Hanson: I thought it worked great. It always got the results the law is—they drafted the law.
They said they had 60% Democrats, so they could ensure that in most all—and it worked.

An earthquake occurred today in the Commonwealth of Virginia that was felt at the highest levels of power in the U.S. House of Representatives, particularly shaking the minority leader of the House of Representatives, Hakeem Jeffries. On Friday, the Virginia Supreme Court rejected the unconstitutional push by the Democrat majority in the Virginia General Assembly. The Virginia high court voided the proposed constitutional amendment and “temporary” partisan gerrymandering by Democrats that would break up the current congressional district map from its current representation of six Democrat and five Republican congressional seats to 10 Democrat and one Republican to represent the Commonwealth of Virginia in the U.S. House.

The First Minister of Wales has lost her seat in the Senedd and resigned as Welsh Labour leader as the party loses control in the country for the first time amid mounting pressure on Sir Keir Starmer. The Telegraph has more.
Baroness Morgan of Ely failed to cling on in the Ceredigion Penfro constituency on Friday, becoming the first sitting Welsh leader to lose an election in the Welsh Parliament.
In a parting broadside at the Prime Minister, she warned that Sir Keir’s Government needs to “change course”.
Welsh Labour is set to lose control of the Senedd for the first time, with Plaid Cymru forecast to become the biggest party,

The US military launched a new series of airstrikes Friday, targeting a group of empty tankers in the Strait of Hormuz that were trying to barrel through the blockade of Iranian ports, according to US Central Command.
A US Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet struck two empty Iranian tankers that were attempting to break past the American blockade on Tehran’s ports, disabling them both “after firing precision munitions into their smokestacks,” CENTCOM said in a post to X.
The ships — known as the M/T Sea Star III and M/T Sevda — were attempting to breach the blockade to reach an Iranian port in the Gulf of Oman.

Louisiana Republican Sen. John Kennedy has become somewhat of a comedy legend, at least among conservatives. Liberals, not so much, because he regularly shreds them with his easy homespun humor and exposes their hypocrisy with such wicked effectiveness.
Former President Barack Obama and the toxic Stephen Colbert (who’s somehow supposed to be a comedian?) are anything but funny, and so if you put them in a room together, what would you get?
Maximum cringe. That’s just what happened Tuesday when Barack sat for an interview with the soon-to-be-jettisoned CBS late-night talk show host. As RedState’s Nick Arama reported, Obama,

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has classified the hantavirus outbreak as a “Level 3” threat and activated its Emergency Operations Centers, sources told ABC News Thursday.
The designation is the lowest level of emergency activation, signifying that the risk to the general public remains low — in line with information given by the World Health Organization earlier Thursday
The CDC is actively monitoring the situation, including by activating the Emergency Operations Centers.
This typically signals that a designated emergency team has been set up to handle hantavirus, the outlet reported. Epidemiologists, scientists, and physicians may be reassigned to monitor and assist with the disease response.

Don’t break up because of that Mam!
New York leaders are desperately trying to stop billionaire bigwigs from hightailing out of the Big Apple with their cash, businesses and thousands of jobs — as fears mount that Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s policies will accelerate the Empire State’s nation-leading loss of wealth.
The splashy one-two punch of Citadel CEO Ken Griffin and Apollo Global Management honcho Marc Rowan pledging to expand outside New York City has been coupled with a silent wave of businesses “quiet quitting” the city over its hostile environment, insiders told The Post.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a former president out hitting the trail to encourage people to come to his presidential library. But Barack Obama is doing exactly that, from a May the Fourth post with Star Wars actor Mark Hamill to doing an interview with Stephen Colbert about his presidential center. We reported earlier on how involved Obama was with the design and how they were selling an ugly blob of a pin, which represented the ugly building well. But the real ugly legacy that Obama left was the division he stoked with a smooth smile.
This is a good example,

President Donald Trump said Thursday that Iranian attacking forces were “completely destroyed” after Tehran fired missiles, drones, and fast attack boats at three U.S. Navy destroyers transiting the Strait of Hormuz, prompting U.S. Central Command to carry out retaliatory “self-defense strikes” on Iranian military targets and port areas as the fragile ceasefire between Washington and Tehran again came under strain.U.S. Central Command said its forces intercepted what it described as “unprovoked Iranian attacks” as the USS Truxtun, USS Rafael Peralta, and USS Mason transited the Strait of Hormuz toward the Gulf of Oman.

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin revealed how federal dollars spent on “environmental justice” often simply perpetuate a wasteful yet lucrative cycle of environmental activism.
Zeldin explained on The Alex Marlow Show how his agency has stopped the scamming by slashing wasteful spending, creating savings far beyond the EPA’s annual budget.
“It’s the principle that there needs to be a zero tolerance policy for any waste and abuse,” Zeldin told host Alex Marlow. “It’s also the principle of being able to do more with less, and we proved over the course of our first 15 months here that we can achieve extraordinary savings here at the agency.”

Gerrymandering, or the protocol where states allot congressional seats by population, is in the news recently, and some states do it transparently politically, depending on the makeup of their state legislatures. Others go through the operation, sometimes genuine, sometimes not so much, of having a nonpartisan body redistrict.
It’s very important because it’s based on the census, as well as within the state. The number of seats that the state is granted by the U.S. Census is then further determined by how you draw the lines for congressional districts.

Tennessee GOP Rep. Tim Burchett revealed Thursday that there is just one more day to wait until the Trump administration releases its first batch of UFO files, which is expected to include material from pilots.
President Donald Trump ordered War Secretary Pete Hegseth last month to begin releasing the government's files on UFOs and unidentified aerial phenomena. Trump initially promised in February to order the release of the files after he criticized former President Barack Obama for divulging "classified information" when he said he believes aliens are real.
