Hegseth: We've Only Just Begun to Win

Will we get tired of the winning before we get tired of the fighting? That political question hangs over all the successes of Operation Epic Fury, even after just four days of hostilities. The news on that question may be better than some believe. We'll get to that in a moment. First, though, let's review all of the winning. The joint US-Israel war on Iran continues to expand without any effective defense from the regime's forces. The IRGC continues to launch ballistic missiles at Israel and every US partner in the region, barrages that have done mild damage to structures and taken the lives of six American soldiers

When a country spends two decades lying through its teeth in negotiations, that nation should not feel shocked when no one will help pull its chestnuts out of the fire. The chestnuts its leadership still has, that is. Since the beginning of joint US-Israeli war operations, the remnants of Iran's regime have remained publicly defiant. They have declared that the IRGC and other military forces have inflicted massive damage on Americans and Israelis. The USS Abraham Lincoln is thisclose to being sunk! Privately, however, the regime knows it's cooked if they can't get an end to the intensifying barrages of Operations Epic Fury and Roaring Lion.

California Governor Gavin Newsom is doubling down on his support for a California law barring teachers from informing parents of their child’s gender transition after the Supreme Court blocked the law in a temporary order this week. The law, signed by Newsom in 2024, allowed teachers to withhold information from parents if their student experiences gender dysphoria. The law further requires that teachers use a student’s preferred pronouns. “Teachers should be focused on teaching — not forced to be gender cops,”

American and Israeli forces have struck nearly 2,000 targets in Iran with more than 2,000 munitions in the first 100 hours of Operation Epic Fury, also named Roaring Lion by Tel Aviv, the commander of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said Tuesday. Meanwhile, top Trump administration officials told Congress to expect an even larger wave of strikes in the coming days. CENTCOM: Operation Epic Fury doubled scale of Iraq's 'shock and awe' Adm. Brad Cooper, leader of U.S. Central Command, stated that more than 50,000 U.S. troops, 200 fighter aircraft, two aircraft carriers, and long-range bombers are participating in the operation, the largest U.S. military buildup in the Middle East in a generation.

Texas state Rep. James Talarico secured a victory over Rep. Jasmine Crockett in the Democrat primary for U.S. Senate on Tuesday, overturning weeks of polling that had shown the Dallas congresswoman with a significant advantage in the race to determine the party’s nominee in the 2026 contest for the seat currently held by Republican Sen. John Cornyn. Recent polling ahead of the March 3 primary showed Crockett leading. A University of Texas at Tyler poll conducted Feb. 13–22 surveyed 1,117 registered voters and 959 likely voters and found Crockett with 55 percent support compared to Talarico’s 37 percent, outside the poll’s 3.2-point margin of error

Dem Rep. Jasmine Crockett (TX-30) has been a lightning rod for criticism due to her outlandish statements, ever-changing accents, and generally reprehensible behavior. Yet somehow, she thought she was ready for the United States Senate. The voters are weighing in, and their answer so far is: yeah, maybe not so much. Although the official vote count has not been made final, Crockett trails at this hour to her competitor, TX state representative James Talarico. There’s already some legal back and forth, and courts are involved, so the final outcome may not be confirmed for days. Already, though, Crockett is blaming her poor performance on… election fraud. Wait, I thought it was a danger

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) backed the U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran without hesitation, calling Operation Epic Fury entirely appropriate, and said eliminating Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the un-alived supreme leader of Iran, removed one of the most dangerous figures in modern history. President Donald Trump confirmed the mission targeted senior regime leadership gathered in Tehran, with early reports stating roughly 40 to 50 of the top Iranian officials were killed in the attack's early wave. Fetterman didn't hedge, asking why anybody would grieve leaders of a regime tied to terror networks and decades of repression. He said that Americans should recognize the strategic impac

It came as little surprise that, in response to Operation Epic Fury, there quickly followed reports that Iran was threatening to close the Strait of Hormuz. As our Ward Clark noted at the time: The Strait of Hormuz is a major shipping lane and a critical bottleneck connecting the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea. Iran controls the northern shore of the strait, while the southern side is formed by the Musandam Peninsula, belonging to Oman, with nearby coastline also held by the United Arab Emirates. The United Arab Emirates, we might note, are probably peeved at having been the apparent target of Iranian missiles

The commander of U.S. Central Command on Tuesday released a new operational update on Operation Epic Fury, outlining the scale of the ongoing U.S.-led military campaign targeting Iranian missile systems, naval assets, and military infrastructure. In a video message posted by CENTCOM on X, Adm. Brad Cooper said the operation is now in its fourth day and involves a massive concentration of U.S. forces across the region. The update comes as U.S. and Israeli forces continue a fast-moving military campaign against Iran following several days of escalating conflict across the region. Operation Epic Fury has quickly developed into one of the largest American military deployments in the Middle East in years,

Decision Desk HQ (DDHQ) has projected that Republicans will be headed to a runoff in the Texas Senate primary after no candidate passed the 50-percent-plus-one-vote threshold necessary to win the nomination. With more 65 percent of the vote counted, incumbent Sen. John Cornyn sits at 43.2 percent, with Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton garnering 40.3 percent, and Rep. Wesley Hunt (TX-38) clocking in a distant third at 12.9 percent. Cornyn and Paxton will now face off again on May 26. John Cornyn has been in the fight of his political life to hold onto the U.S. Senate seat he has occupied since 2002. Polls have shown him neck-and-neck

An American submarine sank an Iranian warship off the coast of Sri Lanka, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed Wednesday, the first US sinking of an enemy ship by torpedo since World War II. The attack left at least 101 people missing, one dead and 78 injured, sources in Sri Lanka’s navy and defense ministry told Reuters. The IRIS Dena frigate was armed with heavy guns, surface-to-air missiles, anti-ship missiles and torpedoes and could carry a helicopter. The 180-crew frigate had issued a distress call at dawn. “An American submarine sunk an Iranian warship that thought it was safe in international waters. Instead, it was sunk by a torpedo,”

Jasmine Crockett didn’t simply lose her Senate primary. She staged a slow-motion meltdown on the way out the door, complete with preemptive claims of cheating and “disenfranchisement,” long before the votes were even done being counted. Early Tuesday evening, while ballots were still being tallied across 254 Texas counties, Crockett started laying the groundwork for an excuse. She told supporters there had been “a lot of confusion” in Dallas County. She insisted that “people have been disenfranchised,” blaming Republicans for supposedly targeting Dallas and hinting darkly at votes that might not count. Then she left her own watch party early and told the crowd not to expect results that night,

Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem testified that the Biden administration funneled cash to sponsors who trafficked and abused unaccompanied migrant children. Federal dollars poured through the Department of Health and Human Services right into the pockets of adults escaping screening, meaning many of those people ended up as outright predators. The Office of Refugee Resettlement dumped kids into homes without solid background checks, skipped consistent DNA testing, and ignored follow-ups that could've kept them safe. Nearly 450,000 kids cycled through the system, many of whom disappeared after sloppy placements. If Noem slams down documented proof linking this mess straight to federal blunders,

As my RedState colleague Brad Slager documented, many mainstream media outlets rushed to report on how Shajarah Tayyebeh, a girls' elementary school in southern Iran, had been hit on Saturday, with unverified claims from Iranian officials that it was "bombed in broad daylight, when packed with young pupils" after the start of Operation Epic Fury. Brad noted in his write-up that the suggestion/insinuation from these same Iranian regime officials that it was a deliberate "strike" on the school by the U.S. and Israel was not initially met with the appropriate amount of media skepticism from U.S.-based outlets that such claims warranted.
