The Washington state attorney general released a statement on X Tuesday evening warning independent journalists to sop investigating fraudulent Somali daycare centers or they could be charged with a hare crime. (snip) "Showing up on someone's porch, threatening, or harassing them isn't an investigation. Neither is filming minors who may be in the home. This is unsafe and potentially dangerous behavior. Harmeet Dhillon, the Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, issued a warning of her own in reaction to the Washington state AG's post. "Any state official who chills or threatens to chill a journalists 1A rights will have some 'splainin to do"

Comments:

A property at which hundreds of thousands of public dollars are spent for a public purpose is a public facility subject to accountability for the use of those funds. That's a basic principle of a free society.

The WA apparently took "1984" to be a blueprint instead of a warning. And in warning others to curb their enthusiasms for actual investigative journalism, she definitely positions herself and her warnings on the scale of some animals being more equal than other as in "Animal Farm"... golly, many of today's Progressives must be huge fans of George Orwell. Who knew?

If the WA state AG is telling 'independent journalists' ( i.e. ANYONE with a video camera) to not investigate Somali daycare centers for fraud, in light of the tsunami of fraud coming out of Minnesota, it probaby means that the fraud in WA is even more breathtaking than Minnesota's. I can't wait to see what kinds of fraud are uncovered in OR, CA, and IL.

The "amateur" reporters must not have gotten the daily marching orders from the DNC so you're delivering the message for them?

What will the Washington AG do if someonefrom the Seattle Times, WSJ, NY Times, CNN, or MSNBC got off their lazy butts and did some actual investigating? Will they be charged with hate crimes too? STOP all Federal funding to ALL the states from HHS and HUD. Only provide reimbursement to those that prove that all financial information supporting reimbursement is legit and can be backed by supporting documentation. Washington state needs to remember, the federal funds they receive are paid by us. If the state officials were doing their job, fraud would not be rampant.

The AG is threatening lawfare against anyone who tries to uncover illegal activities in Washington State. The STATE protects itself. We have seen how this worked against Trump but Trump is a force of nature and survived it, mostly. Almost everyone else gets crushed. In liberal states, it's almost impossible to get fair treatment in the sympathetic courts who are very happy to make up law to get a conviction. The only solution for this is for the electorate to vote liberals out of office and, over time, replace the judiciary. Technically, judges can be impeached but it is very hard to do and few in government have the stomach for it.

#1, it IS a hate crime depending on who you are saying it to. If the subject is the member of a class that helps Democrats get elected then it is by definition a hate crime. Who says what to whom is irrelevant. Recent testimony of Jack Smith in front of Congress was a vivid demonstration of such mentality.

Even if that hourly-worker put in a full-time year, they will only make $35,152, which is less than $3,000 monthly, which barely covers the cost of a studio apartment.

If you're wondering whether New York City will remain safe for Jews, Mamdani just answered that question, and the answer isn't reassuring.
