A string of deadly shootings connected to Oklahoma marijuana farms -- including a quadruple execution and a home-invasion murder has exposed a shadow network tied to New York money, organized crime and groups linked to China, according to a new report. (snip) The trail led investigators far from rural Oklahoma to New York City, where real estate figures, political fundraisers, and leaders of Chinese hometown associations allegedly bankrolled or backed the farms -- groups that lawmakers say have ties to Beijing and have drawn scrutiny from federal authrities.

Comments:

The Maine Wire website has an interesting video on illicit Chinese triad marijuana grows in that state. Problems include upward pressure on rents because large numbers of rental houses were converted to grows, widespread use of pesticides banned in the U.S. (for a product designed to be smoked!), and compromised politicians.

The Trump administration announced it is pausing all childcare payments to Minnesota in light of explosive revelations about Somali-saturated fraud rings siphoning billions from federal welfare programs. (snip) The truth is, affordable childcare is itself a scam. The billions spent on daycare result in worse outcomes for society than if these programs never existed. Industry researchers have known and lied about this for decades. Yes, that makes them frauds too, and their mark -- is there any other mark on the planet? -- the endlessly spigoted American taxpayer.

Just four of the locations have received nearly $7 million in combined taxpayer funds since 2020. Prompted by a flood of tips from readers about facilities that tipsters say do not appear to be providing services, Alpha News reporters Liz Collin and Jenna Gloeb visited more than a dozen autism centers and adult daycare businesses across the Twin Cities during posted business hours on Monday, Dec. 15. No children were observed at any of the autism centers visited. Only a few workers and a small number of elderly women were seen at the adult day care facilities. Many of the locations seemed empty.

Daycare centers that receive hundreds of thousands in taxpayer subsidies did not appear to have any children when The Center Square visited the facilities this week and were either openly hostile or told journalists that they were hoping to have children in their care, but did not have an application available or anyone to talk with about enrolling a child. The focus on Washington's taxpayer subsidized daycares comes at the time federal authorities are conducting what they call a "massive" investigation into Somali-run facilities in Washington.

California residents will be impacted by more than 900 new laws effective January 1, 2026. Because we need 900 new laws in the leading regulatory hell state in the nation. Because the cost of living in California is so high, Democrat lawmakers think increasing the minimum wage to $16.90 per hour will help hourly workers afford a median-priced $900,000 home. Even if that hourly-worker put in a full-time year, they will only make $35,152, which is less than $3,000 monthly, which barely covers the cost of a studio apartment.

The change, which became effective on December 24, adds a new section to the Domestic Mail Manual stating that “… while the presence of a postmark on a mailpiece confirms that the Postal Service was in possession of the mailpiece on the date of the postmark’s inscription, the postmark date does not inherently or necessarily align with the date on which the Postal Service first accepted possession of the mailpiece.”
