Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) is facing a challenging political future as he finds himself at the epicenter of a growing fraud scandal in his home state. The controversy, which focuses on hundreds of millions of dollars allegedly stolen from a federally funded nutrition program, has led to more than 50 convictions. The New York Times gave the story national attention last week, highlighting statements from federal prosecutors that as much as $1 billion in taxpayer money may have been stolen in separate plots. It has even Walz’s longtime allies wondering if the governor should walk away from a reelection

Comments:

The Democrat powers-that-be want Timpon out. Even in blue-blue Minnesota he's the walking dead. His rotting governorship can be smelled through his open windows.

Some have speculated that Walz was on the take and profited from the scam. I doubt it. I think that he is simply another incompetent Democrat who thought thousands of welfare dependents would guarantee his party's elections. I am sure he knew something was going on but chose to ignore it.

Walz is a liar, a thief and a fraud - a typical Democrat, with a room-temperature IQ. He’s through. Stick a fork in his fat arse ; he’s done.

Walz was made aware of this a long time ago and did nothing but go after the whistleblowers reporting it. All of his posturing now about audits and site visits are too little too late. The buck stops with him because that’s where it belongs. It was about votes and campaign contributions. He isn’t going to ‘Trump blame’ is way out of this. Keep digging Governor.

This was a simple payment for votes. A bribe, if you will. That being said, no governor in this state has ever won a third term.

Being incompetent or a crook has never been an impediment to political office. In many areas it is a resume enhancer.

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro had strong words to share about former Vice President Kamala Harris in a recent Atlantic profile. The governor, 52, bristled at questions about Harris' memoir, 107 Days, which recounts her brief campaign for the White House in 2024 after former President Joe Biden dropped out of the race. (Snip) She also wrote that Shapiro was fixated on the official vice president's residence, allegedly asking about the number of bedrooms and measuring the drapes. Swiss voters have rejected a tax on ultra wealthy residents and turned down a proposal to extend mandatory military service to women, initial poll results showed Sunday. Nearly 85% of voters rejected military or civic service for females, and 79% voted against a 50% inheritance tax for the most wealthy Swiss. The inheritance tax would have imposed the levy on individuals receiving a tax-free amount of 50 million Swiss Francs, or just over $62 million. The proposal, made by the youth wing of the leftist Social Democrats, would have directed the funds toward the nation's climate change mitigation efforts.

The Afghan man accused of gunning down two National Guard members blocks from the White House last week had been unraveling for years, unable to hold a job and flipping between long, lightless stretches of isolation and taking sudden weeks-long cross-country drives. His behavior deteriorated so sharply that a community advocate reached out to a refugee organization for help, fearing he was becoming suicidal. Emails obtained by The Associated Press reveal mounting warnings about the suspect, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, an asylum seeker whose erratic conduct raised alarms long before the attack that jolted the nation’s capital on the eve of Thanksgiving.

A good part of a person’s success in the game of life is a product of nature and nurture – his genes and the parenting he received. People who were unlucky enough to receive bad genes, or bad parenting, or both, tend to be unsuccessful. Tragically for America, these people who are unsuccessful at life are the very people who are disproportionately successful at having babies. Those babies tend to inherit their parents’ bad genes and learn their bad parenting. When those babies grow up (or, often, just partially grow up) they, like their parents, are unsuccessful at life but disproportionately successful at having babies.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has repeatedly insisted that she will not allow the U.S. military to fight drug cartels inside her nation’s borders. “It’s not going to happen,” Sheinbaum said last month after President Trump yet again threatened such an operation. “We don’t want intervention by any foreign government.” But while Sheinbaum passionately defends her nation’s sovereignty, recent polls and interviews from across Mexico show that a significant number of people here in fact welcome having U.S. boots on the ground. Slightly more than half of Mexicans surveyed by polling firm Mitofsky said they believe “U.S. authorities should enter Mexican territory to fight organized crime and arrest its leaders.”

Michael Bennet, who challenged the package for violating Senate rules. When Republicans refiled the package later on Thursday, the conference included an additional nine nominees, bringing the total to nearly 100.
