The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade kicked off its annual festivities on Thursday, Nov. 27. But many viewers say the broadcast left a lot to be desired. NBC started livecoverage at 8:30 a.m. EST with hosts Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb and Al Roker. But having tuned in then, I can say the actual parade didn’t start until 9 a.m. EST. (Snip) Within minutes, frustrated viewers took to Reddit to vent about the broadcast feeling more like an ad break marathon than a parade. “Respectfully … I [couldn’t] care less about what you have to say I would rather see the balloons,”

Used to be you could turn to one of the off-network channels and watch the actual parade. Sad day when that option went away. When it did, we stopped watching. Last thing we wanted to see was all the different Broadway shows advertising their song and dance one after another.

Yes, it took a while to get moving and I was prepared to endure all the WOKE propaganda they managed to insert! My take is always admiration for all the work that goes into this event and to see all the bands and floats full of happiness. Once it's over, I'm done with NBC.

Next year, record the parade, and fast forward during commercials. Turn the sound off, and play some great holiday music. Listening to Savannah trying to sound interesting is painfully mind numbing.

We watched the parade from Detriot live and recorded the Macy's parade. We were able to fast forward through the commercials and every time someone stopped on the star in front of the cameras to show how well they could lip sinc a song. We watched a three hour parade in about 45 minutes doing this!!
I later told my sister, "It felt like I was watching a variety show with extensive advertising and a parade marched by!!" It was the absolute worst version of the parade I've seen!!

I haven't watched the Macy's parade in probably 30 plus years. The Rose Bowl parade, however.

The same woman who was involved in Macy's parade was hired by the Pasadena Tournament of Roses. Big mistake, /she has mistakenly rought the show hiz stuff - singing and daning - towhat for over a hundred years had been a gorgeous all-floral gloat parade with horses and hands. No need for D-list performers.

The worst (beside the endless commercials and hideous NBC hosts) were the so-called “star” rappers. Do people actually listen to that c***???

I gave up on the Macy's parade years ago when the guest stars lip-synced their songs and it was one big promo for Broadway shows. The balloons and the marching bands were treated as afterthoughts. The Rockettes are great, but not worth putting up with the rest.

We lways watch the Rose Prade, but recorded so that we can do our own editing. There is still nothing in the world like it Eery square inch of every float must be covered in fresh flowers, seeds, other plant material. No exposed painted surfaces. No tinfoilm. crepe paper, etc. All flowerrs and plant material. Both of used to partiipate in the Rose Parade in diffent capacities. We used to visit the floats barns to see them covered with flowers in the last few days of December. Fascinating...

Saw maybe two minutes of broadcast and knew it was going to be a very long infomercial with endless commercials. Went on to something of interest.

Everything in America is now broken up like that, sports, social media, all TV, including older rerun programs that are now cut and much more ad time pushed in than was there originally. For purposes of my mental health, I am constantly cutting time spent on this garbage. Since most of the ads feature drugs, it's an accurate indicator of which industry makes way too much money. You think the parade was bad, wait for the Super Bowl. What used to be an entertaining halftime show has also turned to ghetto trash. PS, I won't be watching that circus either.

What was the deal with the Chinese band playing the same offensive ditty over and over and over? That was horrible! And all the dancers holding up the progress of the floats?
Another holiday tradition ruined by libtards.

My leftist daughter said the same thing. She said the hosts were doing infomercials. I barely watched this year after decades of watching less than a second.

I can't even watch the NFL anymore because of all the "breaks in the action" as they say. It also has to kill momentum if a team is driving and then the players have to stand around for the six commercials in a row. It's reaching a point of diminishing returns. I do the same as others and fast forward when I can or at least mute the damned things. I also realize that the ads are what pay for the entertainment but they need to minimize them a la The Masters. They are also more effective with fewer. Please excuse the rant. This grumpy old codger used to be in advertising many years ago. Where possible we would place only one ad on a page for more effectiveness. Don't get me started about missing the iconic game in Soldier Field on Thanksgiving. All the better if it was snowing.

Money, money, money, money from ads is the reason NBC is here. The reason NBC started early is to make more money, money, money, money!
