Viewers Rage Over NBC’s Macy’s Parade Broadcast

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade kicked off its annual festivities on Thursday, Nov. 27. But many viewers say the broadcast left a lot to be desired. NBC started livecoverage at 8:30 a.m. EST with hosts Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb and Al Roker. But having tuned in then, I can say the actual parade didn’t start until 9 a.m. EST. (Snip) Within minutes, frustrated viewers took to Reddit to vent about the broadcast feeling more like an ad break marathon than a parade. “Respectfully … I [couldn’t] care less about what you have to say I would rather see the balloons,”

Comments:

Blabbering hosts, tons of commercials, and only brief views of the balloons.

Used to be you could turn to one of the off-network channels and watch the actual parade. Sad day when that option went away. When it did, we stopped watching. Last thing we wanted to see was all the different Broadway shows advertising their song and dance one after another.

Yes, it took a while to get moving and I was prepared to endure all the WOKE propaganda they managed to insert! My take is always admiration for all the work that goes into this event and to see all the bands and floats full of happiness. Once it's over, I'm done with NBC.

Next year, record the parade, and fast forward during commercials. Turn the sound off, and play some great holiday music. Listening to Savannah trying to sound interesting is painfully mind numbing.

We watched the parade from Detriot live and recorded the Macy's parade. We were able to fast forward through the commercials and every time someone stopped on the star in front of the cameras to show how well they could lip sinc a song. We watched a three hour parade in about 45 minutes doing this!! I later told my sister, "It felt like I was watching a variety show with extensive advertising and a parade marched by!!" It was the absolute worst version of the parade I've seen!!

I haven't watched the Macy's parade in probably 30 plus years. The Rose Bowl parade, however.

The same woman who was involved in Macy's parade was hired by the Pasadena Tournament of Roses. Big mistake, /she has mistakenly rought the show hiz stuff - singing and daning - towhat for over a hundred years had been a gorgeous all-floral gloat parade with horses and hands. No need for D-list performers.

I gave up on the Macy's parade years ago when the guest stars lip-synced their songs and it was one big promo for Broadway shows. The balloons and the marching bands were treated as afterthoughts. The Rockettes are great, but not worth putting up with the rest.

We lways watch the Rose Prade, but recorded so that we can do our own editing. There is still nothing in the world like it Eery square inch of every float must be covered in fresh flowers, seeds, other plant material. No exposed painted surfaces. No tinfoilm. crepe paper, etc. All flowerrs and plant material. Both of used to partiipate in the Rose Parade in diffent capacities. We used to visit the floats barns to see them covered with flowers in the last few days of December. Fascinating...

Former MSNBC host Joy Reid wondered on the "I’ve Had It" podcast whether Vice President JD Vance is planning to find a new wife to appeal to the MAGA base because she's Indian American. Reid speculated that Vance might not be the 2028 heir apparent to President Donald Trump because MAGA supporters wouldn't accept someone like Usha Vance as first lady. "They can't have the successor to MAGA be the guy with the Brown Hindu wife," she said of Vance. "They're also Christian nationalists. That ain't going to work. That's why he's throwing his wife under the bus. Poor Usha.

DEIR AL-BALAH, Gaza Strip — Children and families in Gaza scooped muddy water from their tents on Tuesday, trying to protect the few belongings that remain after two years of war. Winter’s heavy rains have left displaced Palestinians splashing in water that reaches their ankles, and blaming both Israel and Hamas for the misery that remains despite a ceasefire. “All tents were destroyed,” said Assmaa Fayad in Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, whose shelter was damaged in Tuesday’s latest downpour. “Where is Hamas? Many Cook County homeowners are reeling from whopping property tax bills that came out late and much higher than expected. Chicago's south and west sides saw some of the biggest increases as tax bills began arriving in mailboxes the last few days. In the North Lawndale neighborhood, property tax bills went up on average 98%. In the West Garfield Park neighborhood, the average increase was more than 130% One of the main reasons for skyrocketing property tax bills for homeowners is because of what's happening downtown, where property taxes collected from commercial businesses dropped $129 million over the past year.

Charlie Sheen is not known for holding back. But a recent conversation with Megyn Kelly offered something rare from a Hollywood figure: humility, self-reflection, and a willingness to admit he might have been wrong. Kelly asked Sheen this past weekend if he had grown more comfortable discussing his increasingly right-leaning views, especially given his father Martin Sheen’s long-standing ties to Hollywood’s leftist elitism. Sheen, who is promoting a book, said that he had. He told Kelly that many people, himself included, remain “beholden to the structure of the house that we were raised in.” Sheen then divulged some truth about the left’s policies, not only in his native California, but everywhere run by Democrats.

On Wednesday, 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal of Afghanistan left two National Guardsmen in critical condition after he allegedly opened fire on them while shouting “Allahu Akbar,” law enforcement officials say. Lakanwal arrived in the U.S. in 2021 as part of Biden’s Operation Allies Welcome, carried out by Mayorkas at the time, which ultimately resettled tens of thousands of Afghans in American communities.
