Last week a radio host in Salt Lake City asked me a question I didn’t expect. We’d been talking about my “jobs Americans won’t do” article, which kind of kicked the anthill, and everything stayed within the usual lanes: illegal immigration, wages, hiring incentives, hollowed-out towns. Then, at the very end, he asked the only question that really matters: “So how do we fix it?”
Not describe it or rant about it. Fix it.
My answer, essentially, was, "It's complicated." There isn’t a bumper-sticker answer. And there certainly isn’t a partisan one. The problem goes much deeper than illegal immigration, though illegal immigration made it far worse. The truth is brutal:

The public has until Midnight (Eastern), November 24, 2025, to submit feedback on the Department of Homeland Security’s proposed changes to the H-1B visa lottery.
As of midday today, about 1,000 new comments have been posted on the federal portal at Regulations.gov, bringing the total to over 12,000.
The proposed rule, titled “Weighted Selection Process for Registrants and Petitioners Seeking to File Cap-Subject H-1B Petitions”, would replace the current random lottery for 85,000 annual H-1B visas with a system that gives priority to higher-wage positions.
Registrations for unique beneficiaries would be entered into a weighted selection pool based on wage levels, with the highest-wage positions having the greatest odds of selection.

The Associated Press argued for keeping its Oval Office and Air Force One access before a Washington, D.C., appeals panel Monday, after riling President Donald Trump over the news outlet’s insistence on using the phrase “Gulf of Mexico.”
“The First Amendment does not stop at the Oval Office door,” AP attorney Charles Tobin argued before the three-judge panel of the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals.
He argued that the White House press pool system has long allowed the AP to attend almost every presidential event. He noted that some form of the White House press pool goes back to the White House of President James Garfield, and was more

It’s another day ending in “y,” so it’s another day when a federal judge jumps in to thwart the Trump administration.
On Monday, Judge Cameron McGowan Currie tossed the cases against Former FBI Director James Comey and current New York Attorney General Letitia James, ruling that Attorney General Pam Bondi's appointment of Lindsey Halligan as interim U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia was invalid. The Department of Justice is almost certain to appeal the ruling. Meanwhile, the case was dismissed without prejudice, meaning the charges could still be refiled, although in the case of Comey, that may be in doubt given that the statute of limitations has since run.

A controversial Muslim building project in northern Texas is rebranding as the apparent attempt to build a town based on Islam draws national attention. Collin County Judge Chris Hill posted via Facebook on Nov. 8 that the project known as “EPIC City” is now called “The Meadow.” Development Group Community Capital Partners, also known as CCP, is submitting new construction and city planning blueprints for Collin County to evaluate. "CCP is the company behind EPIC City, an Islamic-focused community planned near Josephine, Texas, in Collin and Hunt Counties,” Hill wrote.

Italy has long been one of Europe’s strongest defenders of religious freedom despite the influence of the Vatican.
But now, the country is poised to outlaw the use of traditional Islamic attire like burqas, a move the government says will strengthen its tradition of religious liberty by requiring all faiths to operate with “full transparency” and within the limits of Italian law.
The proposed law, which is set to be debated in Italy’s parliament before the end of this year, would ban “religiously motivated garments that obscure identity or impose non-transparent forms of [religious] affiliation,” according to a draft of the proposal published in the Italian media.

The Department of War has opened a probe into “serious allegations of misconduct” against Sen. Mark Kelly that could result in court-martial proceedings, just days after President Trump accused him of seditious behavior.
Without providing details of what offenses Kelly (D-Ariz.), a retired Navy captain, is accused of committing, the Department of War vowed to conduct a “thorough review.”
“This matter will be handled in compliance with military law, ensuring due process and impartiality,” the Department of War said. “All service members are reminded that they have a legal obligation under the UCMJ [Uniform Code of Military Justice] to obey lawful orders

Tatiana Schlossberg, the granddaughter of JFK, has less than a year to live after being diagnosed with terminal leukemia, she announced Saturday.
“Maybe my brain is replaying my life now because I have a terminal diagnosis, and all these memories will be lost,” she writes in a searing article about her condition in the New Yorker.
Schlossberg, 35, whose parents are Caroline Kennedy and Edwin Schlossberg, has acute myeloid leukemia with a rare mutation. She described how her doctors discovered the cancer – just a few hours after she gave birth to her second child in 2024.

Community activists in Charlotte, N.C. are ramping up their efforts to counter federal immigration enforcement, turning church basements into training grounds where volunteers literally role-play as illegal immigrants. Dilworth United Methodist Church overflowed Monday night as Siembra N.C. hosted an “ICE and Border Patrol Watch” session, WBTV reported. Trainers walked attendees through step-by-step exercises on how to track federal agents, film detainment encounters, and alert neighborhoods when immigration officers appear in the area. Volunteers acted out mock arrest scenarios while trainees practiced recording the encounters, shouting scripted warnings, and instructing “detainees” on what to say when approached by law enforcement.

The U.S. Postal Service announced that it will increase prices for most shipping services beginning January 18, 2026, pending regulatory approval, as the self-funded agency works to narrow persistent financial losses.
The changes, already approved by the USPS Board of Governors, would raise Priority Mail rates by about 6.6%, Priority Mail Express by 5.1%, USPS Ground Advantage by 7.8%, and Parcel Select by 6%. Prices for mailing services, including the cost of a First-Class stamp, will remain unchanged in January.
The move follows the release of fiscal 2025 results showing a $9 billion net loss, slightly better than the $9.5 billion the prior year. Operating revenue rose 1.2% to $80.5 billion,

A liberal columnist complained Thursday about hearing the American national anthem in Washington, D.C., the nation’s capital.
Jamie Stiehm, who has contributed to several corporate media outlets, including The New York Times and The Washington Post, wrote for The Capital Times on Thursday that though the “Star-Spangled Banner” might be appropriate for “ballparks and stadiums,” it is “dissonant” to play before a classical music concert in today’s political climate.
Stiehm said that classical music transcends international boundaries, but the national anthem pulls the arts back into the orbit of President Donald Trump’s influence. After attending a symphony at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts

Oh, I know: The PJ Media audience wanted to see President Donald Trump take a blowtorch to Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani, holding him accountable for his Marxist rhetoric, welcoming him to the D.C. Big Leagues with some Trumpian chin music. It’s not your fault. Earlier Oval Office onslaughts whetted your appetite: “Trump’s tangle with Zelensky was pretty good. So [gets popcorn] this Mamdani mele oughta be a doozy. Beer me!”
And now you’re disappointed — or maybe, deep in your heart, even a little embarrassed — by the total lack of Mamdanian mayhem. You were expecting World War III and received a bouquet of flowers! Worst pay-per-view ever!
