Male inmates at an all-female prison in Fort Worth, Texas, are temporarily restricted from entering or using female-only private areas, a judge decided this week. It is the first time a federal court has ruled that male inmates must be sex-segregated in women’s prisons.
The Federal Medical Center, Carswell is a formerly women-only prison in Texas that currently houses several men who identify as women. FMC Carswell recently housed dozens of people who identify as trans or intersex, according to a federal report.
Female inmates have for years petitioned the state to separate trans-identifying men from women’s private spaces.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The National Transportation Safety Board has issued its preliminary report into the crash of UPS 2976 , an MD-11F bound for Honolulu that crashed on takeoff at Muhammad International Airport.
The preliminary report was released 16 days after the crash.
The three crewmembers were killed, as were 11 people on the ground. There were also 23 injuries as a result of the crash.
The initial report shows that the taxi and takeoff roll were uneventful. The Flight Data Recorder contained about 63 hours of data that spanned 24 flights, including the crash. Initial investigation revealed that the left engine and left pylon detached during takeoff.

Employers across the U.S. added 119,000 jobs in September, marking a pickup after previous employment data had shown a slowdown in hiring. The report marks the first official job tally since the government shutdown ended last week, ending a six-week blackout on labor data.
The numbers
Economists had forecast payroll gains of 50,000 jobs in September, according to a poll by FactSet.
The unemployment rate rose 4.4% in September, up from 4.3% in August and the highest level since Oct. 2021. With robust job growth in September

With a little less than a year to go before the 2026 midterm elections, a Marist Poll shows Democrats leading Republicans by a massive +14 points in the generic ballot.
“Democrats currently have a 14-point lead against the Republicans among registered voters nationally on the 2026 generic congressional ballot question,” writes Marist. “This has changed considerably. Since 2022, voters have been divided about which party’s candidate they would support.”
This, even though those polled “place most of the blame for the shutdown on congressional Democrats.” Still, “six in ten [blame] either the President or the GOP in Congress.”

Yesterday we learned that a three judge panel had ruled 2-1 that Texas would not be allowed to use newly drawn maps in the midterm elections. U.S. District Judge Jeffrey V. Brown, who is a Trump appointee, joined U.S. District Judge David Guaderrama, an Obama appointee, to demand the state return to its previously drawn maps. The core of their ruling was that the goal of the redistricting was not partisan political advantage, but racial gerrymandering.
The state had argued that the entire redistricting process was based on a partisan goal, which the U.S. Supreme Court has previously said courts cannot intervene to prevent. But the plaintiffs pointed to a letter

Larry Summers, the former treasury secretary and ex-president of Harvard University, announced Wednesday he would resign from the board of directors at OpenAI amid scrutiny on his connection to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein — ties that are now the subject of a new internal investigation at the Ivy League school.
"In line with my announcement to step away from my public commitments, I have also decided to resign from the board of OpenAI," Summers said in a statement Wednesday. "I am grateful for the opportunity to have served, excited about the potential of the company, and look forward to following their progress."

Democrat Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA-03) did the right thing in pushing for a vote on a "disapproval resolution" against one of her leftist colleagues, and now she must pay the price.
That is the gist of the latest drama playing out among the House Democrat Caucus after the lower chamber voted on Tuesday in favor of the resolution, with 23 Democrats crossing the aisle to vote with Republicans (236-183-4) in what ended up being a deeply humiliating moment not just for Rep. Jesús "Chuy" Garcia (IL-04) but for Democrat House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08), who had urged his caucus to vote against it.

Has New York's Mayor-elect, the "Democratic Socialist" (Communist) Zohran Mamdani, found a cynical way to appease his Islamic constituency while also making nicey-nice with his "woke" supporters? Because his latest loony-left policy proposal sure makes it look like he's trying to do just that. Townhall's Amy Curtis has details:
This is such a good point that this writer is mad she didn't connect the dots first. She has, however, written several articles about Zohran Mamdani and his troubling anti-gay ties. This includes a relationship with Ugandan politician Rebecca Kadaga, who supported legislation that would imprison gays for life; Imam Siraj Wahhaj, who called gays the "disease of society"

Anti-Israel agitators who spread disruption at US colleges and were punished by authorities were awarded checks for $1,000 by a Muslim nonprofit, The Post has learned.
The money was given to students who faced penalties for leading pro-Palestinian protests before and after the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7 2023, according to a bombshell report by the Network Contagion Research Institute (NCRI) and the Intelligent Advocacy Network (IAN).
The cash was awarded from a “Champions of Justice Fund,” set up by the California chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations’ (CAIR) as “institutional endorsement,” the report claims.
In California, the largest arm of the CAIR web of nonprofits,

From The Hill newspaper,
Senate unanimously approves bill to force release of Epstein files.
No doubt that Pres. Trump will quickly sign the measure. Also from The Hill,
The Senate agreed by unanimous consent Tuesday to approve a House-passed bill to require the Justice Department to release all unclassified records and documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, sending the bill to President Trump’s desk for a signature.
UNCLASSIFED? What, what? So this entire pointless exercise just got more pointless (pointlesser? pointleast?). What about other government agencies, like the CIA or NSA?

The Trump administration has been secretly formulating a new plan to end the war in Ukraine in consultation with Russia, Axios reported Tuesday, citing U.S. and Russian officials.
It is a 28-point roadmap inspired by U.S. President Donald Trump's plan for the Gaza ceasefire, the news outlet reported. Similar to the Gaza plan, the proposal would consist of "peace in Ukraine, security guarantees, security in Europe, and future U.S. relations with Russia and Ukraine," Axios reported, citing sources. The U.S. special envoy, Steve Witkoff, is leading the formation of the plan and "has discussed it extensively with Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev," Axios reported, citing a U.S. official.

Chinese penetration of Western countries has been going for a while. In the U.K., they are getting worried about it:
MPs and members of the House of Lords have been warned by MI5 that they face a significant risk of espionage from the Chinese state.
Sir Lindsay Hoyle, the Commons Speaker, has circulated a new “espionage alert” issued by the security services.
In a message to MPs, Hoyle said Chinese state actors were “relentless” in trying to “interfere with our processes and influence activity at parliament”.
