The leaves aren’t the only reds upstate this fall. After socialist Zohran Mamdani won last week’s New York mayoral race, an upstate city has gone one better by electing a full-blown communist. Hannah Shvets, 20, a student organizer and member of the Communist Party USA, was elected to the Ithaca Common Council on Thursday in the Democratic stronghold’s Fifth Ward, which covers the western half of Cornell University’s campus in the city. Shvets, a Democrat and Cornell sophomore, defeated independent candidate and former Democratic primary hopeful G.P. Zurenda after winning the endorsement of groups that include Ithaca branch of the Democratic Socialists of America and the Ithaca Tenants Union.

Some the Commie college student wants a $25 minimum wage and rent control with more rights for tenants. Landlords already must follow ordinances and laws regarding rentals and evictions. Will she invent new "rights". As a pampered 20 year old, has she ever run a business or had to meet a payroll? Or has she just lived in the theoretical world of academia where social justice ideas are free but reality isn't. Hopefully, she will find out rather quickly that reality and commie socialist ideals as a student are very different things.

So apparently the Overton window in our country has shifted so far left that actual, openly admitted, avowed Communists are winning political offices. Wow. Of course, the government schools teach kids virtually nothing about the horrors of 20th century communism, so they're simply ignorant.

The problem with liberals is they never admit they were wrong. So as they dive into the consequences of communism, they will likely double down. Unlike me - I admit I was wrong to think I should support, Bush, Bush, Romney, and McCain. What will be really interesting will be watching the gays and women under Sharia law in NY City.

Americans are supposed to have enough common sense to stay away from people like Shvets and Mamdani. We have the right to vote and elect trash. We have free speech and say things that shouldn't be said. We have freedom of religion but embrace a religion fueled by hate. We vote ourselves 'free' money. Our elections are turning into a mockery. What happens when one abuses their rights and freedoms? You lose them. It's already happening. People like Shvets and Mamdani don't believe in the right to vote or freedom of speech or religion. They buy votes and line their pockets. There are plenty more just like them. Don't be surprised when our representative government is replaced by a dictatorship run by thieves and tyrants that don't govern. We are already seeing it. Considering what people are doing with their rights and freedoms, maybe we do need a dictatorship. Only one requirement. They must actually govern and not be a pack of looters.

Ex-Treasury Secretary and Harvard professor Larry Summers announced plans Monday to step back from public commitments amid fallout from the release of emails between him and pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. The former Clinton and Obama administration official had exchanged emails and text messages with the disgraced financier well after his 2008 guilty plea in Florida for sex crimes – and up until Epstein’s July 2019 arrest on federal child sex trafficking charges, a trove of documents released by Republicans on the House Oversight Committee revealed last week.

Drug pushing has long been a stain on Washington Square Park, declassing its iconic arch and proximity to NYU. Parents from around the world pay some $93,000 per year for their children to attend the august institution, despite hardened street dealers operating in all-too-close proximity. While street performers sharpen their acts, chess players position pieces on stone tables and NYU kids enjoy the park as a de facto campus, there have always been shadowy dudes hissing about their loose joints and cut-rate bags of blow.

President Trump pledged that prices will come down in a speech to owners, operators and suppliers of his beloved McDonald’s Monday. Trump’s address at the fast-food giant’s Impact Summit in Washington, DC, comes as concerns over his handling of the economy and the cost of living have mounted. “Prices are coming down,” the president claimed. “I will tell you that nobody has done what we’ve done in terms of pricing,” Trump argued. “We took over a mess. We had the highest inflation in the history of our country … and now we have normal inflation.”

The New York Times reported last month on the dire situation for gay people in Iran, where homosexuality is punishable by death. Many are pressured to undergo brutal reassignment surgeries to live as the opposite sex. Now, instead of effeminate gay men, they’re just run-of-the-mill straight women. Problem solved. What Iran has effectively built is a medical system that treats homosexuality as a defect to be surgically erased. The goal isn’t self-expression; it’s social conformity. Transition becomes a tool of state-enforced heterosexuality. As a gay man myself, I think that sounds pretty barbaric. Though you could say that what’s occurring in the United States is arguably worse. Here,

Jurors in Brooklyn federal court were shown copies of letters purportedly sent by Hochul on March 26, 2018, inviting a six-member delegation from the province in central China to a meeting with then-Gov. The mainstream media frequently runs articles about child molesters interspersed with articles about these conservatives, implying that they are all equally bad. COP30, the UN climate conference, is underway in Belem, Brazil. Thousands of representatives from all over the world have journeyed to discuss how to cut carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions to try to fight human-caused climate change. But ten years after the Paris Climate Agreement, the global consensus on climate change is crumbling. COP30 is the thirtieth “conference of the parties.” The first took place in Berlin in 1995. At COP21 in Paris in 2015, more than 190 countries signed the Paris Climate Agreement, pledging to cut emissions and to limit global warming to 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. About 50,000 people are attending COP30 from more than 190 nations.

The former First Lady wants you to believe that America rejected the idea of a woman leading the free world because we’re too primitive, too sexist, too stuck in the Stone Age to recognize brilliance when it smiles into a camera. Wrong. We rejected Kamala Harris — because she is, without exaggeration, the emptiest pantsuit ever shuffled onto a debate stage. She didn’t lose because she’s a woman. America’s crime map is not random. And it is not evenly distributed. It forms a pattern, a persistent outline that says more about the country than any campaign speech or census brochure ever could. When you trace the safest states in America, you trace a corridor of calm: New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont’s shadow, Idaho’s long sweep of farms and foothills. Places where the pace is steady and the population overwhelmingly white. When you trace the most dangerous states, the pattern changes just as sharply — a concentration of chaos in states marked by sprawling cities, fractured communities, and the kind of “diverse” demographic makeup polite society insists you never mention.

For decades, the monolithic and sacrosanct international climate change hierarchy went unquestioned. Western nations in particular spent trillions of dollars over the past half-century to subsidize expensive but erratic wind and solar energy while demonizing carbon fuels as toxic threats to the planet. Like Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion dogma, climate change orthodoxy was embedded into every aspect of Western culture, from the corporate boardroom to the university campus. Question whether man-made global warming was truly responsible for increased temperatures rather than natural, often centuries-long cycles of heating and cooling of the planet, and one was labeled a climate crank.
